OK I will run the updates/adjustments by my friend and see what she can come up with.. Glad to see someone caught...
a) we are only doing one DIP in CC LOL
b) glad you all are better at geography than I as I didnt notice that Costa Maya was more in the vacinity of Grand Cayman LOL Im guessing she just found a map nearest to what I has asked for.
c) ill see what she is able to do about the copyright issues and see if she has had any trouble printing from sites. there is also another site called zazzle.com not sure if anyone has had any experience with them?
d) ill see if I can make some more "friends" over on that creative post thread and see what else some others could do for us!

if yall are able to show your med tags I would love to get an idea of what the lanyards and name tags looks like. Might be able to take that to my friend and see what else she comes up with that we can work around.

now couple of questions/comments...

Erik- is your dis name also part of your bday... if so happy bday? saw the #'s and though it might be.

Hadley- remind me to keep E away from your David.. as he has been wanting a bike and ummm ya no... Not that I dont trust him its just that out here in Cali.. we are crazy drivers I will fully admit that LOL

Kimberly- yeahhhh so glad you got your luggage.. but wow scary on the fires hope all is well.. At least you can say it wasnt a DULL trip ;)

Hey all,

Hadley---I am not sure about using the Tshirts as a fundraiser. I certainly wouldn't necessarily do it for a large fundraising (if people want to support me in the AIDS Walk I would certainly appreciate that...but would invite them to donate separately). I think the reason that Ken raised a little money for the shirts on cafepress was because when you use that site to create multiple items and open it to the general public to purchase...you cannot sell that at cost...because technically you're kind of creating your own online store, i think. So they make you charge enough for each item to get a small profit. So I think Ken earned a few cents profit on each shirt people bought and then donated that profit towards his Arthritis ride. So I'd have to research it a little better.

As for the logo revisions...I'm anxious to see the updates---and then see if we can get them passed through the tshirt printing.

And yes, the numbers in my name are my birthday...so yesterday was my birthday...and thanks! (It was also Chris/Scoobypop's birthday yesterday...one of the many fabulous things we have in common! :goodvibes No wonder we adore him so!)

WELL NOW HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!:cake: :bday:
I hope you had a great time. It caught my eye because it was J's bday yesterday too! (my 5yr old.. now:sad1: )

Drea--Okay we will try to keep E away from David:rotfl: My issues are the same as yours. I trust David 100%--it is those other crazy drivers that scare the bejebees out of me. NH drivers really aren't too bad, but the tourists (and we get a lot) tend to be looking more at the scenery or maps than where they are headed:eek:

Erik-makes sense on the T-shirt profits. I didn't really know how it worked, and was certainly not insinuating that you would add a whole bunch to the cost. I just had suddnely remebered Ken posting something about the sales for the repo raised x dollars for the arthritis foundation. I am hoping we can get logos fgured out and shirt ready to purchase in time to give shirts as Christmas gifts. Too bad the kids already know--it would be a cool way to tell them:)

It has been very fall like here the past few days (highs in the low 70s) which has actually felt really nice. I just hope the leaves don't change really early and we miss them on our trip.

Logos: Drea, you asked to see the repo's logo. I do not know how to just stick it into the post, but here is a link to the cafe press site for that cruise which has the logo at the top (and on all the items):
https://www.cafepress.com/may2007ebrepo
I don't really think it will help you much as it was odd to have a bunch of flags to use like that (very different situation from this cruise). I really like what you have been working on, just revised a bit for copyright stuff when we send it to cafepress.

Brandie--it's nice to hear from you. I am glad you and Fiona had a good time in Southern Cal.

CafePress--Okay, I totally admit that I am not volunteering to set it up, nor a I at all creative and designing a logo, but Erik when you do set hitngs up there PLEASE include the messenger bag (I was playing around on the site today, can you tell?). I think those would make great little carry-ons for the kids (on the plane and ship). Not being big T-shirt wearers we need another way to get in on the action;)

*wave* Hadley!

