Hi Hadley,
My wife was all set with her leg warmers, giant sweater, and sideways ponytail.

I'm so glad someone else out there admits to rockin' the side ponytail. It was a staple of mine. Sometimes up high, sometimes down low......you never knew where it was going to turn up! :rolleyes1

Hmmm, so if your wife and I (and I know I can get Sandi in on it--she and I had the side pony tails going in May) get together maybe we can plan an unofficial 80s night. What do you think would happen if a whole bunch of us showed up in Rockin' Bar D dressed 80's style:rotfl2:

I'm in too! :woohoo:
Let me get my parachute pants :thumbsup2

Wow, great deals!! I wish would could find a flight for a couple hundred dollars a person. We are flying from Ca. so right now the cheapest is $350 a person. I can't book until mid March so I hope the prices don't go up to much. My husbands work schedule changes so in March so we have to wait.
Tonya

We booked our airfare, too. We are flying to WDW on Sept. 19th and then will fly home to Rochester the day we arrive back in port, Oct. 4th. We booked roundtrip on Airtran, as well. We were fortunate to get non-stop flights in both directions (we aren't big fans of layovers in Atlanta because we always get stuck with connecting flights that are very close together in time but very far apart in terms of distance between gates----so we end up running through the ATL airport like contestants on the Amazing Race! :lmao: ) I think we got pretty good deals at $94 per person each way or direct flights.

Ohhhhh...I was an 80s cool person too! Side ponytail, multiple pairs of socks at one time with my white Keds, banana clips, hair crimpers, Guess jeans (not that I had those...I had some generic version with an upside down triangle...Mom wouldn't spend the $$ on Guess jeans), Tiffany casette tape. My poor children would die laughing if they saw my wardrobe/hairstyles from back then..

WOW! bringing back some memories here folks!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :hippie:

did anyone wear burnout boots? maybe you know them by another name? just above the ankle, brown seude with lite tan fake fur around the laces?

no one here in jersey knows what i am talking about. maybbe it was a philly thing?

no, i was not a burnout. i just hung out with them. the expectations were low.:rolleyes1

I say we turn the One Hit Wonder party into the 80's party. It's only right since the 80's had so many one hit wonders. I am not sure how to go about this, so I will need help from all you experienced cruisers.

Is there any place in the bar that would be a good place for us to all meet and hang out together?

If we all show up at Rockin' Bar D on One Hit Wonder nights decked out in our 80s wardrobes it WILL be 80s night (and Marika will be terribly embarrassed:rotfl2: as will Sandi's daughter Abby). Let's do it!!! Kimberly will you add it to post 577? Brandie will you add it to the website. TIem to revolt:rotfl:

Okay gang, it's time for me to ask for a huge favor....

As you all know we are expecting a little addition to our family this June. Unfortunately that puts us to 5 in our family and we cannot fit 5 (legally) in our Cat. 8 stateroom. There are no connectors left available on the ship, and even if there were, we could not afford it at this point. There are Cat.4's available, but at over $7,100 (and more than double what we paid for the 8), there is no way we can afford to bump up to a category that would fit us. We have nobody at home that could take the baby for a week, so we have to bring her along.

Which brings us to our delimma. We have to bring her and we can't afford to book the 4. BUT, there is something we can do, and it is going to require the assistance of a generous person whose stateroom is not full.

I can book -for paperwork purposes- my baby in someone elses' room...BUT she won't physically sleep in that room, we will squeeze her in our room with us. I have been told that Disney does not frown upon this, and I have another thread in the main board with testimonials from others who have already done this in the past (and had no problems). Of course, I will pay all fees involved with this. As an infant, she sails free (with only port fees and taxes) which we would pay upfront. We would be utilizing Flounder's reef, but again would pay all of those charges in full. We would also take care of any tips that she would be "responsible" for, even though she would not actually be in the other stateroom or dining with the other party. The only thing I haven't figured out 100% would be how to handle the lifeboat drill, but to me that's minor.

If anyone out there would be willing to help us out, please post or pm me. If we don't come up with a solution, we will be forced to cancel, and two (wait four, if you count us big kids) would be heartbroken if we had to do that!

