Hello everyone!

I must admit that I am a first timer on the boards. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts and replies. I just booked this cruise for our family and my husband and I are so excited! He and I have cruised before but never anything like this and we have been waiting a long time to give this to our kids. We are keeping this cruise a surprise for our two kids Brianna(8) and Trenton(5) until the day we leave as well as from our families as well just to prevent a slip up, so obviously getting on these boards allows us someone to be excited with! I am sure after being on here awhile that I will learn how everything works, so try and hang in there with me if you can!

Jenn

Uh Oh... You DO know what they say about the DCL right?? Once you cruise with DCL.. you will NEVER cruise with another company again!!

Welcome Aboard!!!!!! :cheer2:

FRESH MEAT!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes1

:dance3:

Awe...thanks, Tammie. You're absoloutely correct....memories are precious and priceless!

Buckeye Gal:

So kiddo and I are back from San Diego. My baby brother is all graduated from Marine Boot camp and is busily planning his 10 days of leave... and driving my mother batty. He seemed to have a blast at Boot camp, which makes me think the Marines will be good for him. When he was in formation, I could see his shoulders and head around the people in front of him, too, which I thought was hilarious. Did I mention he's my BABY brother??? He's even taller than me now. Punk. I was such a wuss; I kept bursting into tears because I was so proud of him and he'd grown up so much since I'd last seen him. Kinda wild to think of my little red haired baby brother pushing 6 feet tall now. He was 10 pounds, 10 ounces at birth... did I mention that?

Kiddo had a great time at the San Diego Zoo. She got her face painted and shrieked at all the animals in the petting zoo. That place is getting as expensive as Walt Disney World, but I didn't begrudge the animals the money. Fiona-san had fun.

We also went to Sea World, but that place has changed so much I barely even recognized it. We did "Dine with Shamu" which was neat; it was a buffet meal right by an aquarium. The instructors gave a talk and a demonstration, which I enjoyed. Much closer to the killer whale, and no splashing with fishy water. Oh, and dessert! :)

Mom got us an amazing hotel room at Half Moon Inn. The hotel was surrounded by boats, and was a hidden jewel in what seemed like a small town in the middle of everything. I don't know if it is still a time share, but the furnishings (while more than comfortable) seemed like they were last picked out in the late 80's (Mondrian reproduction paintings, bed coverings, etc). We got a very comfortable efficiency apartment with a lookout over the pool for less than most of the regular hotel rooms, and it was (maybe) 5 minutes away from everything. Truly remarkable. :woohoo:

So back to work, I guess. Ya'll have a great day!

Brandie

Welcome Home, Brandie! Sounds like you had a great time! I loved visiting the San Diego area when I was there last year. I would like to see more of it. We've been to Sea World a couple of times - love it, but it's not the Mouse! :thumbsup2

Thank you Buckeye Gal! I have heard about the DCL and how its completely addicting once you have had the opportunity to go on one. Our kids Brianna and Trent will actually be 10 and 6 at the time of the cruise, so we are extremely excited knowing that they will be old enough to remember it. We are going to do our absolute best to make sure that this is kept a secret. Its wonderful to be on here being able to show my excitement to others. It will make this much easier having people to talk to. Besides this board, my husband and my neighbor, who happens to be "Buckifan", no one else knows. Her family is actually going on the 15 day cruise in Aug 08. They became hooked after their cruise last Oct, so I have definately heard its hard to do anything else once you have had this experience.
Thank you all again for being so welcoming! :flower3:

Hi everyone. I just want to add my group to the list. There are going to be a total of 16 of us. One is not even born yet but he already has a reservation. This will be everybody's first Disney cruise. Actually, for most of the group it will be their first cruise period.

Me, DW, DS(3yr), DS(3month)
My parental units
DW's parental units
My brother and his DW, DD (7yr), DS (5yr)
DW's sister and her DH, DMIL, DS(still baking, due 9/14/07)

Can anyone recommend an excursion that we could all take? At time of sailing the age range of the group will be from 1yr to 80yr.

Thanks,
Michael

:cool1: Congrats and welcome, Michael!!

That's so exciting to have so many in your family going together! How special is that?! I've got you all down on the official roster. Can you please clarify that the ages you noted will be their ages at the time of the cruise or their current age?

Check out Post #577 (in my signature block). There are some links within there to some ideas of things to participate in where we've had some discussion. Additionally, I personally made a note that Hadley (Nhdisneylover) had spoken of the Kohunlich ruins in Costa Maya on Pages 45-48 of this thread. Understand that inland, it does get hot and there's some walking to do, so not knowing the mobility of the 80 young yr old, that may or may not be an option for your entire family. Since my grandfather just passed away, we'll likely have my grandmother join us, and she'll be 77 at the time of the cruise. As long as we take along water, I'm sure she will be able to handle it, but every person is different. :)

No doubt there will be many other suggestions that this great group of people will give you!

Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Such a small world! I just sent Buckifan a private message about 2 weeks ago saying I absolutely LOVE their DIS signature block ala Buckeye style!! I've run across it a few times, and just couldn't resist telling them how much I love it! Please send your neighbors another "OH" for me! :rotfl2:
(That's the "OH" chant followed by someone else yelling "IO" for those of you who are unfamiliar with this cheer as you were with buckeye candy. (Sorry Hadley! Pink dress...think pink!) :cutie:

Thanks for the updates on the kids' ages. Brianna will have three other 10 yr-old girls from the DIS family, and Trent will find five buddies his age.

Those are their current age.

My dad is a pretty active 80 yr old. Sometimes I think he is in better shape than I am. He is on a very healthy diet and works out everyday. Every morning he talks a 30 minute walk/jog around the block and the finishes it with 30 minutes on the punching bag.

Thanks for the age clarification, and whoa! Way to go dad!! :) Good for him!!

Just received the news from DCL, they have upgraded us!!
We were in Rooms 2109 and Room 2107(I think). Now we
are in 5146 and 5148 :) This is such a blessing. Disney couldn't
have known but my DD who is traveling with us has been very,
very ill and this will make the trip SO much easier for her and
us. I cried! We will have our fish extenders and doors decorated.

We are on the Luthansa Flight from Dulles that leaves
Friday at 5:50pm and arrives Frankfort at 7:35am on Saturday.
Any one on these flights??

We are on deck 5 too! I would tell you what room number it is, but it's late and I can't remember anything but deck 5 right now. :lmao:

I finally made it home from Oregon - Actually I've been back and lurking trying to catch up with stuff here and getting ready for a week at the beach (and wouldn't you know it a stupid hurricane is brewing out there with my big brother's name on it! Literally, his name is Dean!!!!!) Would some of you please send some pixie dust towards the east coast and blow this thing away! Far AWAY!!! pixiedust:

I love reading about all the new families! This ship should be getting close to full by now! :confused3

Kimberly - I'm sorry about your Grandfather!

So, I ran into Walmart today to pick something up for Grady and went by the fabric dept. I found pirate costume patterns and all the fabrics to make us matching pirate outfits! Yes a little soon, but it's one less thing on my list! I only have to make 3 outfits because Megan still insists on being Wendy (from Peter Pan) and refuses to be a pirate. I'm hoping she sees how great our costumes will be and changes her mind. I bought enough to make hers too! pirate: AAARRRRRRR!!

Well, I either have to get back to packing or go to bed, but either way I need to get off the computer.

Take care all!

Congrats, seemecook! It's always a treat to hear about the magic that happens. :)

I'm thinking that in your excitment, you may have posted to the wrong thread, because this cruise will not require any of us to head across the pond! Enjoy your Mediterrean cruise!! Sounds like it will be extra special for your family. :goodvibes

Hello All,

I am just posting to check in quickly here. I have been reading right along but have been so crazy-busy that I just haven't posted. It looks like life will settle down to what passes for normal around here by the middle of next month and suddenly I will be posting all the darn time again:)

First off, hello and welcoem to yet anotehr large baatch of new cruisers. Wow we are really taking over the ship:thumbsup2

Updates on us: Selina has flown back home as of Saturday. We all heaved a big sigh of relief there. It seems she was expecting all of the US to be big cities and does not like rural areas, the out of doors, etc. So we were just not a good match. Oh well, you can't win them all:confused3

Rio had a fantastic time at summer camp. He really loves all of the elaborate games (mafia day, casino night and the like) that you can play when you have big groups and counselors who put forth effort and wear costumes ,etc. Archery was his favourite of the activities (which works well for the kid who is planning to be Robin Hood for Halloween).

Marika got her cast off on Friday:woohoo: The wrist appeasrs to be healing well and she should be able to do pretty much anything she normally would by the time we go to WDW next month.

My mom arrived at midnight Monday night for her firstr visit to us in three years. We are having so much fun and are so excited to see her. Today she and the kids and I will leave to spend four days in NYC (a first for us all). We are really excited about that.

Dave is working way too much and totally needs the upcomming trip. We find we are all four looknig forward to seeing our friends (Erik and Jason) more than anything else! The DIS really is fabulous in that way. I can't tell you who weren't there just how great the DIS connections were for us when we sailed in May. I am gushing all over again about it all as we showed my mom all of the photos from that trip last night.

Okay, I have got to run Marika to a camp and then get packing for New York but I did want to post and let you all know I am reading and enjoying your posts and that our family has not fallen off the face of the Earth.

Have a great week everyone.

Thank you so much for the information about all of the other kids being the ages of mine. Its so great to be able to know things like this.
Deanna helped me get my account set up so I had to laugh when you said you sent her a private message. We Buckeyes stick together even when everyone else might think we are crazy fans!!! I laughed when you mentioned the Buckeye candy as I just explained it to my cousin's wife in Florida, which by the way, she is originally from Michigan! EEEWWW! Just kidding!
I could not have booked this trip without hearing the wonderful feedback from Deanna. She has helped me so much and its nice being able to walk across the street to express some excitement! Its seems so far away, but I think having all of you to talk to will help overcome that waiting period. THANK YOU!