I actually have a CafePress account. I had opened a store there, but I've long since closed it. Pretty easy to upload pictures and set up, if you don't open a business account.

How fabulous, Brandie!! When it comes time to do the cafepress part of the project then I will turn to you for expertise...or maybe you'd even be willing to set up the online store (WITH the bags hadley wants, of course! :thumbsup2 ). I have used cafepress before but never to create an "online store" where others could order the items I create. I've only ever used it to make a specific number of Tshirts for myself to buy personally.

Needless to say we definitely have the talent on this board to get everything we might want made and then some!

Brandie--It is GREAT that you have experience in this. It seems with this group we have "experts" in just about everything:)

Okay Erik I missed hte last sentence of your last post and just posted almost exactly the same thing. Sorry to be copying you.

Just curious. . . anyone else on this thread Heinlein fans? I admit I am thinking of Brandie here just based on some of her posts that I have seen. As an English major I am supposed to dislike sci-fi as quasi writing. Whatever. Good writing is good writing and Heinlein combines that with some interesting philosophical questions methinks. Anyway, he's my favourtie aurthor (followed by Louisa Alcott--odd combination I know!). Anyone else like his work?

:rotfl: :rotfl: Why would you think THAT??? *eyes twinkling* (Yes, I know why.)

Yes, I like some Heinlein. My parents had a vast library of good books. Anne McCaffrey, Asimov, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Ursula Le Guin, Orson Scott Card, Shakespeare, Tolkien, etc, etc, etc. I could be listing for an hour.

My mother adores Heinlein, but I held off on reading him until I was an adult because I found his subject matter a little... adult... Bear in mind, -I- made that choice, the Heinlein was freely available for me to read, and mom loved Lazarus Long. Oh, and I read a BUNCH of trash novels, so the choice was a bit hypocritical on my part.

Gotta go... on a conference call that's supposed to tell me what my job is now.

No problem, my pleasure! I'm always on a computer of some sort, so that'll be easy and fun.

ok someone else made this one up.. its probably easier on the copyright issues but not so jazzed about it LOL its kind of blah... I was thinking instead of all the pirate stuff what about more of a Mexican feel since we are visiting mexican ports.. RIGHT?? LOL (again My geography is horrible... Im keeping it real ok my spelling sucks too. Oh and dont start on my grammar LOL)

HI Everyone,
As of tomorrow we are in a new decade ONLY 399 days until our cruise. Our best friends, their 2 kids and her mom and sister are joining us on the cruise:cool1:

I am sure this is way in advance but here are a few questions:

When do you fly/drive into Orlando>
We are flying in the nite before
If you fly in night before, where do you stay>
We are thinking about booking a room at the MCO Hyatt
How do you get to the port>
We have not booked the transfers yet but think it might be best, I dont want the hassel of having dh drop off the car, i want all of us to experience the "first" together

We are thinking of speind the night after we get off the cruise in the world for a short trip, have to fly home on Sunday, can we just take the DCL bus back there?

Thanks expert cruisers

:rotfl: I grew up on lots of literature as well. I am even named for bookish things: Hadley was Hemmingway's "first wife and one true love" and my middle name is Nicole after the main character in Fitzgerald's Tender Is the Night. My mom picked Nicole; sometimes I wonder about her choosing to name her daughter after an insane woman (the character is based heavily on Zelda):rotfl2:

Funny, we seem to have been the opposite on the Heineiln front. I stumbled onto his "adult" books at 13 and loved them in spite of being rather shocked by the content. But, I wouldn't read anything else with content that would make someone bat an eye unitl well into college (and like you anything I wanted would have been available). I wonder why you and I chose to self censor in the ways that we did? Like your mom, I love the Lazarus Long character. At Girl Scout camp the leaders are required to have "camp names" and not use their real names. I am always Friday. Everyone just assumes it is a Robert Louis Steveson thing (if literature even occurs to them) but I am always thinking of Heinlein's character;)

Okay, a few more of you throw your hats into the ring. Who do you like to read? What are the favourites which you could read again and again when you are too tired or busy for something new?