Thanks!!!

I'm with you as will be my daughter Michelle she will just be turning 30 the 80's were her favorite she still gets excited whenever she hears music from than. Our cruise from Oct 06 she was picked to be in the girl band almost lost her towel :rotfl2: She is going to be very upset when I tell her that they stopped the 80's night. We were on the New Year's Eve Cruise and I thought the shows were just for that cruise now I am really sad that they did away with the good shows :confused3 :confused3

:thumbsup2 You got it!

Michael (emsip), tell your DW that the cruise is back on!

'80s Party Night

Well Disney can take away the 80's Party night, but they can't take the '80s groove out of the Double Dippers!

Get stoked! All you mall chicks, pull out your leg warmers, stirrup pants, shoulder pads, and big sweater. Then, dress yourself up with jelly bracelets, banana clips, and 4" hoop earrings. For all the studs out there, find that back pocket comb, Ocean Pacific T-shirt, shades, and parachute pants. It's time to get ready to break dance!
5.gif
On "One Hit Wonder" nights, we Double Dip Delighters will be turning the Rockin' Bar D into an '80s club. Now don't have a cow if you forget to pack your Members Only jacket, Izod, or Jordache threads. Just join us at the Rockin' Bar D and party hardy! It's going to be a totally tubular event!
Read what everyone is saying about it in the "Get-togethers on the Boat" Forum.

(PS: I added a new thread on the website under the "Get-Togethers on the Boat" Forum so you can get chattin' away with your ideas!)

He was VERY happy! :rolleyes1

OMG that list is SO funny! There were some things mentioned that I had completely forgotten about but made me burst in laughter! Funny you pointed out the jelly shoes because I was thinking about those when I wrote the Post 577 addition! I bet I had at least 4 colors PLUS the clear ones with glitter, of course!

Thanks for the laughs, Tonya!!

OMG Im so in for the 80's night... might be solo though not sure if I could get E in on it.. Might have to bribe him... hmm what could that be with LMAO.

It will be totally radical DUDE! lol

buckeye, we are spoiled. i have NEVER flown to florida for more than $200.00(including taxes). if i was sure i could get it in september, i would wait for the 9.00 fares fROM spirit. my SIL flew her family(5) to jersey at thanksgIving for 240.00. NICE!!!

UMM what airline is this? I so need to check it out. I havent found anything under $300 yet from CA. Waiting also for jetblue and southwest. I did go to airtran and thought I found a deal for the 4 of us for $640. ALmost booked it until I read it was ONE WAY... need to stop the adult beverages while surfing for airfare LOL

I remember the biggest "I told you so" from my Mom was because I wore my Jellies without socks ("Wear Jellies with socks? Gee Mom, you're SO uncool") and got the worst blisters EVER. Who ever thought shoes made from hard plastic were a good idea?

BUT...I did look SO rad with my Jellies AND the matching Jellies bag. Not to mention the charm belt. Oh yea baby.

Cozumel: We were thinking of the Royal Dolphin Swim or San Gervasio Ruins & Beach Tour, but aren't sure yet. My DMom and DDad would really like to see the ruins, but don't want to travel an hour and a half or more to see them...plus, we read that it is very hot near the ruins and I don't know if that would be good for them.

Costa Maya: Not sure at all...

Go with the dolphin swim it's breathtaking!!! I did it in 2006 and it's something I'll never forget. It is a little pricey but worth it.

Were planning the Royal Dolphin Swim booked on our own in Cozumel and hopefully a trip for the aduilts to a Mayan ruin in Costa Maya. At Castaway we are planning the StingRays on the first stop and a day at the adult beach the second stop.

I've never booked an excursion on my own, always thru Disney. I'd be afraid I would get lost and the ship would sail without me.
I did the Stingray last year and it was and it was alright, about a 7 out of a 10 rating. I'm not sorry I did it but I probably would't do it again.

This will be a first for trying one on my own but I really want the swim and not the encounter so I am willing to take the risk.

We did the CC Stingray excusion last year and I can't wait to do it again. For the money it was a fun time. Guess it is not that for everyone. Lois
