Back to the issue of ToT...our neighborhood is a gated community & there's hayrides each Halloween that takes the kids around the neighborhood. Most of our lots are 2+/- acres and they're all set REALLY far back from the street, so it's pretty much impossible for littles to walk the entire way.

We always skip the hayrides because it's just plain NUTS...the big kids run likek mad children up to each house & (since everyone ToTs at the same time, there's usually buckets at most houses on the porch) the kids just mad-grab the candy. Drives me nuts.

So DH & I take DS (who's only 4 anyway) on the golf cart door to door ourselves. It's much more fun for all of us that way, and DS can take his time and enjoy.

The only bad thing, though, is that now for the past TWO years, the dang hayride hasn't come by our house. Now, in our neighborhood, unfortunately, there's a "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality & almost everyone gives out full size candy bars. So I couldn't be the *one* neighbor not to do that, so I purchased 100 of those 4ft long pixy sticks...And we were left with 98. What the heck am I supposed to do with 98 monster sized tubes of sugar? :scared1:

Next year, I'm going to forget the whole deal & just get REGULAR candy (shhhh..don't tell the neighbors...I'll be the black sheep of the neighborhood :rotfl2: ) and be done with it.

I wish we had hundreds of ToT kids...I love seeing them all. No luck though!

Anyone want some sugar?

you can always save those pixie sticks for the fish extender exchange. i am allergic to sugar but for some odd reason thats the one candy that doesn't cause any kind of reaction.(and yes thats natural sugar as well leaves me kind of limited on what i can eat)

You really can't beat Kohls...especially their clearance stuff. I always stock up on next season's sizes for DS. And their clearance rack stuff for women/juniors....oh my! There's always SO many racks around here, and my Mom and I get together and use her discount coupons and save tons of $$

At the beginning of the school year, DH gave me a budget of $400 to take step-daughter & myself shopping for clothes. Homeschool Mommies need new school clothes too :) Anyway--our total was almost $400, but by the time we used our coupon and then applied for a Kohl's card, we knocked our total down below $200! It was AMAZING how much stuff we came home with that day--because so much of it was alreadyon sale, plus the coupon, plus the discount for getting a Kohls card. I love a bargain!

I haven't used the Kohls card since--we stick with our one credit card we love--but it was so worth it just to save ALL that money :)

You think Pixy Sticks will last 10 months? I don't see why not--they're not Halloween decorated or anything. They're the Sam's Club bulk concession stand type candy--but the really, really long ones that are plastic tubes!

I may have to test one or two periodically between now & then to see if theyr'e still fresh, but if you find some monster pixy sticks in your FE, you know where they came from!!!! :) hahahahahahaha

I sent my BIL an email of your avatar.......(hope you don't mind) he will just LOVE it!

Sure! It's great to see the Buckeye love run around the country!

I think your idea of taking DS on your own TorT venture sounds MUCH more appealing. It also makes the event more about him, not the ridiculous race!

I had friends who also bought the 100 monster sized pixy sticks at Sam's Club to pass out. They were a hit (duh...pure sugar!!!) I have to admit I enjoyed putting a couple aside for me to take home, too. ;) So your neighborhood kids did indeed miss out on a unique treat! Next year you may be on that new farm, so there will be new "Jones-es" who probably won't worry about quantity as much!! Oh the pressures we put ourselves through!

Before our last cruise, I had read a review of a salon service on the Magic called the Frangipiani (sp?) Scalp Massage. The cost is only $26, and lasts for 30 minutes. It's a scalp massage with some special oil along with a neck massage....

OHHHH my...I could so use that right now, but I want it done while I'm on my bed so I can immediately fall asleep! Great idea, Heather! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to look into that being offered at one of our local spas for my friend. After I introduced him to recognizing how sensitive your scalp can be, he often asks me to rub his head and play with his hair. It's become his "new thing". :rotfl2: He's been asking me all kinds of questions about getting a professional body massage lately, so I had already decided that for Christmas I was going to get him a spa package. What you mentioned may be a nice surprise pamper to spring on him one day, assuming one of our spas offers something like this. I mentioned a facial to him (because they always do a great job at massaging your face, neck, and shoulders), but he's picky about what's put on his face. So this may be a great alternative and even more appropriate!

