No flights booked yet. We are still waiting for the dates to be released by the airline. Although, AirTran has good airfares right now. I'll have to check with DH and see what he thinks.

Kimberly- Wow, that is a great price for a 1 bedroom at Ron Jon. We have a 1 bedroom reserved and we did not get it for anywhere near $90! I will call them tomorrow and see if we can get a better deal! :sad2:

How do you get to Ron Jon from the airport. We booked the MCO Hyatt and will take the DCL bus to the port.

I'm getting there, just a hundred pages to go before I'm caught up.:surfweb:

Wow! You've been really busy!

Off topic. Just wanted to share my new Giants siggy.
GO BIG BLUE.
Aunt Michele

Love the signature! Of course, being from New York may have something to do with it. Go Giants!!

Aunt Michele, your siggy looks awesome!

Danielle, I'm so jealous you have that taken care of!! I'm still holding out to see if tickets go down in price. They really haven't changed since the first day we could book in October 2007.

After thinking about it over night, I also decided to call Ron Jon this morning. I was thinking having the laundry machines would be perfect so I can get clothes worn from WDW ready for the cruise without loosing time and having the worry at the resort or on the cruise. Unfortunately, they told me that the special pricing was only for stays up until February 14, not that the offer was good if you book by then. :sad2: Bummer.

Okay...I need some ideas/advice. Although I'm waiting for a quote from Dreams Unlimited, I'm 90% certain that I'm fortunate enough to come up with the money to have my GGrandmother(76) join DMom and me on the cruise, too!!! :goodvibes
You may recall that her husband of 25 years passed away this past summer, and with his long illness of Parkinsons on top of all the horrific side affects of his medication, she hasn't been able to travel in many years. That's why her trip to Florida these past 2 weeks were so exciting for her and for me to watch. So I'm THRILLED to pieces that I am able to financially get her to go!!! It will make a MAGICal three generation photo for us girls on the high seas!

Here's the thing...I know she'll absolutely make a stink about me paying her way, yet she certainly doesn't have the excess means to pay on her own. IMO, me saying "I want you to be a part of this with me" and "You've done so much for me, it's my turn" SHOULD be enough, but I don't know if that will fly. You know how it goes.

I'm thinking I should just go for it and tell her what I stated above and maybe add that it's already paid and all that's left for her to do is get her picture taken so I can submit her passport application. What's she going to do? Say "No" and throw away my money?! She won't have any idea if I can get refunded or not. ;) What do you think? Should I go that route or make up a story like I was hit with pixie dust and thanks to the "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration, I was selected to have another passenger join my cabin to make it full capacity?? :rolleyes1

Can you please share your thoughts or ideas??? :confused3

OHH! I just thought of this, too. I could tell her that her contribution could be to make us all awesome pirate costumes!!! She's a fabulous seamstress!!!

Oh Kimberly, I do hope she can join you. How wonderful would that be? I think you should just tell her how much it means to you and then have her make the pirate costumes. What an awesome grandaughter you are:)

Kimberly

What a lovely thing to do. :goodvibes
I think you should book it & tell her it's all paid for and how much it would mean to you and your mum that she come along.

And if she makes a fuss tell her about the pirate costumes as her contribution.

Tania

Kimberley:

What a wonderful person you are to try and do this for your grandmother. I truly hope you can make it happen.

As far as getting her to agree, I understand your problem. I have the same with my parents. I usually go with the straight forward approach (my mom knows when I am lying anyway). Tell her how much it would mean to you and your mom if she were to join you. Explain that this is a gift you would like to give to her. You might even tell her that her gift to you would be for her to say yes and then you can slip in the costume making project. ;)

Good luck....if all else fails though, I would try your YOMD idea!!!!

That is awesome. I hope she will come and enjoy herself. Wish I could get my dad to come join us. If he wanted he could afford to come but he will not leave his animals. I think it is just that he doesn't want to travel. Keep us posted and let her know if she opts not to joins us that all of us will be disappointed.

Kimberly- Please include my family in the Fish extender activity. Myself, hubby, DD-10, DS-3. Will there eventually be a break down of the gender and age of the children in the participating cabins? Thanks.

