I have to second Erik's comments about Rachael. Although this was our 4th cruise on the Magic it was the first time we have had Rachael as Cruise Director. Wow, she is so much more invloved and dedicated than hte person they had on our previous two cruises. We were particularly impressed htat she was standing out on the dock wishing everyone a good trip home as we left on the alst day. We left around 9:00 and were told she had been there since at least 6:30!

Amen! I so so SOOO hope she's cruise director on the Double Dip! (And if any DCL spies are lurking around readin this thread.....go get a pen and put the Double Dip in INK on Rachel's schedule for next Sept. please!!):lmao: :lmao:

Sooo....you know..just think about making 2...you know...one for practice that will be slightly wonky...and um one that's much more put together... just like their owners! (ie wonky for me... put together for you and "collins")

*giggling* I'll um even help you shop for fabric in July...:cool1:

You know, we absolutely CANNOT tell my husband what we are up to or you and I will both be subjected to the dreaded "sigh and eye roll" - I know it well. That is why I read my Passporter at night, when I won't be tempted to go "oooh, baby, listen to this!!!" :rotfl:

My Joann's (I was in there today....I am always in the market for satin-look Disney print fabric to make more ties out of ;) ) has two very fun cotton Nemo fabrics that would make great fish extenders!

Nemo fish extenders! I love it :thumbsup2
I wonder if I could find some fabric with Jacques......

I mentioned Disney Tie night to DAvid and got rolled eye and "I don't even own a Disney tie." As if htat matters! We haev 15 months to shop for one. I don't know why I bothered to mention it; I'll just pack what I get him and tell him when to wear it. When he is a part of the festivities he will LOVE it.

If anyoen ever comes across an Atlantis tie in their search and doesn't want it PLEASE post where it is for me--I'd love to snag somethin like that for David but I fear it does not exist.

Oh, and the Buzz/Woody and little green alien dudes tie set was my FAVOURITE store bought set of Jason and Erik. I do hope that is a set htat reruns on the Double Dip.

We are a corny family, WE LOVE TO DRESS ALIKE. I just bought the hawaiian shirts for Dh and Ds and the dresses for DD and myself ( I bought a size smaller so I HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT BY THE CRUISE) from Disneyshopping.com. I also bought the lime green T shirts for our trip in December, I think we have enough matching shirts for our whole cruise and them some. I LOVE the tie idea, our entire family would be in for that.

We have NEVER been on a disney cruise, how many shirts and ties does dh have to bring, I will start collecting disney ones NOW if we need them for everynight. To be honest dh is more a khacki & golf shirt kind of guy but will go with the flow.

Also some opinons from my double dip experts. We are staying at BCV in Dec for 5 nights, we booked the poly luau, any experience with it? It was between that and HDDR and Dh chose the Poly. We are doing MVMCP but no parks, just hanging at the pool, doing water mice and exploring the resorts decorated for Christmas:woohoo:

Hmm... is there a suggested packing list somewhere? I've never cruised either, and while I don't want to pack our entire wardrobes, I do want to make sure we have what we need. What does everyone else take? I'm thinking a couple of swimsuits each, shorts and tops (a set for each day?), dinner attire, semi formal and formal attire, pirate night, shoes to match all this stuff... oh my! It's my entire wardrobe plus some. :rotfl:

Hi there, everyone!

Another lurker here, deciding its time to come out of the shadows. I still have to go back & read all the tons of posts from the beginning, but have been keeping up for the past couple of weeks or so.

US (at time of cruise):
DW 39
DH 47
DD 5
(I can't believe we'll be that old then!)
staterm: 2076 (with a view of the outside world - can't wait!)
celebration: 15 yr anniversary (about 6 mos after the actual date)

We've cruised once before - on the Big Red Boat way back in 1993. Amazingly, we shared a cabin on that one w/my uncle. It will be very different this time w/a 5 year old - at least she doesn't smoke! (we're both ns)

Have to admit, LuvtheEars (a friend of ours) is the 'bad influence' that got us (well, ok, me) interested in this cruise. Once she started crowing about it, I just had to check it out & then book. <sigh>

Luv': I see you've been a very busy girl on the boards! Glad you found the board! Missed you & DS Tues evening. Glad DD could make it (DD here was excited she was there). If you're willing, I'll get you dis fabric for a FE & exchange you a dis button or pin for it (your choice - w/in reason :) - from those on board).

Stargater: Did I see that you're celebrating an adoption? Our DD was adopted from China back in 2004.

I'm interested in FE & Secret Mickey (those types of things are so much fun).

Thanks, Buckeye Gal. I've enjoyed 'eavesdropping' on the conversations thus far.