Kimberly first off glad I'm not going  I'm so bad i didn't even notice that was a pumpkin...what I did notice was all the Ohio in the avatar (I'm a Gopher), my brother is sad that WI lost today (he is a huge Badger fan).

I always associate someone by their avatar, too...so I know what you mean when it gets changed. It's like changing their face and who they are!

Yes...today's win was sweet for us! Sorry for your brother...well a LITTLE sorry. ;) It was a GREAT game. Despite the final score of 17-38, they were keeping the score close for awhile. It had us nervous. Those kinds of games are always better to be at than ones that you're most certain of the outcome! It was exciting to be there for a new Big Ten record breaker, too, which is securing the 20th straight conference win!!

GO BUCKS!!

...Anyway--our total was almost $400, but by the time we used our coupon and then applied for a Kohl's card, we knocked our total down below $200!

:worship: You are my kind of shopper!!! :worship: I get so excited when I can reduce my grocery bill by 30-40% just with the use of coupons!

Speaking of bargains....for those of you with a Filene's Basement around you, THIS IS A BARGAIN SHOPPER'S ALERT. I was there last night (Friday), and they had 40% off all yellow-tagged clearance items in the store. I came home with some really good bargains for gourmet food Christmas gift baskets! All the clothing was tempting, too.

A Kohl's employee told me that you can use the CC to get the additional discounts and then make a payment at the same register and pay it off right there.. :rolleyes1

I ALWAYS shop at Kohls and now lately Fashion Bug too :thumbsup2 Got a beautiful dress on sale for my December cruise for dinner for $10 :woohoo:

I know, isn't the pressure thing silly? While DH & I can certainly afford the neighborhood we live in, our spending habits are nowhere NEAR what some of our neighbors spend. Guess that's why DH has retired completely at 45 and have enough cash on hand for he and I to live to 150 :)

For example, we've had priced out every year what it would cost with different companies to come hang Christmas lights on our house. I'm not spending $2,000 to hang stinkin Christmas lights from my roof. Sorry.

But, so many of our other neighbors spend that (and more) to have their homes professionally decorated inside & out for Christmas. So there's definitely a "keeping up with the Jonses" thing there. Which we gladly take no part of. I do the windows I can reach with lights, but I'd rather pay for a cruise than pay someone to hang lights!

So the thought of being on a farm, with no neighbors nearby, and less of the spend, spend, spend mentality is really appealing. REALLY appealing :)

Not that I don't have some awesome neighbors, but the whole spending thing gets my goat sometimes :rolleyes1

OK....I Googled the exact name and it's the Frangipani Scalp Massage (I spelled it wrong in my first post). DH said that when we went (it was actually formal dinner day at 1:00) he said the salon was completely empty. The salon lady said that men often come in for the service ( I was afraid he'd be the only guy in the place!). We are going to schedule a few while we're on board this time because it was so amazing...

It sounds just delightful. I'm surprised more men do it I think it is something I would totally enjoy. Ok dumb question do you book spa stuff in advance of the cruise or once you are on board?

:lmao: I talked to my brother earlier tonight and he was mopy (sp) about the game he thought they were going to beat Ohio. You guys have an awesome team:cheer2: ..too bad the Gophers are always just terrible.

SO I decieded it would be hella fun to wait till the last minute to go shopping for the ball... please not my sarcasim LOL!:lmao:

NO i just really let it get away from me... Time has just flown by.. with my dad passing, then work, E's dad getting sick, Halloween and just trying to relax well I now have waited till this week to get my shopping done to find somehting for the ball on Weds.... YES this weds!

