I know it is way too early to worry about this, but there doesn't seem to be any excursions listed for Coasta Maya on the Disney Cruise Line website. Anyone know why that is? I know you can't book anything yet, but at least you can see what is available on Couzemel.

I assume there will be several to choose from, but I can't find them. I know folks on here are going to the ruins. Are you booking that through the cruise line or directly? My kids want to see pyramids and I thought there was an excursion that went to them. Thanks for any help you can give.

Kimberly, You are right the info did not line up. This is because I am a dad and don't keep track of our friend's kid's ages as well as I probably should. I talk to my wife and here are the facts.

I did get my kids right (DD 9 and DS 6)......

Hey...if you got your kids right, that's all that counts, right! :rotfl2: I think so anyways!

Thanks so much for the clarification!!!

LeeAnn--I can't believe you hardly got any snow! We got 11 inches. Everything is so pretty and white again (we still had some of the New Year's snow on the ground but it was getting grey and ick). I shoveled the deck/hot tub lid and path to the electrical box (reading today) and Dave took the snow blower to our drive and our neighbor's. Took about an hour and a half of both of us working on it. :wizard: to your little guy to get off those dang crutches SOON.

Doug--My guess is that DCL is holding off on listing Costa Maya ecursions as Costa Maya rebuilds from the hurricane. It is probably very unclear right now what will or will not be up and running when we are there.
Two years ago, there were excursions to two different sets of ruins (one smaller and closer and one much further away and bigger), horseback riding and a beach day (more also but that is what I recall). We did the DCL excursion to the Kohunlich ruins (which are the big ones far out) and loved it. It is the only cruise line excursion we have EVER done and in this one ciscumsatnce we felt it was great and well worth it to use the crusie line. I do know there is a private company which also does tours which people love. Persoanlly, we were going nearly 100 miles inland to get to the ruins on VERY rural roads. NO taxis or other busses to be had in the event of a breakdown. On the very, very off chance that the tour bus had a flat, etc. I wanted to know I was on an official DCL excursion so the ship would wait for us:rotfl2:

Tiffany--wanting snow is not strange at all. I will try to send some white stuff your way.

Heather-- it is hard to force difficult stuff on your kids. Just keep thinking about that Disney trip over the weekend to get you and your little guy through. Best of luck to you both.

OUr local radio station restarted their morning trivia game:woohoo: They had tried to replace it with some other game but it did not go over well. Why am I happy about this? Becuase I am good at it. Sorta "The Prize Winner of Lakes Region New Hampshire":rotfl: So, today was the first day that I knew it was running to get up and play the radio. I won:yay: :yay: Ski tickets for the family:woohoo: Hee-hee I love this.

NHDisneyLover--Way to go on the free tickets! I once won a $50 gift certificate from the newspaper. Our little local one puts a fake ad somewhere in the paper & if you mail it in, you may win. I mean--how many people actually take the time to do that? I figured the pool would be pretty small, so I tried it once an won!

As far as the pink eye goes, I guess it's called "highly contagious" for a reason. Now DS has it in both eyes, and so do I!:sad2: With these things, I just always am thankful it happened at home & not while we're on vacation. At least I can call the doctor!

Once, when we were in Hawaii with my then-6 year old stepdaughter, she got a horrible ear infection & it was SO hard to reach her pediatrician, talk with him about the problem (she had recurring ear problems, so it wasn't like it was something new!) & get their office to call in a prescription to a Hawaii pharmacy. Luckily, it worked. But poor baby...she had no fun until we got those ear drops!

well we have finally decided what and where we are going pre and post cruise. we are staying at the POFQ the night before the cruise, just going to spend our time relaxing and enjoying the pool. then we will be spending 4 nights at the POP after the cruise (didn't want to have to hop on a plane right after the cruise wanted our vacation to keep on going) we decided to try out the deluxe dining plan, figured after being able to eat 24/7 if we wanted to on the cruise, we might just be used to the idea so thought we would try out the new plan.(they might have to roll us on to the plane when its all over but hey thats what vacations are for).

We'll be at POFQ the entire week before the cruise. Maybe we'll bump into you on that last night:)

Heather - I'm sending some pixie dust your way pixiedust: I hope everyone gets better and has a ball at WDW this weekend!

Well. . .We have snow and sleet in the forecast for Wed. evening! It's not much, but it's a start! Thursday mornings forecast is for rain, so it will not last long. I guess putting out a request for snow did help a little  Thanks everyone!

Lee Ann - Trust me I have iron ons for shirts too! I even have one for Megan that has a bunch of Princess shirts on it that says, "What do you mean it's only a 7 day cruise?". I plan to have a lot of fun with our wardrobe in Sept. Like Heather said, "If you can't match at Disney, where can you match?"

Hey everyone. I haven't been posting much and I thought I'd just say 'hi'.

We made hotel reservations at the Radisson for the night before and the night after the cruise. We haven't booked flights yet, but assume we're going to fly into Orlando International. I'm not exactly sure how we're going to get to the hotel yet (any suggestions?). Then we're just going to take the hotel shuttle to and from the port.