Funny, my dad is a proud Buckeye also. He's been a buckeye transplanted to the south for longer than I've been around, but says he still misses the snow.

cyndifan, welcome aboard! :goodvibes

Your DD and mine will be in the kids club together, I think. Mine will also be 5 at the time of sailing!

Oh yeah! The kids club is a huge plus. DH & I are looking forward to being able to do some adult stuff on our vac for a change.

I've read though that some kids only stay 1-1.5 hrs at a stretch. It is common for kids to only stay that length of time? Or does it really vary from kid to kid (some stay much longer at a time)?

Going back to an earlier post, are ties 'required' for dinner for the guys?

Hey,

Got your message. : )

As it stands right now, it's:

at time of sailing

DD (4)

Bro's wife (27)
DD (2)

Sister-in-law Family (my brother's a grump and is staying home)
Sis (43)
DS (20)
DS (17)
DS (15)

And who knows.... maybe more ? ?

Thanks, Meredith!! You go girl with that recruiting!! :goodvibes That's awesome to have so many of your family members with you!!

Your BILs need to change their minds!!!

Well, I have had to take a break from sewing my FE. My sewing/embroidery machine keeps locking up and I'm getting frustrated. Time for a tune up I guess.:sad2:

Cindifan!!! You came out of hiding!!!! We'll talk about the trade later!

Ummm - I'm not sure who asked about the Poly Luau - We went last November and it was OK. We had DS (5) and DD (3) in tow and they did not get into it as much as I would have liked. I think the show at the WL would have been better. The food was great and the wine was free. We were stuck in the back, but center stage and could see everything very well. I'm not sure what else to add. I most likely will not do it again next time, but opt for a different show.

OK - I'm going back in - Wish me luck. The machine might be sleeping outside tonight if it does not start working right.:scared:

Sorry, but :rotfl: . Not laughing at ya...it's the OHHHH how I can relate that makes me giggle! I felt the same way with my machine last week! I do wish you luck, Tiffany!!

Thank you! I think it was the connection from the computer freezing up the machine. Or the Windows Operating System - Who knows. It's working now and I've said sorry for all the mean things I called it. I only have one more pocket to embroider and it can take the rest of the night off.:upsidedow

Oh - I almost forgot. I spoke to DH about Dis ties and he offered to wear his around his head as a headband. He also told me that he had a year to grow his hair out to match the headband. I failed to see the humor.

Nice image!!! That's almost as 'good' as the one about a speedo.
That is too funny. You tell him, I said I dare him to wear it that way. No wait, I can see DH following suit. However, I don't think there will EVER be enough time for my DH to grow his hair out that much - unless he grows it off the back that is!

(Mom wanted to know what I was laughing hysterically about. How do I even start to try to 'splain?)

That sounds about right! Just have fun.

As for the "dressing alike" family--you won't feel corny or out of place. On the cruise, LOTS of families dress alike, or at least coordinate. Including us

Of our three cruises, we've had Rachel twice, and LOVE her!!!

WOOOOHOOOO, Dressing alike families ROCK!!!!! We did the Halloween Party in October and 12 of us wore Incredibles T shirts, we looked awesome. In AK 8 of us wore turquoise Disny T shirts, its so much fun and pics look great! I figure eventually my kids will refuse so I take advantage of it while I can.

Welcome Cyndifan! I think I am addressing some of your questions here, but it may have been someone else who asked (long night driving 250 miles round trip to get a friend and her baby who were stranded at the airport in Boston and drop her at home).

Dinner attire: There will be one formal night and one semi formal night. On formal night many men will were tuxedos. Many others will wear a suit. Quite a few will wear button down shirts with ties and/or sports jackets, a few will wear dockers and goldf shirts, a few might even wear jeans. On semi formal night many men will wear ties (with or without jacket), many will wear golf shirts and dockers, etc. On most other nights a good percentage of men will wear golf shirts and dockers. Really cool guys like Erik and Jason will have ties every night (my DH will not have a tie, but will have a button down shirt every night and tie on semi formal and tux on formal)--some of us LOVE the chance to get all dressed up and really look good in the old style cruising tradition. I think we are discussing doing Disny tie night on a "regular" night so that A. We will stand out more and B. Us girls still get to dress "nicely" on semi foraml and formal nights.

Time kids spend in the clubs: This varies widely from kid to kid. When DS was younger he would not leave (except for meals) prefering the club even to trips to the beach. Even now he spends hours at a time, leaving mostly when there is a non club activity he really wants to take part in. DD, on the other hand, has never stayed long in the clubs (she will be 11 on the Double Dip). She is never very comfortable in a big group of kids, especailly when they have no direction (hated recess and lunch when she went to school). She tend to go for a spefic activity and then leave when it is over. She NEVER stays for free time.

I hope this helps.
