 Count me in! I just got back from driving from my mom's. Note the time is 1:13 am. Yeah...DEFINITELY a nap in my future tomorrow by noon! :lmao:

I hope you all had a good holiday and for those of you hitting the stores Friday, I hope you get that bargain you are hoping for!

I am happy for those who can afford to shop. All my money is going to DISNEY. We have 5 kids and 2 adults we are buy gift cards for. 4 of the cards are getting mailed 3 are for local kids but the are all saving to get a big ticket item I can not afford so we will give them money to use towards it.

Next Holiday:
Merry Christmas !!!

Oh and just wondering what everybody's occupation is? Have you already asked that? I stay home with my boys, take a couple college classes here and there and I work part time as a merchandiser with American Greetings.

I'm a merchandiser too. I do Sony DVDs, Tracfone, and Anagram balloons. It's a fun way to make extra money.

Janet and I do Social work for the State of Missouri. We work with folks with developmental disabilties. They live at home with family, on their own or in supported living settings. Our job is to assure any state or federal funds are used properly and if they don't have any of those limited funds we attempt to locate other ways to meet the needs.

The state however is contracting out our job so we will either have to move to the private sector or change what we do. Neither of us know what we will end up doing at this point. We have about one year to get it figured out.

Great Question!

I'm a Domestic Engineer. Also a chef, seamstress, teacher, mediator, cleaning service, entertainment organizer, chauffeur, nurse, hair stylist, housekeeper, gardener, toy mender, landry service, banker, sleuth...

Pretty much "just" a stay at home mom. :rotfl:

Kudos to those of you who work AND get everything around the house done! I could never get it all finished :)

I don't remember anyone saying that they worked and got the stuff at home done too. I have to take the shovel to dig out every month or so. In the mean time I try to keep a path clear between the front door, kitchen, and my bedroom. God love the stay at home moms they have the most difficult job of all. Lois

i am supervisor at tim horton's(coffee and donuts for those that don't know what that is). i am also a single mom of my dd8 (alex) . still working on trying to get the dog to clean the house or the cat or even the fish.

Jason is a software engineer and writes software for a small company based out of Rochester (where we live) that is used by major companies who operate in foreign trad zones.

I work in public health----I work for an not-for-profit HIV/AIDS organization. I do some general HIV work such as testing, counseling, education and running broups....but my job title there technically is "Gay Health Coordinator" and my primary role is to provide training, consultation, and capacity building for health and human service providers around working with LGBTI patients/clients. I also lecture in medical schools and nursing schools all over western New York.

Hi - also answering the question of what we all do for a living..............I work as an Admin Asst in the Import Department for Conair Corporation along with being a Mom of 2 (DD9 and DS2). I am basically the Asst to the Import Manager. We are responsible for all the shipments coming in from overseas. My DH is a Manager in the Electrical dept at Lowes. Our jobs are pretty boring compared to the rest of you!

Happy Belated Turkey Day

Hope everyone who went out today for BF got some great deals, I havent even seen any of the ads

I am a registered nurse on a med/surg floor, graduated nursing school in May 2006, and I worked the past 2 nights hence the reason I saw NO ADS LOL
Dh is a data center supervisor for Marshall's. Unfortunatly we work oppostie schedules:(

We plan to start decorating for xmas TOMORROW, I am so exicted  , this is our first year in our new home, anyone have plans for this weekend?

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! We have our DS Ryan and his wife and baby Mason here - enjoying both of my DSs and their families! Tomorrow we are going to decorate for Christmas and watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

DH is a Supervisor with the Air National Guard and I am an area manager with Arbonne International. Enjoying being a grandma! :cloud9:

We have been talking excursions and Palo ressies all weekend! Getting excited to see that ticker go down to 9 months soon! :dance3:

Hello All. I love the what do you do question (oh and Deb, I think Tim Hortons are the BEST. We had them in Detorit and they have the yummiest doughnut holes ever. Here we only have DUnkin' Donuts and there is juts no comparison).

