We bought a Maclaren double stroller before our trip. It worked great and wasn't that much larger or bulkier then a single stroller. My husband hurt his wrist during our trip so there was one day where I did almost all the pushing. I think if we'd had two singles it could have really held us back that day. Also we had two rainy days and having a stroller with a nice rain cover kept the kids nice and dry. Not sure if you can find a well fitted rain cover if you're using cheap umbrellas. For the buses one of us wrangled the stroller while the other wore the baby and held our preschooler's hand. It worked great.
We also brought an ergo baby carrier for our 23 month old. It was great for waiting in lines and gave us the ability to park the stroller more often while we explored a small area of the parks. Plus she sometimes fell asleep in it and I could wear her during a show.