Drea--I am with you on liking the other logos better. I still like the pirate scroll background with the front from hte second one on the double logo post best so far. Thanks for continuing to work so hard on this.

HI Everyone,
As of tomorrow we are in a new decade ONLY 399 days until our cruise. Our best friends, their 2 kids and her mom and sister are joining us on the cruise:cool1:

I am sure this is way in advance but here are a few questions:

When do you fly/drive into Orlando>We will probably come and spend the week before playing at the world with Erik, Jason, Chris, Rob, Sandi, Darrell . . . You would have to double check my plans with Erik as he has it all figured out for us:rotfl:
We are flying in the nite before SMART CHOICE:thumbsup2
If you fly in night before, where do you stay>When we fly in the night before we usually stay onsite at the world and take Magical Express over there. We like getting into the Diseny feel. SOmetimes we do a character meal or something else special if we arrive early enough. but even just hanging out at the resot pool is fun. Many people stay at the Hyatt in the airport
We are thinking about booking a room at the MCO Hyatt
How do you get to the port> We have used DCL transfers, rented cars and used private towncar or van rentals. We like the private rentals best and will be using that from now on. If you have 4 or more people it is less expensive than the DCL transfers and we feel it is less hassel. You can arrange to be picked up from any hotel and dropped off at whatever time you want (i.e. arrive before the bus crowds, or late enough to avoid all the lines, your choice--there will be tons of people who are there when the terminal opens because this cruise appeals so heavily to repeat cruisers who know the drill). The towncar services will also stop at a grocery store or liquor store for a short (15 minutes) shopping trip free of charge. We stop for liquor and pick up some rum and triple sec to mix in to the sodas and juice. We have had wonderful service from Tiffany Town Car on several occasions. We tried Happy Limo once and it was terrible
We have not booked the transfers yet but think it might be best, I dont want the hassel of having dh drop off the car, i want all of us to experience the "first" togethersee above:thumbsup2

We are thinking of speind the night after we get off the cruise in the world for a short trip, have to fly home on Sunday, can we just take the DCL bus back there?I am not sure on this. You could always take Magical Express from the airport back to WDW if needed--but you would need to arrange tha ahead of time. Or do the towncar thing as described above, they will take you directly to your hotel I am sure.

Thanks expert cruisers

My answers are in red inbedded in the quote above. I am sure you'll get lots of other opinions also:)

Fiona's middle name came from Alien. :rotfl:

Hubby had first decided if he had a boy, he wanted to name him Gibson, as in William Gibson. I was flippant and said fine, if we're going for a Sci Fi theme, I'll name a girl Ripley, after the strong female character in Alien (the only one I could think of at the time, but you're right, Hadley, Friday is a great character, too!). So, if by chance, somehow, we have a boy 15 years from now, we already have his name... Acheron Gibson. Bonus points if anyone knows the 2 places where Acheron (Ash) is derived from. One's a book series, one's a rather silly movie.

Heinlein's handling of female personalities always stuck in my craw. I think Friday had to be an android to get away with the remoteness, and I wasn't too keen on how he portrayed the other women in polyamorous relationships. It was almost like it was written how he wanted women to be, versus a footing in real relationships. Men were incidental and unneeded, so no cause for drama. I'm more keen on equality between the genders, but so few writers can pull that off.

Well, kiddo and hubby are up, so I gotta go help get Fiona ready for school.

Hi All,
This is just a quick post so you don't all wonder what happened when my posting spree comes to an aburpt end. I am off to take the girl scout troop (all two of them:rotfl:) camping for the weekend. It should be really fun, it is at one of teh GS camps in the area with all the staff still around running activites, making food, etc. I only have to get the girls there and back and everything is being run for me (and other leaders). I can just relax, or partcipate as a camper myself (more my style I gotta admit--archery here I come!). Try not to post TOO much before Monday;)
