I was going to say the same thing to Erica! "Do you really think this thread was idle?" :rotfl2:

Speaking of our busy board....TRACEY, YOU ARE THE LUCKY 1000th POSTER!! Unbelievable...we're still 464 days away!!

Heading back to Buckeye country this afternoon....or let's say I HOPE I will be. Sounds like even today there are flights being cancelled due to yesterday's computer issues.

Did ya have to taunt me with the "buckeyes" again?:lmao: Good luck on getting home today.

Tracy, I just noticed your ticker. When will you be at WDW in September? We will be there through the 15th. So, we could go to MNSSHP on the 14th. This is being debated. Have you been? Should we do it? WIll you be there when we are--it'd be nice to meet up with you for lunch or something and put a name with your posts a year before the cruise.

We arrive on the 21st. Darn, we'll miss you. My ticker might be wrong, I don't know. I changed dates a couple of times. :rolleyes1

We love MNSSHP. We're going on the 30th. They keep raising the prices and it costs an arm and a leg now. We were planning to do two, we've always done two, but I think I might just stick with one this year.

Kimberly -
what part of buckeye country are you headed to? We're going to Gallipolis this weekend for a family reunion. Driving rather than flying though.

I did think it was a little strange......:rotfl:
I checked all my options and while I am SUPPOSED to be getting emails with updates, my inbox is still empty! :confused3

Ah well.

Okay. I'll call at the beginning of the year to get the available dates for each event and we can see what everyone is interested in. :goodvibes
Ohh this sounds like fun. Count us in:thumbsup2

Ok I know I'm not Tracey (Hi Tracey :wave2: ) but I agree with her MNSSHP is fabulous and it is one of the reasons I go to WDW in the fall. The parade and fireworks are not to be missed. You will have the parade music stuck in your head for weeks afterwards it is that good. Lots of great character interactions as well.

Hey--I am open to advice from one and all. I think we do want to do it (okay we absolutely want to do it, it is just do we want to do it enough to justify the $$$?). If not this year, then enxt (pre cruise trip).

I probably missed it somewhere, but what is MNSSHP? I will be there in November and if it's something fabulous, I don't want to miss out! It will only be my 3rd trip to Disney World so everything will be spectacular, and I want to make the most of it!:cool1:

MNSSHP is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I doubt it is happening into November. Usually runs mid Spetember through October 31.

Welcome back Tammie. How was your trip?

Thanks, Lisa! Our trip was great - I have been so busy, I haven't had time to post - you guys have been really busy - I am having a hard time catching up - lanyards, balconies, fish extenders - OH MY!!!

Fiona was 22 months when we went to HDDR, and she had a blast! Her favorite parts were using the spoon to make a racket with the washboard and sticking her face in the strawberry shortcake:

I agree it was corny!

How SWEET! Welcome, Brandie! My niece and nephew loved it too, especially those washboards! I am posting my TR now - some days were better than others for us! :rolleyes1

Hi Erica, Kimberly, everyone - I haven't posted in so long I can't get my names straight! I told my DH we were having all of you in to our cabin, 6080 for a party - he believed me :lmao: He's wondering where we will put everyone! I guess he's used to my crazy ideas - he just tries to make them happen. I'll try to catch up more later, gotta get posting on my TR! Come and join me!

They did add one MNSSHP this year that falls in November. It's the first Friday, right after Halloween, I think it's the 2nd of November.

And I agree about the parade and fireworks. They're great! My DD still sings the Boo To You song every now and then, LOL. She remembers some of it from last October. It definitely sticks in your head. In a good way... sort of, LOL.

*chuckle* Thank you! I know what you mean about some days being better than others, though.... Wooweee! Sometimes I need a vacation FROM my vacation!

DH -hates- to go on vacation, but he loves being on one, he says. I guess I just have to tell him where to be when, and not tell him how much things will cost! *argh*

*wave*

That’s hilarious! What a good man he is! I am following your TR, too. Looking forward to the next installment! You've left us hanging with the teaser!!

Rhonda, I hope you have good travels to and good times in Gallipolis this weekend! I actually live in a suburb of Columbus, so I was heading back home yesterday after being in NYC Mon-Thurs. Good news for you that you’re close enough that you’re actually able to drive!! I’ve traveled twice in the past 3 weeks, and both flights home were just no fun. I swear summer storms cause more delays than winter weather!

As mentioned, of course that way back home from NYC couldn’t be uneventful. I’m sure any of you who fly in/out of NYC or even Newark know delays are to be expected. After a minor delay of 20 minutes pushing away from the gate, I figured after a typical backlogged tarmac delay, we were setting pretty good! Oh no No No NO NO, silly girl!! Well…. we sat on the tarmac for two (count them, 2) hours. I know it’s not nearly as bad as some have experienced, but I’m still going to exercise my voice of frustration, but we passengers tried to have some fun.

The flight attendants did their best to keep us happy, and we passengers did our best to keep it light hearted. One of many stories comes from the antics of one of my colleagues who was sitting in the row behind me. :joker: After becoming “friends” on the tarmac with his seat neighbor, he mentioned to the man sitting beside him “You do know you have an uncanny resemblance to a famous person, right?”

The man replied “Oh yes. I hear it a couple of times a week actually. I look like Giuliani. I know you didn’t mean Tom Cruise!!”

Of course a few minutes later, curiosity couldn’t hold me back any longer, and I had to turn around to look at this guy. Oh my goodness did he EVER look like Rudy! Being maybe 10 pounds lighter with a tad darker hair, and he could have easily passed for Rudy. If it weren’t for me listening to this guy’s voice for over an hour first, I would have questioned it myself.

