Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!

....Bright shiny and cold here in Denver! We even had frost! :thumbsup2 We're going right back up to the 70s tomorrow, but it is nice while it lasts!

Wow! As a representative of the antithesis, today (actually the past three days), we've had record breaking high temps in the high 80s and low 90s! Absolutely unbelievable! It's usually in the mid 70's for a high this time of year. It's 10:30 PM right now, and it's 75 degrees! Some schools even had early dismissal today because the older non-airconditioned schools were like brick ovens. Tomorrow, it's back to normal temperartures, though....which is great. I LOVE the fall, so I feel like we're really being deprived. I want to get my sweatshirts out!

Kimberly - I did raise my Sail Away drink for you!

...Doug and I were so nervous the kids would never speak to us again once they found out we went on a Disney Cruise without them, so we brought them a "few" gifts to make it a little easier to swallow.

Thanks for the drink, Tiffany! Jen said she had a few for me, too! Please pass along a happy belated b-day to Doug for me!

So glad to hear that the two of you had such a great time and that the kids haven't kicked you out of the house! :rotfl:

Does anyone play spades????

Sorry, we don't play shuffleboard, but maybe we could also learn!

I use to play spades with friends til all hours of the night.. but I always underbook and once I shot the moon :confused3

Shoot the moon...I think that is Hi-Lo-Jack? Unless you are talking about going nill or nullo, where you do not take any tricks or books. Or the 10-200 where you say that you and your partner can take in 10 tricks together. Oh well. The good news is that when we play, we don't penalize for under-booking! Unless the ones we play with want that rule.

Yup, we can waste a ton of time on that game. It is so sad, we left all of our spades playing friends in FL when we moved up here. We met them at VWL a couple of years ago and we played in the Iron Spike Room until 3:30 in the morning!

We always carry at least a deck or 2 with us.

OOps "shoot the moon" is in Hearts

Moon or Boston is in Spades
or Blind Moon

When I was a kid we'd occasioanlly play a three person version of the Southern dominoe game 42. The three person version is called Shoot the Moon. I wonder if the game is anything like Spades or Hearts? We tend to play Euchre or Canasta at our house.

Dominoes? like the tiles with the spots on them ?

My brother and I used to set those up for hours and Video Tape them as they fell.. :goodvibes

Anyone wanna set up a shuffle board game(s) a friendly compition or something?

Doug and I tried this. The Wonder was almost down one puck. It was the first time I had ever played and I pushed the a little hard and I can't aim. It did stop before it went overboard though. We quickly put the game away and left. :lmao:

We might be up to try again! We like card games too! I would need a refresher course for Spades - Hey Muushka, perhaps we can get together and play before the cruise? We are only about 20 minutes from Cary.

Kimberly - Happy Belated Birthday to you too! I planned to get back on and wish you a Happy Birthday before we left, but things got a little crazy around here once my mom arrived.

The kids are not mad at us. In fact they were playing like they were going on a Disney Cruise last night. Megan had her dress up clothes packed in a rolling back pack and Grady was a Cast Member greeting her. Too Cute!!! :lmao:

Then I forgot to take pics of us to show that we did it :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao:
That is exactly like me and Jason!!! We just made up our own rules...and then someone pointed out to us later that I think the rules are posted on the wall right by the shuffleboard equipment!! :lmao: :lmao:

I would love to see pics! Im just nosie like that LOL and love looking at pics :)
Your wish

Here is what you see from the front door

Now from that corner to the front door

One bathroom view

another bathroom view with sink

And more shelving across from sink

Belle, any concerns from the layout? To a layman's eyes, it seems like it would be easy to get to things and manuever around the room.

Thank you for sharing!

Oh, and there's a stateroom pictures thread--are you interested in contributing these pictures?

Erik--OMG are the shuffleboard rules REALLY posted right there?!?! We never noticed and just make up our own rules as well:rotfl2:

pfishgirl--yes, tiles with dots:lmao: . They are great for lining up and knocking down (Rio does lOTS of that). We haou a double 12 set and play Mexican train dominoes fairly often with the kids. But I miss 42 (played with double 6s). When I was a kid I spent every summer at my grandparents house and that was THE game in town. We have moved a lot and it seems every area has a more regioanl game that is popular. Generally card games. My theory is it was dominoes in the deep south becuase in the days before A/C we played out on the porch in the evenings and the cards would have blown away:confused3

Hadley... I've played Mexican train several times, all while in Mississippi. :rotfl:

Kiddo got a hold of our Mancala game last night and was driving us crazeeee playing as loudly as possible. She went downstairs to the kitchen and got a pair of chopsticks to use as drumsticks for the metal gameboard holder. Then there's her absolute joy of dropping the glass beads into the tin holder... LOTS of possibilities for music there! :rotfl: And before you ask, no, we did not take the game away from her because she was giggling away at her accomplishments. I find it amazing she remembered the chopsticks!

I don't think I'll bring out the dominoes from the coat closet any time soon! :rotfl:

My parents LOVE Mexican Train....although Jason and I have never fully understood it. They made me buy a game set and it sits in our closet collecting dust. Hadley and her crew will remember that Jason and I like Euchre (Jason just learned to play before our last cruise). Jason and I are also very into party boardgames----like Pictionary, Taboo, Scattegories, and anything by Cranium. Of course we also love High School Musical Scene It (the DVD game)----which my cheerleaders bought me for my birthday! :rotfl:

Hi Everyone...
I can't read through all 2400+ posts...so I will start right now at this last page and work backwards. DH and I just booked this cruise yesterday. We are so excited.

This will be my 2nd Disney cruise and DH's first Disney!

That rocks! I like those games, too... So long as I don't have to sculpt anything in Play-Doh. One of my favorite "in-jokes" is "BabyFishMouth!" when DH and I are just not communicating on the same wavelength.

:welcome:

Glad you all had a great cruise grumpy-gramps & not so grumpy grammy and you're ready to go at it again!!! I'm so excited for you!

Eorlover...I love your screen name! You'll be showing the ropes to the DH, no doubt!

As you've seen, our thread has quite a busy bunch of chatters! As the Cast Roll Call List keeper, let me suggest that you check out Post 577 (link in my signature) to see if there's anything else listed there that you would like to share about yourselves. There's a new website currently underdevelopment (the old one is found in a link under my signature), and the information you give me will get posted up there!

Post 577 is also a good "go-to" thread to see what kind of activites we've been talking about. If you have other suggestions, please share!!! For some of the activities that may make you say "Hmmm...what is that?!", I tried to add links to other posts that discuss it. Certainly ask if there's anything you want to know more about. This post also has info about locating our cruise logo so you can use it for door magnets, your siggy, or whatever you choose.

Can't wait to get to know all of you!!