Life's been busy, from work for both of us, dance for me, and school for James we're pretty much swamped. I also got into a car accident over the holiday (their fault, no injuries) so I'm trying to get all that sorted out as well. When I got my first estimate (from the insurance company) they said it would probably need just a new bumper. When I went to the body shop yesterday, they said it may need a whole new frame.

I'm interested in the lanyards, they're a great idea, however, James is Extremely introverted and I'm pretty shy, so I don't know if we'll be coming up and talking to people.

Good to see you Danielle!

Heather--You must haev an extra contagious strain:scared1: I hope you are all well by Friday:wizard: I had a couple of bad bouts of pink eye back when I taught preschool. For a really contagious strain, wash all the pillow cases, towels, etc (anything which touches the face) everyday in hot water (not always needed, but if it is a very contagious strain then it really helps from passing it from one eye to the other over and over).

The dinner table discussion at our house tonight was what would you do if you suddenly and unexpectadly came into $5000? Here are our answers:
Me--Book a trasnatlantic cruise on Cunard or Princess
Dave--exactly the same as me
Marika--put it in the bank
Rio--Back to back crusies on the Wonder
"One of these things is not like the other":rolleyes1 I do so love having such a responisble little girl (she's serious too, she has quite the bank account!).

Congrats on the ski tickets Hadley!! Keep playing and winning. Too bad they don't have a trivia contest onboard the ship.

Tiffany, you're right about Heather's comment...Disney is the perfect place for matching outfits.

Sorry about the pink eye Heather. How is your son doing with the eyedrops..has it gotten any easier?

Danielle - nice to hear from you! We will be staying at the MCO Hyatt the night before our cruise - at least that is the plan right now. We won't be arriving in Orlando until 8 or 9 pm so we just figured the hotel at the airport was convenient.

Hadley & Deb...are you going to the MNSSHP on Friday night?

Hey all....

I'm still alive out here...I know I haven't been posting but my faithful sidekick, Hadley, has been getting everyone geared up for lanyards in my absence!!

I have been very busy and distracted of late so not posting...but reading a lot....but for some reason I stopped getting my update reminder emails so I figured that was the universe telling me it was time to start posting again!! ;)

Erik, I don't think anyone has gotten update reminders since the move to the bew server. I know mine are gone. It does make it hard to keep up.

LeeAnn--We will be at MNSSHP that night if that is the nigth it will be offered. So will Erik and Jsaon I believe. We have never been and they are so excited about it.

So guess what???? I just won more ski tickets on the radio!!! Hee-hee, the DJ said it was okay to call/win again without waiting but I still feel kinda silly. I am NOT callin hte rest of the week:flower3:

Hadley, I am so jealous of the ski tickets. My husband and I met on a ski lift in North Conway, NH way back in 1969. We haven't been skiing for 8 years. There are no hills out here in Kansas.

Ooh, which resort? We went to Mt. Cranmore (which is nearly in town North Conway) for our anniversary last year. Sorry that you are in the flatlands (and yeah, I know just how falt--as a kid MOm and I would drive from Boulder, Co to Marshall, Tx to visit faily every year and Kansas was FLAT:rotfl: ).

Thanks Danielle. I will take a look. I didn't even realize that they had been hit by a hurricane.

An Update on DS broken foot:

Good news here: he had his cast removed today!! Yeah!! We had to go to see an orthotist after the doctor so that he could be fitted for a CAM walker...which, for those who like me didn't know, is sortof like a big skiboot with a slightly rounded bottom, so now he can at least put pressure on his foot and start to walk a little.

Thanks for the link Danielle. I looked at the excursions and now I am more confused than ever.

If anyone has been to the ruins in either port, which would you recommend visiting and why?

I also wanted to ask, if you were flying into Orlando on Friday late afternoon (at the earliest) would you try to make MNSSHP and stay at a WDW Resort or just stay at the Hyatt at the airport and relax?

Room Change

We are no longer in room 6624 we have changed to a Cat5 guar. room. We found out on our 12/29 cruise from the family that was in 6624 that the room was loud. The hydralics for the lifeboats are under that room and they cycle on and off all week!!

We are also thinking about going to MNSSHP but after the cruise. Are the dates out yet for 08?

We joined DVC on this cruise so we will be staying at SSR after the cruise for a few days.

Maureen

1st question: We were on a Western in Oct. 2007 and my 10 year old and I went to Tulum. That is a small Mayan site but interesting and we enjoyed the excursion. I wouldn't recommend doing it with young kids (at least 6 yrs old and maybe older - really depends on the kid). I probably wouldn't do Tulum on this cruise as we just went - I'd like to try something else. But I'd be interested in doing some ruins at Costa Maya if we dock there.

2nd question: We went to a MNSSHP the night before our October cruise and it was a lot of fun. We stayed at ASMu just that one night. The party we went to was considered a "rain out" - it really rained that night! We were not really in a hurry the next morning to get to Port but we still got there before the boarding started. I think as long as you're willing to sleep in a bit you're in good shape. We didn't have a long flight either on Friday (just 2 hours) - but if you're coming in from a long flight or several stops then perhaps you'd want to skip going to MNSSHP.
