Crissichef and I are also holding out, we have been spoiled and havent paid more than 79 each way the past couple of year, AC is a last resoret and we are also waiting for Southwest!

We're wating for Southwest also. My biggest complaint about them is that they wait too long to release their rates.

We booked our flights. I went on Northwest's site last week and the cheapest nonstop flight they had from Detroit to Orlando that would work for us was $269 per person roundtrip. I went on their site Monday or Tuesday of this week (can't remember, how bad is that) and found the same flight now had a promotionla rate of $179 roundtrip. Booked it imediately. The four hundred dollar savings will come in handy. Now just need to figure out where to stay Thursday and Friday night.

Kimberly, it sounds like you are a fantastic person and you are trying to do something nice for a very nice person. I would book it, tell her it is booked and paid for and that it is a present for you not her, that is how much you want to have her with you on this cruise. Once paid for, I think she may put up a polite fuss, but in the end she sounds like the kind of person who will accept your kindness for in the spirit intended.

Southwest usually releases about 6 months in advance, Airtrain used to do that also, I was very shocked to see our dates released already!

We are waiting for JetBlue too. I did check AirTran and their flights were $99.00 each way non-stop. Not sure what we're going to do yet.

Kimberly - I think it is awesome what you are doing for your grandmother......I really hope she goes along with it........I come from a BIG family.......we always say the more of us the better !

I am really bummed out on the flights out of Phila..........come on Airtran...........post some sales!!!! As RKandMJsmommy said, we have not paid more than $79 in years!!! Last year in July we booked at $49!

Man...I haven't had much time to be on the DIS for the past 36 hours or so and you've all been chatty!

I'll state again that I'm feeling so left out and jealous of those of you who have your flights booked. I'm still waiting to see flights from CMH go below $300!!! Typically you can get to MCO for around $200, but with fuel prices, who knows. So waiting until Southwest comes out for some competition may be worth it. Doug, it sounds like you got the deal that I'm expecting! Congrats!

I know its a bit early but has anyone decided on Tenative Excursions?

I was *SO* sure I would know what I wanted to do by the year's end....and I hate to admit that I've hardly looked into it.

The good news is that there are only 3 islands to look into and I'm not sure if Castaway Cay will be much more than bikes and floats! Assuming we go to Costa Maya, I'm 80% certain I have that one figured out. I want to go to Kohunlich Ruins.

I know its a bit early but has anyone decided on Tenative Excursions?

Cozumel: We were thinking of the Royal Dolphin Swim or San Gervasio Ruins & Beach Tour, but aren't sure yet. My DMom and DDad would really like to see the ruins, but don't want to travel an hour and a half or more to see them...plus, we read that it is very hot near the ruins and I don't know if that would be good for them.

Costa Maya: Not sure at all...

You are all way too kind with your compliments about my efforts to get GGrandmother to join us. However, I know I am not the only sweet soul with us who is doing the very same thing for their loved ones.

Lee Ann, I just knew that there would be someone who could relate!

I'm still waiting on a reply from Dreams, but I am growing with anticipation!!! I finally caught up with my DM this afternoon. She's just as excited as I am!!! She said "So when can you drive up here so we can tell her?!?!?!"

I told DM that I came to my DDD family to get your advice on the best approach, and she agrees with all of you. Everyone validated my gut's feeling to just tell it like it is, so thank you for your advice!! One comment that really hit my soft spot was from Danielle, who said "...tell her that, money is not the only, or even the best way, for a person to contibute the vacation fund. Another great idea from a couple of you suggested something along the lines of telling her "that it is a present for you not her, that is how much you want to have her with you on this cruise..." I'm certainly going to use these loving words.

DM loved my idea about the costumes. She said that if we give her the pirate project, she'll certainly feel better and it will give her more to get excited about. Now, I'm trying to picture GGM in this costume, and I have to admit it totally makes me laugh! I can almost see the lifestyle portrait of the three of us now!

I'm noticing one-by-one, our tickers are pushing down from 8 to 7 months!!! I can't believe I started out with a little over 16 months in my countdown, and it's now halfway gone!! I know some of you started with something like 19 months!

Cozumel- i highly recommend the Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel & Beach Party. we did this last time. Other than my daughter( being 5 y.o. at the time and it was her first time snorkling outside of a pool) panicing and almost drowning me, it was a great excursion. i was worried that since alcohol was included there would be some that were too rowdy but it was fine. the crew was awesoe and really went out of their way to get everyone dancing and involved.

i am with whomever said that since we have 2 days at CC i want to do stuff at cozumel and costa maya. i will be making reservations at flounders for josh on those days.

buckeye, we are spoiled. i have NEVER flown to florida for more than $200.00(including taxes). if i was sure i could get it in september, i would wait for the 9.00 fares fROM spirit. my SIL flew her family(5) to jersey at thanksgIving for 240.00. NICE!!!

She was just joking of course, but she is really disappointed. She was looking forward to dressing up all 80's style. We were watching the 100 greatest 80's songs on VH1 this past weekend and it gave us ideas on what to wear. oh well.

She was just joking of course, but she is really disappointed. She was looking forward to dressing up all 80's style. We were watching the 100 greatest 80's songs on VH1 this past weekend and it gave us ideas on what to wear. oh well.

I was so very dissapointed that they dropped this also. We love (loved?) 80s night. I even bought leg warmers for it this time around They were experimenting with some of the new parties on the repo cruise as they had 14 nights to fill. At that time the new ones really did not grab me at all. They all sound very spring break, college crowd to me--not what I am looking for on DCL. I would so much prefer if they left the themes nights the same then but did some updating (like change the bands for the girls vs. guys lip synch thing during 80s night, etc). We can always hope they get so many complaints about this that they bring it back before September.

So Rio is doing a couple of sections in his geography book today. One assignment is to make a brochure for a tourist destination located in the US. I'll give you all one guess as to which one he chose to make a brochure about! NOw, if only my teenager in the making would wake up--it's nearly noon (but we will be up late tonight and she has a belt test tomrrow for karate so she might as well catch up on sleep now--and she, being my little Hermione, is already done with her school work thorugh the April folder.)

My wife thinks I'm crazy because I am already looking for a martial arts school for my son. He's going to be 4yr old in June. I told her that he has to train early so that he can be the next UFC champion . She didn't find that comment funny .

She's going for her brown belt. She LOVES karate. It appeals to her goal setting, perfectionist nature You can tell your wife that Marika is the Sempie (assistant instructor) for the dojo's preschool class (their biggest growing class). There are kids ages 3-6 in there and they seem to do quite well (but you really, really have to have the right instructor for that age group--more so than even at the older ages).

Hmmm, so if your wife and I (and I know I can get Sandi in on it--she and I had the side pony tails going in May) get together maybe we can plan an unofficial 80s night. What do you think would happen if a whole bunch of us showed up in Rockin' Bar D dressed 80's style

Michael--I forgot to point out the obvious that not everyone enjoys martial arts. The only thing about karate Rio likes is the Ralph Macchio movie Kids are all so darn different Marika enjoys the old 80s moie also. She actaully manages to balance standing on her kayak out in the lake in the sumer and practice her punches--of course she got this idea from the boat scene in Karate Kid. One intersting thing the dojo owner has mentioned to me is that consistently in the 20 years he has been doing this there have been about 3 times as many boys as girls starting out in karate. But, more girls seem to stick with it so that by the upper ranks (in her school that woudl be blue belts and higher) the classes are nearly always 50/50. I wonder why that is?

my friend has a $75 jetblue credit from yapta, and is hoping jetblue comes through with a super rate from boston.
