Double Stroller Advice

Hi there — we’re heading to Disney with our 4-year-old and 10-month-old. We currently own the UPPAbaby Vista V2, but thinking it might be too bulky for travel. We’re considering the Silver Cross Jet Double, the UPPAbaby Minu Duo, or possibly the Nuna Trvl dubl. Our top priorities are ease of use in airports, comfort for kids, maneuverability in the parks, and overall handling. What would you recommend? Is it worth it to lug the Vista V2 or should we invest in one of the other travel strollers? For reference, the kids weigh 33lbs and 19lbs.

We used the Vista V2 for our 4 yo and 1 yo during our 8-park day April/May trip. It was absolutely worth it for the comfort and storage. We stayed at AoA so we could roll the Vista right onto the Skyliner. We brought an extra tote for item storage and easier stroller folding when we used buses.

For flying, we used the travel bag and packed the Rumbleseat in its original box. We also took the Piggyback board but never used it. We will be leaving it at home next time.

If you are planning to use the Skyliner, just a reminder that side by side double stollers need to be folded, but inline double stollers can roll right on. That might influence your decision.

I’d bring the easiest to fold/unfold. It really sucks when you’re struggling to clean out and fold up a stroller while there’s a line of impatient people behind you giving you angry looks lol. Having 5 kids I’m quite familiar with strollers in WDW and ease of folding/unfolding is very important.

Some additional information…We are staying off park so we’ll be driving each day. If we decide to park hop I’m not sure we’ll use Disney transportation to get between each park. It would probably have to be the bus. Appreciate everyone’s input!

Following. Going in December with a 5 year old but 60 pounds and about 48 inches and my 2 year old.

Im just not sure what option would be best with the older kids size! Open to any suggestions!

SIDE by SIDE for the win. My wife and I travel to Disney annually and we have adapted our Stroller strategy with our 7yo, 5yo, and 1yo as they have grown up. We now have a Baby Jogger side by side and we love it.

Benefits:
- the size, both kids can fit comfortably and lie down in the shade if needed. We were find with our 6mo.
- the storage, easily tote all the parenting essentials. ***Pro tip*** buy some large karabiners to hang bags for extra storage.
- Parking!, Stroller parking can be tight and the side by side is like a F1 racecar. We can weave that sucker in and out quickly.
- The breakdown and set up is quick and with some practice you can do this without unloading everything.

Cons:
- you have to break it down on public transportation, ie bus/skyliner

How often do you visit WDW? We are out of the stroller game, but we went to WDW every year, so finding something that is age appropriate, but can grow with the kids might be something to consider.
We used to use a sit and stand stroller. I think it was a Joovy Caboose, but I could be remembering that wrong. It's been a few years.
Our daughter sat in the front and my son stood on the back. He would sit down every once in a while.

I got really good at maneuvering it through the years. It got to the point where I could fold it up in one motion. Though, it took years of practice. My son had the option of sitting or standing, but it also allowed him to jump off without us constantly lifting him in and out of a seat when he saw something at a gift shop. At the time, it was under $200. We got a lot of use out of it, and it really took a beating. When we outgrew it, there was plenty of life left in it, and we left it for another Disney family to use.

Find a used Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight. When in use it is about the same length as a double jogging stroller, but the width of a traditional stroller. It is great for families with kids that have a 2.5 or more year age gap.

Big fan of bringing an ultralight or umbrella style stroller for use in the airport/travel days and then renting a side by side once you arrive. It’s nice to not worry about your pricey uppababy gear in the luggage hold or parked outside rides and left alone in the parks.

I usually rent from scooterbug because they deliver to resorts without having to meet them but I have seen tons of Kingdom Strollers in the parks too. I like the double BOB side by side - large but super easy to maneuver and fits through doorways just fine. Plenty of cargo and carabiner hanging room on the handles. Cost is minimal per day in the grand scheme of a Disney vacation and protecting your primary at home stroller from damage. Just my preferred way of handling the stroller situation, can’t wait until everyone can walk all day!

We love the double BOB for Disney! If you don’t want to invest you can rent one from Kingdom Strollers or Scooterbug

I’m surprised that no one suggested 2 singles. They are infinitely easier to maneuver than a double, and has the added benefit that you can split up if kids’ needs are different.

My favorite park stroller was the Baby Jogger City Mini when my kids were that size. Admittedly our stroller days are long gone (though my 12 year old would still happily ride in one if allowed), but I put thousands of miles on our strollers before we finally outgrew them.

You are probably in Bob territory with a 60 pound child. Still a great stroller but it is kind of a beast. Here I’d definitely consider 2 singles.

We really liked the Graco RoomFor2 which has a sit/stand option for the older child and the stroller itself is no bigger than a single. It folds up small enough to go through the carry-on scanner at the airport.

A 60 pound 5 year old does not need a stroller, flame on.

Perhaps some 5 year olds may be able to handle 10-15 miles of walking per day but many cannot, regardless of how much they weigh.

I like the doubles that have front and back! Side by side are hard to navigate the crowds!
