Double stroller or 2 singles - what would you do?

I would bring a single and rent a double. If your 6 year old is anything like ours, they'll want to be pushed on occasion. Also, if you need to make a mad dash anywhere, you can easily load all three up and get where you need to go. :D

Are all of you physically capable of carrying one of the children? You may only need one single. We went when my son was almost 3, and we barely used the stroller because we had 3 adults who could carry him, and he preferred doing that or walking.
Given you choices, I would just take the double. We went when my oldest was 5, and the stroller mostly carried stuff and carried him for a few times (like World Showcase), but he walked most of the time. If you need to separate, can't the 5 year old just walk?

Now this is assuming you are not doing naps in the stroller and aren't commando style.

ETA: I see you made your choice. I have to say, I agree. If there is a place the stroller can't fit, your 5 year old can walk and your 2 year old can probably be carried by someone in the group. Looking after one stroller is a PITB enough for us, 2 would be a headache.

we did a double in 2013 with a 5 and 2 yo and it worked out fine. The only thing was it was it bit cumbersome trying to get on and off the resort busses but otherwise it was fine. There are so many times we left it in stroller parking for extended periods of time - but the nice thing was both seats reclined so they were able to sleep after the shows and trying to leave the park. In 2014 we tried to get away with just a single stroller for the 3yo and made the 6yo old walk but that didn't work out at all. We ended up renting at Epcot and MK and they both fought over the rented stroller. But it was nice having the two singles for when we needed to separate. If I were you I would just go with two singles. It seems like you have plenty of people to help with the pushing.

I take my city mini double everywhere. It went with us last time to disney (2013) and since it fits in all standard doorways, we had no problems with it. Even took it on the monorail (never used the buses, but will be this time around). Actually saw many of them there. I think it's easier to keep track than of two singles.

I'm agonizing over this for our October trip myself. Our twins will be almost 3 and I can see advantages and disadvantages to both. Thanks for asking so I can get input too. ;)

I'm debating this too - outs will be 1.5 and 4. We usually do our double BOB around town (outdoor walks), but we're really not fans of the double on any type of crowds. Last weekend we "tested out" two single strollers for a long city walk and it was a pain - ODD wanted to be in the strolłer, then didn't, etc. so one of us was frewuently pushing a strolłer AND chasing a 3YO. This morning we only took one strolłer on our walk and then of course ODD needed a strolłer - so we definately need two seats, it's just how to be most efficient about it. I'm looking up a bunch of the strollers suggested on here - thanks all!

We did double when our kids were 2,4 and 5. That way one parent could walk with kids when they decided to take a break from the free ride.

We have ALWAYS done 2 singles. Allowed my husband and I to split to different areas in the park if we wanted to with the kids and much easier to push. The kids are now 9 and 10 so we are done with THEM and strollers!

Fast forward to next year and we will have my 2 and 4 year old so we are back to this debate...with the older ones now and also the younger ones I think we will have to go to a double. Our plan is family together in the morning park but then plan on splitting the afternoon to allow one parent with the older and one parent with the younger as possibly different parks. This requires one parent with 2 younger ones so we will HAVE to go double...not too happy about it but part of having a larger family I guess!

Double has always worked for us. Wouldn't have it any other way. Our kids are ages (3 1/2 & almost 2). Last time we rented a City Mini Double & more than likely plan to do the same this year. Unless I can get brave & bring our BOB. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions...

I went and test drove a few sit-and-stands with my 3YO this evening. They seemed to steer okay, but they are just so BIG when folded up! We have a Bob Duallie but it's a walking-around-town/to the park strolłer so we rarely fold it up. My "trunk" stroller is one Maclaren and for day-to-day stuff that's usually sufficient, but I need to wrap my head around the idea of a double for long days at WDW.

We have taken both.

One trip we just brought a regular grace stroller that was super light but we only had one kid. It had a basket, dual cup holders and a sunshade.

Next trip we brought that above stroller and a jeep umbrella stroller. My dad liked to push as did my dh so it worked well. We rarely split up but when we did I was with dh and our 2 kids. My kids were 4 and 22 months on that trip.

The final stroller trip we took, my beloved graco was circling the drain so I needed another stroller. We bought a joovy caboose about a year prior to our trip. We also added a third kid to the mix. The kids were 2 1/2, almost 5 and 7. And they all wanted the stroller! So all 3 went in that stroller. Most of the time my youngest was up front and my other 2 split the back-one was about 30 lbs and the other maybe 40 lbs plus my other one up front that was 30 lbs so I am sure we exceeded the weight limit. But they creeked along in the stroller. It was heavy.

But either way it worked. So I guess try out both ways.
