we are flying on southwest next wednesday morning. as of this monday morn i havent recieved my ME packet for whatever reason. i have proof of ME reservation so thats not a problem

question 1}

if we do not have ME yellow tickets all i have to do after retrieving our luggage is go to the ME check in desk and after cheking in go and place or allow the driver to place our luggage on the bottom of the bus correct

question 2}

if we do somehow get the yellow tickets on time all i have to do is place them on our luggage before arrival at our airport and just go and check in at ME and then off to POFQ

i believe the answer to both of the questions is yes but as the time for our trip dwars closer i am getting a bit nervous and just want to make sure i am doing everything is ok

You are exactly right. One other option is to go straight to the ME desk without retrieving your luggage. Give them your luggage claim tickets and allow ME to retrieve them from the carousel for you and deliver them to your room. People have done this, though it would make me a bit nervous... You could also take pictures of your bags and give them to the ME desk as well....

Have a great trip. I would call ME to see if a packet was sent out.

Here's the number to Magical Express: 866 599-0951.

I'd call them and see what the deal is. It would be awful to lose your luggage, and the whole point of ME is just hopping on the bus and having your luggage show up w/out worrying about it. If you booked in advance, they should tell you what your best option is.

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical
Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
motor coach.
2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal
and proceed to the Disney Welcome Center which is located on the B Side on Level 1 and bypass baggage claim.
If you arrive on the A Side, please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1.
You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative
to confirm the number of bags* checked as well as your return flight information. You will then board a
complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
your luggage. Please note if you take your luggage on the motor coach it will not automatically be delivered to
your room.
Returning home. You will receive a Transportation Notice the day prior to check-out advising you of your motor
coach pick-up time and other general information. Your motor coach pick-up time is based on your
flight departure and will be approximately 3 hours prior to that time to allow for multiple stops by
the motor coaches.
Resort Airline Check-In Service. Upon departure, you may take advantage of Disney’s
complimentary Resort Airline Check-In Service for participating airlines. You can check
your luggage and receive your airline boarding pass at your Disney resort so there is
no need to check-in at the airport. At this time, the service is available for guests
flying domestically on these airlines: Alaska Airlines, American, Continental,
Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, and United (including Ted).
*Pet carriers not included. Disney’s Magical Express cannot transport pets
except for service animals.

And just so you know, the procedure for having DME claim your bags even though you don't have DME luggage tags on those bags ... that method is as old as DME itself.

I was one of the first people to use DME. Even back then, this procedure was firmly in place. It's been in place since Day One. It's not like they just thought of it and slapped it together. They've been doing it every day for over 2 years, but for you it's a strange and new option.

It really is such a nice perk to not have to bother with baggage claim and suitcases.

thanks to all of the replies. i always feel better whenever i try something new to get a little reassurance that i am doing it correctly.

well its the morning of july 4th and i still havent recieved my package. my travel agent said she did ship them and cant understand why i hadnt recieved them. so i called ME and they told me that all i had to do is contact my TA and have her send them a fax with ther info. well she said she did it and hopefully the info that ME gave me was correct. ooops: forgot to say what i was told by ME. i was told that as soon as they get the fax that they would ship it by fedex or ups. so hopefully when i get home from work on Thursday that the envelope is on my desk
thanks again
tom

Just a side note - even if DME got the fax yesterday in time to overnight your packet, unless you don't get to work until after 11 AM, I would not expect the package to be on your desk when you arrive. UPS and Fedex have varying levels of service - the earliest, which arrives by 6:30 AM, costs about three times as much as the next option which is arrival by 10:30 AM. Plus, if there's nobody IN your office to accept the package that early, it's a huge waste of money because the package is then rescheduled.

Safetymom:

I read your post and at the bottom you listed the participating airlines for resort airline check in and failed to put Airtran in with the other airlines. Just letting you know so first time readers aren't confused.

OP said they were flying Southwest....and SW isn't listed in Safetymom's post either.....could this be the problem? We're flying SW and I thought we couldn't do ME? If SW does do ME, can just my bags go? We want to rent a vehicle, but it sure would be great to have someone else schlep the bags to a vehicle and then to my room!

Could I just give ME my claim tags and then go rent my car and the bags will be in my room later that evening??

This was from something that Disney sent me. At that time AirTran was in a trial.

On arriving at MCO everyone can participate in DME. It is only on your return trip that some airlines participate in resort check in. If your airline doesn't then you need to take your luggage on the bus with you.

spoke to ME this morinig and they told me al i have to do is give them the luggage checks and tey will retreve them for us. so thats what i am gonna do

i am takig a chance but i feel that all in all this system works well

I think you're making the best choice. Like I said in Post #5 above, DME has been using that exact procedure since Day One over 2 years ago.

For you, it'll be a leap of faith. For them, it'll be just another Wednesday.:cool2:

Okay....SW does participate in DME.....all airlines do. DME gets you and your luggage from the airport to your resort and back again. HOWEVER....if you wish to check your luggage through to your home airport at your resort on your checkout day, and then get your boarding passes, you have to be flying on a 'participating' airline. THis actually has nothing to do with DME although the people manning the desk wear DME uniforms. Why, I don't know. But that's beside the point.
Now...are you supposed to use DME to transport your luggage while you go off and find alternate transportation for the humans? No, you are not. However, there have been reports of people doing just that. Disney has said that DME is NOT a luggage transferral service, that the luggage delivery is a perk of riding the bus. Will your luggage get to your resort if you are not on the bus? Probably, but I'm not making any promises. Disney can change their methods at any time, with no notice...especially since it is written on their web-site that you may not 'book' luggage transfers only on DME.
