I just have to share this chuckle... Fiona has seen other people stick things behind their ears, and she just HAS to have this RIGHT NOW. I tried explaining how her ear is too tiny to hold onto things, but she isn't listening. I must have put her marker behind her ear 15 times in the last 5 minutes. :rotfl: What a cutie!

Cute Cute Cute! Little girls can be so much fun! princess:

Saturday I asked the kids to clean their rooms. Megan came running out of her room with her "magic wand" (the wand she got from Cinderella's Castle last November) and told Grady she was going to use magic to clean her room and she would share her magic because she had a lot! She was so cute waving it around pixiedust: , but her room is still a mess. :rotfl:

Welcome Cathicool and family! :cool1: The more the merrier! party:

count us in! we actually made our plans back on 1/31/07, but just getting around to adding us to the list!

we are a group of 7......

Cathi and Jeff (me and hubby)....celebrating our 12 yr anniversary on 9/29/08

kids:
DD 8.5, DS 6.5, DD 4 (birthday 9/16)

and my parents James and Virginia, will be coming too....

YEAH!!!! Welcome to the busy bunch! Your family tips us over 350 DISers, family, and friends! (Updated stats are out on 577 if anyone is curious. :) )

I'm assuming the ages of your little ones will be their age at time of cruising. If so, I'm pleased to tell you that there will be four other DPrincesses at the age of 8 to join your daughter, eight DPrinces to chum up with your DS6, and four little beauties in addition to your DD4! Additionally, Doug46 has friends joining us with a DKid8 and DKid6, however, I don't know their gender.

Cathi, feel free to check out Post 577 (link is in my siggy) to see if there are any cruise interests noted there or others that you can suggest, and I'll make note of that as well and ensure it's all uploaded to the new website when it's ready to make its debut!

Hi all,

Just posting to say that we'll be on this cruise. We just came off the 9/15 Eastern and were kind of disappointed in the ports and figured that two Castaway stops were what we needed on our next cruise.

So... :wave2:

Just a public proclamation:

Buckeye Gal, you ROCK!!! As do LadyShiva and the others on this thread that have gone out of their way to make EVERYONE feel welcome and a part of this cruise. I have been on other DCL cruises and did not stick with the thread, but this one just feels like home.

:grouphug: To all who work hard on this thread to make it so special.

PS Welcome RetroJulie! You have joined a GREAT cruise!

I am attempting to post. I think I did one other time for a previous cruise. Lois - grandma4ever has been the poster.

I am looking foreward to this double dip. It already seems like a great group of people are cruising.:yay:

The only positive to it being so far away - is it gives me some time to save up the money to spend.

We have not told Austin and Beth (Lois' grandkids in the picture) that we are doing another one without them. :guilty:
Hey I even managed to get some smiley things in there. Sometimes I'm easily amused.
Well off to do :laundy: and other fun things for my day off!

:rotfl: If it had worked, I would be begging that wand for my house!!!

Muushka, Fiona has every kind of washable Crayola marker out there. The yellow one that NEEDS to be behind her ear is actually the thin one; it's about the size of a straw already. She finally managed to wrangle her hair and her ear to the -right- spot to hold the marker for a moment. She was so proud of herself! :teeth:

Oh, and now that I think about it, that must be where the yellow marks are coming from that are mysteriously showing up on her cheeks. :thumbsup2

Have a great day, everybody! :hippie: I'm enjoying keeping up with this thread. :)

Awe schucks....I assure you it's genuinely my pleasure to connect with all of you. I'm so glad you feel you're "at home" here! I know I do!! I echo your sentiments about everyone here being so friendly! It's very much appreciated by me as well!

(I really needed that warm fuzzy today, too....so an extra special THANK YOU, Barb!! )

Hello Everybody!

First of WELCOME to even more newbies. We are going to have so much fun taking over the ship. Kimebrly--or anyone else--how many other girls will be 11 in addition to Marika and Abby (hoagiepie's DD)? And how about 9 y/os? I hope someone gets a google group set up for the kids soon (note: I am well aware tha t I am not volunteering to set it up so I totally can't complain)--I think it may take them a year just to get everyone's names down:rotfl2:

Brandie--adorable story about Fioana. She sounds like such a sweetheart. This would absolutely be a choking hazard so you would have to keep an eye on her, but try slipping one of the soft, rubbery, cylindrical "grippers" onto the marker. It will make it fatter, but those things do hold. This worked for Rio when his ear was too small to fit anything behind it--the darn thing gripped well enough to stay on TOP of his ear for about a minute at a time (which as you know is a LONG time in toddler land). Watch out for long hair getting pulled by the grip effect!

Luvtheears--Your sweetie sounds utterly adorable also. What a sweet scene that must have been (now if only the magic had worked:rolleyes1 I'd be fighting Brandie for use of the wand).

We had a lovely weekend here in New Hampshire. Friday night we went to see an Irish Group called "Music at the Crossroads" in their first performance in the U.S.A. What an amazingly talented group of young people. We were all four thouroughly entertained. If you ever have the chance to see them, do yourself a favour and go. Saturday we took advantage of the perfect fall weather and skipped out on many of the many chores we should be doing to spend most of the day playing around in the yard. In the evening we got to spend a nice long time playing canasta with friends. Yesterday we goofed off again becuase the weather was still perfect. We took some hikes and found two new letter boxes. Now I just have to catch up on all the chores I let slide to enjoy the weekend so much:scared:

Hi, Julie!!! I saw your post and your signature's picture was a recent sight for me. Somewhere recently I've seen a post from you!! Glad you're on board with us!

If you haven't read this suggestion already, please feel free to check out Post 577 in my signature block. It gives you some key questions about your profile that I can put in our little handy dandy database spreadsheet. Lady Shiva's DH, Jeremy, will be using this info to include it on our upcoming website!