After some humorous conversation around the look-alike, my colleague played with the head Sister Mary-like flight attendant, who was as sweet and innocent as your grandmother would be. He told her “You know that you’re holding this important man up in this plane when he has a lot of valuable, significant work to accomplish, right?”
popcorn:: She looked over at him, and after about 4 seconds, you could see her eyes suddenly go bug-eyed. :sail: She was startled and started stumbling over words with expressive apologies for us being late, adding “I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I don’t even know what to say other than we’ll get you on your way as soon as possible.”

It was soooo funny. When they told her he really wasn’t Rudy Giuliani, her body language was like a balloon being deflated! Maybe you had to be there, but with the cramped confines of a 3-across, 19 row plane, it was some much needed entertainment!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Today, I got this hot tip from a poster on Erica's "Geeks on a Budget" thread and ordered tonight.

PassPorters.com just put up the closeouts on DCL and WDW books. They have the DCL deluxe starter kit for the 4th edition (2005) for $11.95!! This deluxe starter kits with the 3 ring binder sells for $40 in the stores. :cool1:

I've been reading the 3rd edition that I found at the library, so in my opinion, I absolutely feel $12 is worth it. Yet wait!! I'm not done!! If you already have an older version of PassPorter, register it on-line, and you get a code for a 30% discount on top of the closeout price. If you don't have a PassPorter already, sign up for their mailings, and immediately get a 20% coupon to use. So you can get the $40 kit for as little as $8.37!! I purchased two deluxe versions plus two of the Cruise Clues books, and my shipping cost was close to $5...so even that is reasonable.

Keep in mind when the 2008 version comes out in January, you can apply the repeat reader discount (30%) to the refill package. That will be less than $16 for a $22 retail priced purchase. They'll even inform you when it's time to order the 2008 edition.

I LOVE a deal!! Don't forget that they also had many other books for WDW on clearance as well.

Magicfor2--Can you please post a link to your TR? I am guessing it is not for cruise as I looked for it on the first page over there. If you're posting at all it satys o nthe first page:rotfl2: Mine's still there and I have only managed to post enought to get about half way through day 3 of a 14 day cruise:lmao: I'm sure I'll loose all of my few reader soon;)

Kimberly--Love the Giuliani story:rotfl: The longest we ever sat on the Tarmac was 6 1/2 hours. It was the Friday before Thanksgiving in 2001 and someone had run through security in Atlanta. This shuttle Atlanta down and rippled through the rest of the country. It happened after we boarded but before we took off on a flight connecting through Atlanta. We sat there 6 1/2 hours with the entire crew thinking they would eventaully clear us to go before they gave up and put us all back off and found us flights the next day. I will never forget Rio (almost 3), having eaten dinner and wathced a movie on the plane, walking off and asking how long the taxi to Mickey would be? Poor kid didn't realize we hadn't gone anywhere yet.

:lmao: :lmao: And this would be why we drive!

I'm flying with my DS (7) and DD (4) from Raleigh, NC to Portland, OR in a couple of weeks. This should be an experiece! DH is staying home this time. Someone has to work to pay for the cruise.

Hey all....sorry i haven't been that present lately...real life has been getting in the way of all the DISboard fun....but now I'm back!

I noticed discussion of MNSSHP....this past year Jason and I coincidentally ended up being at WDW on the opening weekend of the party in mid-September...and decided to get tickets. It POURED rain for most of the party...and it is one our favorite Disney Memories!! We had an amazing time and I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence. I already know that we are going next year. We're going to miss it for our our Sept trip this year (2007) but for the week before the Double Dip we'll be able to catch it and we're definitely going...and dressing up!! We'd love to see anyone there...in fact it would be cool to make the night before the cruise a DISmeet at the MNSSHP!!! :thumbsup2

Hi All,

It has been a busy weekend. Friday the kids and I took advantage of the cool temps (low sixties for highs) and on again/off again rain to visit Storyland with no corwds. One thing I love about my kids is they were raised on Disney World and yet can still enjoy a simple little park like this (though it is clean and has a really nice staff--they hated Six Flags in Denver which was"icky" and staffed by "kinda mean people"). The park began in the 50s and still has some origianl play areas (Old Woman's Shoe, Peter Pumpkin Eater's House, etc.). Very nostalgic and sweet. Also, the prices are almost staright out of the 50s. I put a $20 in my wallet for food and came home with $6.00 in change (we had grilled cheeses and hot dogs with chips and drinks for lunch, shared popcorn, shared fried dough and all had sno cones). Yeah, we were the crazies with sno cones on a breezy 60 degree afternoon!:lmao: Had the sno cones, rode the flume ride and the river raft ride as our last three things and then jumped in the car, soaking wet and shivering and ran that heater. TOTALLY fun.

Yesterday we hiked/walked around Flume Gorge with our friends. It is lovely. So nice to live in a palce like this.

Today Marika's karate school has a picnic so we are about to head off again. No wonder I can't keep up with the laundry:lmao:

Erica--I stopped getting email updates from the DIS sometime yesterday:scared: Something strange is afoote at the Circle DIS

Erik--I think we will wait for MNSSHP until next year so we can go with friends. I had hope you and Jason would be in on that BUT planning to go to a late party the nigtht before the cruise obviously comes from someone without kids:rotfl2: Besides, aren't we all doing a grand gathering that evening????? Now, should you wish to go any other night that we are there:rolleyes1

So, I was messing around on allearnet.com this morning. I noticed Deb has a (not yet funtioning) link on the side (while reading her med tips just for kicks) for a "September 2008 Double Dip" OMG, do you think we are sailing with Deb?!?!? It would be weird to meet her after all of these years of reading her site.

Okay, I gotta make s'mores bars for the picnic (taking them there so I only get one; thinking PINK). Have a good Sunday all.
