KImberly, first you taunt me withthe name and now photos. I'm drooling over here:rotfl2: My recipe has rice krispies in the peanut butter mixture (adds some crunch). YUMMY.

Rereading your entire post now (was blinded by the yummy photo earlier). Are you saying all people born in Ohio are nutty and poisonous?!:lmao:

Well I obviously needn't even bother posting about fish extenders since so much great info has been shared already!! :lmao: But those of you who know me well already know that just because I don't NEED to post/say something....that doesn't mean I'm not going to!!

so just to chime in....our experience with the fish extenders is that it doesn't all happen at a designated time or on a designated day.....just randomly throughout the trip folks who have brought little gifts will put them in your extender---during dinner or breakfast or during a show or slow time during the day...or even while you're sleeping (Jason and I are night owls so we say many a DISer in their pajamas roaming the halls at 2am putting goodies in extenders). That way it's just very fun to come back to your room and find something little and cute at random times....and there's a sense of anticipation every time you approach your door---"Is there anything in our extender?!?!":lmao:

A few other notes/observations:

1.) fish extender goodies are totally optional...not everyone has the time, patience, or money to do it...and that's fine! The cruise itself and all the awesome friends you meet onboard are gift enough....everthing else is just gravy! :thumbsup2
2.) Our favorite fish extender goodies were things that were edible and/or small....remember that anything you put in there has to go home with the person-----so a magnet or a baggy of candy or a cute Mickey pen are good options.....a new set of golf clubs, as lovely a gesture as they might be, are probably not good fish extender fare!! :lmao: :lmao:
3.) Fish extender goodies should be inexpensive.....it's the gesture that counts.....save your money for excursions and spa treatments!!!
4.) As Deanna pointed out....fish extender gifts should be fun...not stress you out! We also saw more than one DISer on our last trip for whom giving out the goodies became the most harrowing and stressful part of their day! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Trust me----if passing out baggies of candy to all of us fellow DISers is going to ruin an otherwise MAGICal day for you....none of us want that....go to the Rainforest Room or the Pool or get yourself a DOD instead!!

And thank goodness you do. I always get a little thrill when I see the bouncing Tigger and know there is a post from you in the thread. This is often accompanied by my saying something like "Oooh, Erik's posting!" (original, eh?) and then one or even two children barreling acorss the room towards the computer to see/hear what gem awaits us.

Ummm...nutty I'll have to plead guilty to (as if you needed to ask!)! :rotfl2:

Sorry for the teasing of silky smooth milk chocolate, creamy flavorful peanut butter, and crispy rice dreams...but you started it!

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! I have a dress I really want to get into for this trip. You are not helping:scared: Must. not. make. buck. eyes. :lmao:

Well thankfully we're about to move to page 51, so you won't see the pic much longer!

Keep your eye on the dress....keep your eye on the dress! :wizard:

Thinking pink Barbie dress, thinking pink Barbie dress. . .

I mentioned this dress on the repo thread when someone had wanted to know how formal is formal? (short answer it is whatever you want it to be). Then Erik posted it made him think of Marilyn Monroe singing "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (though it is not really that style, but Dave says it still makes him think of Marilyn too), so I have the insane belief that I've GOT to get into that dress and then round up Erik and Jason and Chris and Rob (and of course my fabulous hubby, and my little guy Rio) and any of our other traveling companions who wear tuxes and get us all on the fancy stairs and get a GREAT photo. Why? Just for fun now that the idea has been planted by Erik. I wasn't born in Ohio but I am nutty too as you can plainly see.

That's fine except I think we all know that with me, Jason, Chris and Rob in the ensemble....it will be more like Madonna's video for "Material Girl"!! :rotfl:

I think it will be a fun fun fun activity during the cruise, especially since we're all getting to know one another so well! Like I'm thinking Hoagie Pie needs a Second Prize ribbon because SOMEONE’s got to win a game challenge to them (love ya), Zweihund needs a baby-sized brown bottle of “daddy juice”, Mom+3Girls (our honeymooners) need a “Come back later…we’re kinda busy right now” magnet, Doug46 needs some OSU Buckeye cheer for his Ann Arbor roots, DizzneyDAnn needs a Hug-O-Meter (if she would just sign up for the cruise already!), and Nenner1 needs a PhotoPass card to save her thousands of dollars at Shutters!