SO mom and I went to the mall here in Temecula and hit EVERYSTORE. and only thing we could find is short dress's they were really NICE BUT they were more cocktail type dress's not ... NICE Ball type gowns. So I said lets try David's bridal and found a really nice black strapless for $99 sweet... but it didnt fit way too small couldnt zip it at all LOL! On the way home mom said we should try Ross.. UMM OK we go in and the 1st thing I see is a blue strapless dress same design as the black one we found at Davids. I try it on and it too is tight I can zip it but no way I would be able to sit down let alone BREATH... but I bought it... for next yr (no way i could lose the 10lbs I would need for this dress in 4days) but at only $20 it was a steal. Heck if someone else needs a dress for $20 its yours in a size 11/12 LOL. Mom said she could fit into it I said good cuz If i dont find something tmrw after getting my hair done YOUR going to the ball with E.

SO my epic continues tmrw to find SOMETHING. keep your fingers crossed for me! I would like black reasons are
1) I have already done silver, blue, and red
2) it would help hide my rolls LOL

but at this point beggers cant be choosers just hope I find something my fat bum can fit into and not have to pay an arm and leg for. :wizard:

I went shoppping for items to create baskets for this year's bazaars - went to KMART and scored a pirate dress at 50% off for next year    - I'll be a wench ;) as long as I don't gain weight - it would be better if I can lose 10lbs.:lmao: I'll have to post a pic - I tried it on and it looked good with the pirate bandana they gave us in 2005!

I don't get it though, the label said "Adult one size." One size fits who :confused3 Good thing it stretches! :)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but although spa services can be booked ahead of time, salon services must be booked onboard. The scalp massage is considered a salon service.

Just for reference, our cruise a few weeks ago was completely sold out, but there were plenty of times/days to choose from for DH's massage.

Drea, I'm SO excited that you found a dress...for next year...that you love! What a great bargain, too! Maybe you can get double your money's worth and wear it on the cruise's formal night, too? :confused3

"Bippity Boppity Boo,
Please bring a new dress to you!" pixiedust:

Try ROSS--I live in Santee/EL Cajon Area and I always see Dressy Dresses there for super cheap. :cheer2:

crazyzeus1 What is homeschooling in the high seas

Well...in my attempt to make a unique signature...

We're homeschoolers & we continue our learning adventures onboard the ship, so while we vacation, we're "Homeschooling On The High Seas"

Although, I hope they're never really HIGH seas :) I would turn green!

Sorry it's taken me so long to come back to the thread, we're just now done with our honeymoon! Let me just say that the Magic was amazing and we can't wait to go back! :thumbsup2 No trip report though... it would take me forever and a day just to write it :( But I might be able to put up a few pictures once I wade through them all to upload. We ended up printing almost 700 pictures to take out to the parents houses!

Here's our answers to the roll call questions:

# DIS Name: RayaniFoxmur
# Real Name: Liz
# Fellow Passengers/Cabin Mates & ages of kids: My husband, Dave
# Celebrations: 1 Year wedding anniversary! (Actually the day after we disembark but that's okay!)
# Dining Seating (Main or Late): Late seating and actually hoping for another LAP rotation!
# Stateroom: Currently on cat. 5 guarantee boo :(
# Home Country/State/City: USA, Ohio, Northwest Ohio and that's all you're gettin ;)
# Friday Night Pre-Cruise Hotel Choice: Not sure yet, but we may be living down there by then!
# Doing a Back-to-Back cruise 10/4-11? Nope, though I wish!
# Various Interests for the Cruise: I think the Secret Mickey gift exchange, Fish Extender Fun and a Coffee or Martini tasting all sound like a lot of fun!

I'll e-mail a picture once I get the cruise ones uploaded and such :) Is there anything else I need to add? Can't wait to get to know everyone!

Thanks, Liz! That's all I need!

Welcome home...or not! :rotfl2: I hope you and Dave had a fantastic honeymoon vacation...of course the honeymoon itself will last at least another 30 years!