I am glad you got that warm fuzzy that you and the other great people that are so instrumental in keeping up this thread deserve.:cloud9:

I just wanted to pass on the news that is it already SNOWING here in Colorado! Not here in Denver--oh no, we got rain and hail--but in the mountains!

Craziness... Have I mentioned how last winter we had 12 straight weeks of winter blizzards? We'll take all the water we can get to try and end this drought (and not have to worry about wildfires :scared1: ) but that was a LOT of snow!

Here's a picture from the first blizzard of last year:
aaa.thumb.jpg

Not our Jeep (actually, we don't know whose Jeep that was outside our neighbor's house), but that was in the suburbs, not up a mountain! We're 5 houses in from the big street, and we have a grocery store right down the road, but wow! That was SOME snow!

In addition to Markia and Abby, there will be two other 11 yr old ladies. Since there are currently so few, I also checked for others around their age. My findings are that there are seven 10 yr old girls and two 12 yr old young ladies as well.

As for Rio, he wiill have five other 9 yr old princes to hang out with.

Thanks BuckeyeGal... I'll check it out.

Not to be too nosy, but where are you located in Ohio? I was born in Dayton and then moved around the state. I lived in Newark, Vandalia, Delaware and graduated from Logan. Also went to OU in Athens for a short time in the
80's.

I don't mind at all! I'm in Dublin, actually. If you were in Delaware, I know you know where that is (NW suburb of Columbus). I grew up in a small little town called Shelby (which has been in the national news a lot this summer for the severe flooding) and moved to the "big city: :rotfl2: in 1989. I know of all the little towns you mentioned!

Sounds like you moved away from the OH-IO land though. Do you go back to Dayton or elsewhere here to come back here to visit family?

Speaking of Shelby being in the news, I heard it mentioned on the radio on my way into work this morning. Low and behold, a little Googling showed this story made it to the national news!!!

Get this.

A woman found a digital camera outside of the Horseshoe (the OSU Stadium for all of you who don't know what a Buckeye is (the candy or the nut!!). :rotfl: She took it home and downloaded the pics. As she looked through the photos, she found a face that made a frequent appearance and emailed the picture out to 14 of her Buckeye fan friends. Can you believe that this email found its way to the owner in less than 48 hours??? You know what they say about 6 degrees of separation....unbelievable!!

GREETINGS ALL!!

First off....
:welcome: to all our new cruisers. I swear our group is getting so huge that we're going to have to reserve the Walt Disney Theater for our meet and greet before sail-away! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And, of course, the votes are in and the clear winner of the "pick-a-cruise-logo" contest is Version #4...which is basically the following:
Lanyard5.jpg

I know that this was not a UNANIMOUS vote, but I hope that everyone is still happy with what we selected as a group!

First off I want to say a huge THANKS to everyone who participated in the process of arriving at this logo!! Drea (anewmac) did a boat-load (pun intended!!:lmao: ) of work up front in generating ideas, collecting images and clipart and sharing them. I can assure you that I would NEVER have come up with something this fun and appealing without her...at least not in a timely fashion!! Beyond that lots of people generated some really great feedback and ideas...people scoured the net for images of treasure chests and ice cream cones and sent them to me....ALL APPRECIATED!! And, of course, a whole lot of you took the time to look over the logos and actually put in your two cents and vote for your favorite! What a fantastic group process!!

I will work on creating the image in various sizes and see if there is any other clean up necessary....but before I do, I mentioned that Chris (scoobypop) was toying with some ways to spice up the title font a bit.....before I ask him for anymore help with that, though, I wanted to quickly get some feedback from the group on if they even think it's necessary. Below is a very rough copy of what he suggested might be cool (adding color and a 3-D effect).

What do people think?

Yes, I do know where Dublin is.

In the early 90's I moved to Florida for good. Most of my family is still up there. My brother lives and works in Delaware. He's a paramedic there. My mom lives in Delphos (close to Lima).

It's been almost two years since I was up there. However, another trip is scheduled for the near future. *After* all that snow is gone.

Ummm... just a question. What is the logo used for? Do we put it on our door signs. I *know* I could go back and read the entire thread but, come on people, I'm at work here. Gotta look busy and it's hard to do so with happy faced icons and sparkly siggy's gleaming on my monitor.

DIS surfing on the sly... ;)

What do people think?

I think the second one has just a bit more class. The wording just stand out a little bit more. I will be interested to see what others think. Erik thank you for all your work in putting this together for us. I spoke with Janet and her vote was for the 3-D one as well. Lois

Hello retorJulie--lots of people like to put the logo in the DIS signature so everyone else can be jealous of the crusie we will all be taking:rotfl: Additioanlly, everyone on the crusie will be getting a custom made lanyard with a name tag when we embark. The logo (with names at the bottom) will be the nametag. Finally, many of us liek to purchase t-shirts, tote bags, etc with the logo of our specific crusie on them. Someone will use this newly created logo to create a cafepress store so anyone who wants to shop can do so (great way to let those who do not know about the cruise know they are going is to give them a t-shirt, etc as a holiday gift).

Erik:hug:   THANK YOU (and Drea) for working so hard to create such a fabulous logo. You deserve a vacation (oh yeah, you have trips to DL and WDW in the works--but you do deserve them!). About the title: while Chris' idea sounds good to me in theory it just doesn't look right to me and I like the first logo you posted better (just my two cents worth) but I am thinking maybe if you play with it a bit more we can get the "pop" idea to look a little more polished and "right" (not that you need to spend any more time on this).

Kimberly, thanks for the stats on 11 y/o. The 11-12 group is kind of small, but that actaully fits Marika's personality just fine:thumbsup2