OMG LMAO!:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

LOL....that's hilarious, DizzneyDAnn! Not only are they a team, it is what every soul born in Oh-io is! A Buckeye!!! It's actually a nut from the buckeye tree...a poisonous nut...so eat the PB chocolate guys!

buckeyes3.jpg

I made the ONE time...ONE time, isn't that a shame?!

I love to cook and I live on chocolate so I figure there MUST be something I did horrifically wrong when I made them for them to have turned out so bad....Mine turned out with the chocolate rock hard (yes, even after sitting on the counter for an hour they would crack your tooth), and the peanut butter all dry and crumbly....:sad1: The in laws all said they were great...but I know better...they lie. I used only the best ingredients...:confused3 But then again, this recipe calls for dipping chocolate and mine called for chocolate chips, so maybe that would solve the hardness issue....

I guess I'll just have to try again!:thumbsup2

Okay, posting that picture and recipe was just not fair. Don't you know I still have that 44 pounds to lose that I tried to lose the last two weeks before my last cruise? Geesh.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I don't even drink soda--not a Mormon thing--just a Deanna thang--so I can't even eliminate that. puh.

I'm working on making my Fish Extender now. I am very excited about it, but I have found so many fabrics I love and have purchased since my first find that I'm not sure that I'll stick with what I originally planned! I think it will be a fun fun fun activity during the cruise, especially since we're all getting to know one another so well! Amen! I need to start working on my fish extender now.......I think I already know what I'm going to be passing out. Hehehe......

Someone posted a link forever ago on how to make a fish extender, does anyone have a pattern I can follow? I am what they call sewing-challenged, so the easier it is the better. Martha Stewart had the cutest little pouches in her last issue that claimed to be "easy" - ha! Easy for HER maybe, I'm missing the domestic gene! :rotfl2:

Mine might be made of newspaper and duct tape. :rolleyes1

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! I have a dress I really want to get into for this trip. You are not helping:scared: Must. not. make. buck. eyes. :lmao:

:lmao:

Every time we do a potluck at work, someone brings them.....and I am always like "ok, I'll just eat ONE."
And then, seven buckeyes later......

:rolleyes1

Oh yes! Try again, Jen!! :stir: Not a shame you've only made it once...they are a pain and the kitchen floor usually looks pretty bad by the time you're finished! Yet boy are they worth it!! Now what you ended up with would be perfect for a bowl of ice cream or a milkshake!! So THIS time, add a spoonful of vegetable shortening to the chocolate chips. Hey…if you’re making something with peanut butter, powdered sugar, and chocolate, it’s not really going to change the calorie and fat count by much! :rolleyes1 Take it easy on that powdered sugar with the PB!! Gradually add it into the mixture until it’s like Play-doh. (When did this become the Food Networking DISboard??) :rotfl:

Okay, posting that picture and recipe was just not fair. Don't you know I still have that 44 pounds to lose that I tried to lose the last two weeks before my last cruise? Geesh.

Sorry, Deanna and the rest of us trying to watch that waist! I’m one of them myself right now. :wishsize3

Sooooo......the question is going to be “How many of you are running to the grocery to make these in the coming days…okay…maybe hours?” You have me thinking about now it Hadley...wasn't even a thought before today! If I could bring them on the cruise, I would be more than happy to make them for your little fish extenders!

Think pink barbie dress...think pink barbie dress......

Erik--you're right, it would be more like Material Girl.:rotfl: But wouldn't it be fun?

I have to keep thinking about that Material Girl photo op and
"pink Barbie dress, pink Barbie dress. . ." as Zweihund (first name is escaping me at the moment) points out is virtually impossible to eat only one buckeye:love: . And my daughter just walked by the computer, saw the photo and said "I love those things. We haven't made them in ages. When can we make them?" How am I supposed to fight that? :scared1: Maybe if I make a small batch when the kids have friends over so they will only be one or two left for me:rolleyes1

Oh and Jen, you've gotta try making them again. Do like Kimberly says and put a spoon full of Crisco in the chocolate chips it works great.

I am literally laughing hysterically! (sorry!) You have the right idea...make 'em for a crowd!

Enjoy!!