I am very much limke Heather--I stay home and and try to stay on top of things here (oh and plan vacations! I plan vthem for us, for family, for friends. . . I really should be a travel agent:rotfl: ). Actually, I am rarely at home, but you all know what I mean. Also like Heather, I homeschool (that does take a lot of energy and time but it is working so well for us) which means I am a 6th and 4th grade teacher as well. I also lead Marika's Junior Girl Scout troop and the local Daisy (kindergarten) girl scout troop and the theatre folks cuaght on to the fact that I bake so now it seems I contribute to some bake sale or another every few weeks:lmao:

Dave is a manufacturing engineer who works in the rubber and plastic sectors. He is a Six SIgma and Lean black belt which may mean something to otehr engineer types (hte rest of us have no idea--I know it menas he was gone a lot for training a few years ago :-) ) He is also newly on the board for our local theater group.

Marika is an assistant teacher for the preschool karate class, a Junior Aide at Daisy scouts and a very in demand babysitter in the neighborhood.

And Rio just keeps us all entertained! :rotfl:

We got a good start on the Christmas decorations yesterday. Both trees are up (main tree and Disney tree), stockings are hung, etc. We still need to set up the village and put the monorail around the base of the Disney tree. I also have to finish baking the pieces for the gingerbread train (I'm 2/3 there) so the kids can assemble that next weekend.

We had planned on going to Santa's Village today (quaint little amusement park up north that opens again for weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas) but Marika's ankle is not better and she really, really shouldn't be doing that. There is one Sunday between now and Christmas when we are available so we promised the kids we'll go then. I think we will try to see Enchanted today to give them a bit of a treat still.

Everyone have a fun weekend.

We went yesterday to see Enchanted and really enjoyed it. it is very cute and there are some very funny parts as well. Really good for raising the Spirits.

Happy Holidays to all. Lois

Happy belated Thanksgiving, Double Dippers! :goodvibes

I'm enjoying reading about everyone's jobs/careers/callings/etc. DH is a pharmacist. I'm a researcher at an educational research and development lab. Right now I split my time between evaluating arts- and science-based programs and my new project, evaluating the national Assessment and Accountability Comprehensive Center. I'm about to learn a *whole lot* about NCLB and the behemoth that standardized testing has become in American public schools.

The kicker is, I'm also a homeschooling mom. :rotfl: It is *such* a scandal around the office that I homeschool - you don't find a lot of people who work in organizations dedicated to improving K-12 education who homeschool. ;) So that's my part-time gig... I gave up the full-time career stuff when my littles came along. My #1 job is Mommy - I work T/Th while Gramma takes care of the kidlets, and the rest of the time I'm "just" a SAHM. :cloud9:

Hello!!!

I'm sitting at Starbucks drinking the biggest gingerbread latte that they would make me. I'm SUPPOSED to be writing.......but I'm taking a little DIS break.

What do I do? I'm an Occupational Therapist at the rehab hospital connected to ORMC, which is Orlando's only level 1 trauma center. I'm sure Grandma4ever is about the only person who knows what an OT is ;) In a nutshell, I teach people how to do their basic living skills again, the things most people take for granted. Like putting on a shirt or shoes. Or learning to cook from a wheelchair. Or relearning fine motor skills so they can hold a fork and eat without help. That's what I do Monday through Friday.

On the weekends, I write. I'm a wanna-be writer, so I work on articles and projects and am currently participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) - my goal is 50,000 words by the end of November. I have about 36,000 right now. Crunch time!

I would love, love LOVE to earn a living as a full-time writer, but it takes so much patience and energy that I know it will be a long time before such a wonderful thing could happen. But it's a nice dream......might be something to do when my body wears out from picking up spinal cord patients all day!

Lionel is a teacher at Full Sail, which is a local tech school turned college. He teaches the students how to use web publishing and design programs for their projects. He fixes my computer when I mess it up ;)

Is everyone getting in the Christmas spirit yet? We bought our first present today, finally.....and more lights for the house. One day we might have time to put them up! Going to the Candlelight Processional at Epcot tomorrow night, that should help boost my holiday spirit. :thumbsup2

I'm babbling, which means I am avoiding my book. :rolleyes1 Back to work.