Aunt Michele

being from Philly, i cannot condone this!! LOL! blue is not allowed in my house!

flower, thanks for the heads up about airtran flights. i looked last week and sept wasn't up yet. i find they always have the best $.

Well, I thought I should pop in and say "hi" since I can't get in the kitchen to empty the dishwasher as I should be doing. Marika is on a hula hooping kick lately and is hula-ing (?can I make that a word?) in there. She has set a timer and gone for 15 minutes straight (with no drops) every day this week. She plans to bump it up to 20 minutes next week:rotfl2: I'm not exatly sure what she is in training for:lmao: But, I kinda get it, I love to hula hoop myself.

Kimberly: I agree with the prevailing sentiment. Just book it and tell her that it wasn't much difference in price between adding one or two, so it wasn't a big deal. Just down play the cost aspect so she won't have as much reason to cause a fuss. If she still does, the costume thing is a great idea. Tell her that, money is not the only, or even the best way, for a person to contibute the vacation fund.

Definitely go look at the prices. In comparison to other prices I have seen lately I probably saved between $200 and $300 for the 2 of us. For familys that savings could be a lot more.

not liking the #s.

i just paid 158.00 TOTAL roundtrip for newark to miami for the carninal cruise. longer distance mcfly!:rolleyes1

All are per person, lowest fare.

Spirit ac to Orlando 99 each way
Airtran philly to Orlando 114 each way
Airtran Newark to Orlando 69 each way w/ layover in atlanta
Continental philly to Orlando 430 round trip
Us air philly to Orlando 128/133 each way

we really need to leave from philly(ac and newark are a last resort). i'll wait and see what they r on monday. usually cheaper earlier in the week.

We booked our airfare, too. We are flying to WDW on Sept. 19th and then will fly home to Rochester the day we arrive back in port, Oct. 4th. We booked roundtrip on Airtran, as well. We were fortunate to get non-stop flights in both directions (we aren't big fans of layovers in Atlanta because we always get stuck with connecting flights that are very close together in time but very far apart in terms of distance between gates----so we end up running through the ATL airport like contestants on the Amazing Race! :lmao: ) I think we got pretty good deals at $94 per person each way or direct flights.

Crissichef and I are also holding out, we have been spoiled and havent paid more than 79 each way the past couple of year, AC is a last resoret and we are also waiting for Southwest!

I know its a bit early but has anyone decided on Tenative Excursions?

We plan to use the waverunners on Castaway Cay, and maybe an early bike ride the second stop

Cozumel: paradise beach, this looks really fun and not too expensive

Costa Maya...if we go, Dh wants to do Mayan Ruins Tour, not sure if kids will be up to it so I may send him

We also hope to get a Palo Brunch and OF COURSE Eat Eat Eat!

Anyone else care to share?

We got the $54 web special rates on AirTran. Those rates were only good for about 2 nonstop flights each day. We also have to drive to an airport a little further from our house. AirTran only does nonstops to Orlando from Dulles, not Reagan, out of DC. All said and done (taxes, etc. + it costs more to choose your seats, but I'd rather know I'm going to sit with my honey, because if I didn't I'd be a little grumpy) we spent about $70 per person each way. We're flying in on Friday afternoon before we board and flying out on Sunday afternoon, the day after we disembark.

As for Excursions, etc:

We're hoping to get Brunch, Tea & Dinner at Palo. I know it's asking for a lot, but we can always try. I've heard great things about brunch, so I want to try it. We always like to try Tea at different places, so this is a must for us. We've done dinner before, but it was so good so we want to do it again. We're going to try for dinner on Pirate night (I'm phobic of fireworks, so we don't really do this event anyway). Hopefully most people will want to experience pirate night so maybe we won't have a hard time getting this one. Do you think I'm asking for too much?

I figure, with two days at Castaway Cay, we don't need any more beach days so, on Costa Maya we hope to be able to do the Chaccohoben Ruins if they offer them this time around and at Cozumel we're going to go all out and go for Tulum.

On Castaway Cay we want to do the wave runners, maybe a banana boat ride and we plan on bringing our own cheap snorkel gear.
