I signed up for the Fish Extenders adn I had no idea what they were for They Are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute.

I don't know how to do the Multiple Quotes thing, but I'll start with this one, and then reply to a few other things on the past 3 pages. Be as creative as you want to with the Fish Extenders. If OH is lurking on this thread, maybe he can post a pic of his--it was a little treasure chest, with a working lid, and all. Of course, you all know Erik made his from scratch. Some others (like ours) were made by a fellow Diser who was just being friendly and enjoys crafty things, and offered to make some for others.

Now some of you may be skeptical about the whole "gifts for strangers? In a 'fish extender'?" thing. Like Deanna, we were also in the frame of mind of, "I'm on MY vacation. It's a nice thought, but who has the time or money to devote to gifts for 200 strangers?!" In the end, we did "borrow" a bunch of spa products from the spa I work at in Las Vegas and delivered several. It was actually one of the highlight moments of our day when we did that! We enjoyed it so much! As Erik said, the gifts can appear at any time, and it was SO much fun to walk to your stateroom and look to see if any prizes magically appeared. Also, there was a Secret Mickey option for those interested in taking part in that. Once again, ALL of it is optional, and Erik said it so eloquenlty. Just being with everyone is gift enough. But if you are skeptical and/or wondering about getting involved in a fish extender and secret prizes for others, so were we, and it turned out to be yet another surprise during out trip.

The buckeyes look amazing! I haven't heard of them before.

Deanna, I won't pressure you to book the Double Dip. Just knowing it's in the back of your mind and you will be considering it makes our night!!!

Hadley, would love to get the formal picture with all of us! For others wondering about how formal it actually gets, well it's been answered. However, even people like Erik and Jason who do NOT like dressing up at ALL enjoyed donning their tuxes for Formal Night! Now Rob and I have to start thinking about new colors for next year. . .

A final note (and sorry for making this so long): I was honestly thinking there was no way I could come off the Transatlantic and start getting excited about a trip a year and 4 months away. Being on this board has proved me wrong. Reading and getting to "know" the people on the thread is definitely working the "excited" vibes in me. Thank you all!

OMG Secret Mickey. That was fun (and I was pretty skeptical as well but decide to take part on the last day to throw my hat in). Anyway, I was the lucky person who had Chris as my secret Mickey He got me a great cook book full of Disney recipes (inclueding the soufle from Palo for which I must buy ramikins--thinking pink Barbie dress here). And (here is the totally cool part) he had it signed with TONS of signatures from all the characters. I can not tell you how many hours the kids and I have spent looking through that book and figuring out which recipes we want to make and seeing the signatures.

Everyone here has the greatest ideas for our cruise...fish extenders, excursions and now buckeyes....I have to admit it, I have never heard of these delights, but I will be making with my kids this weekend. They both love peanut butter, chocolate and cooking. I am in the "need to lose to fit into the dress" group, but I just gotta try these first.

Mine is probably taxing, but if I'm doing multiple quotes I hit the quote button and open it in another tab and then I just cut and paste it into my reply for each person I'm quoting.

Enjoy them!! I'm so surprised so many of you haven't seen or heard of these! I guess it's just taken for granted being that the buckeye tree is Ohio's state tree (like the cardinal is the state bird), that people just know about it AND the candy resembling the nut! Your kids will love helping make the balls of PB and depending on their age, it's always fun to get a little dirty with chocolate!

Personally, if I'm desiring to quote multiple people in one posting, I go to the trouble of "Quote" to each post, block and copy it into MS Word, then respond. When finished with all of them, I close out the "Quote" (reply) windows, then block and paste into one "Post Reply" window back on DISboards. It take some time, but it does save real estate on the thread and only taunts Hadley once with my screen name showing on the left.

Okay, I am really dense here. Why are you signing up to have a fish extender? Is everyone who will have one supposedto sign up somewhere? And if so why? Or are we supposed to sign up to say we will be delivering things to fish extenders? And then what if I am not organized enough to be sure? Are people only wanting to deliver to those who are also delivering goodies? I am just so confused as to why we are signing up or if I am supposed to sign up. On our last crusie, people just brought Fish extenders who wanted to and then other people who wanted to brought gifties and it all kinda just fell together in a nice non stressful vacationy kinda way (at least for most of us, there were those Erik alluded to who made delivering gifts a chore they had to get through).

Also about sign ups, thanks for offering to start a list for lanyard interest. I haven't really conferred with Erik, but I don't think you really have to do that. Once we are a bit more organized, we will post assking people to PM us if they would like to chip in some $$ for purchasing the lanyards, and then once we have a decent sized team assembled we'll ask everyone to let us know the first names of all those in their group for the name tags (we'll ask for it in some form that will work for us once we figure out what that is ). The idea is everyone on the thread (okay maybe not some really late joiners if we run out) gets a lanyard. Not just those who chip in $$ or want one (most people find they do want it after all at least as a souvineer). It is our (whoever becomes hte lanyard team) gift to everyone.

Maybe I am taking the fun away from some of you who just love to make lists? If so, never mind, make all the lists you want. Knock yourselves out.

I think the list is just to let everyone know that you would be interested in hanging out your fish extender and possibly in the gift exchange...I don't think it is a commitment. This way everyone knows how popular the idea is...

This doesn't commit you to anything, but just gives us an idea as to how many other people want to have fun with the FE adventures. You're completely on your own if you want to give or receive. So it simply gives us all a general idea of how many people may be interested. For example, through your postings, I have noted that you would be interested in playing games, lanyards, and t-shirts. So don't sweat on commitments....it's VACATION!!! Do as you please when you please! So now I know you're interested in the FE, I'll go ahead and mark it for you (so if you haven't sent the email yet, don't bother).

I just want to chime in that I think creating a fish extender list is an interesting and fun idea....because I know that some people may not actually want to have to deal with all the random little things that show up on their doorstep...and also for people distributing gifts, it was sometimes hard to leave gifts at doors with no fish extenders (both because they had nowhere to physically deposit that gift OR because it was hard to outwardly identify if they were leaving the gift at the right room).

Good Question Hadley - Yes, sign me up for a fish extender and also putting money in for the lanyards. I love all the fun stuff and it helps to get to know people better. I had a problem leaving gifts for people that did not have fish extenders. Also, I will do the school supply missions trip - although I don't know what that entails - it sounds like fun. Hope you are all doing well. MISS ALL YOU EASTBOUND REPO people!

Okay, posting that picture and recipe was just not fair. Don't you know I still have that 44 pounds to lose that I tried to lose the last two weeks before my last cruise? Geesh.

I'm sorry Deanna!!! I know how hard that can be. In fact I should be working on that myself. I have gained 25 pounds since my cruise in March!!. Don't know what has happened....I have just been eating more, I guess. I have been diagnosed with thyroid problems (but HYPERthyroid which means I should be LOSING weight, not gaining!). I went to get in one of my cruise dresses to waer to my brother's graduation a couple of weeks ago and...no way was it going on! I am pretty quick to blame my gain on the cruise ("i got in the habit of eating all the time") ha ha ...but..? In reality I don't know why I puffed up so fast. It must be thyroid related.
I am waiting for an appt. with a specialist, so...we'll see what he says...? And btw, I gained 8 pounds on my 4 night cruise (DH gained 10), but we both did lose it all upon returning (most in the first couple of days).

Amen! I need to start working on my fish extender now.......I think I already know what I'm going to be passing out. Hehehe......

I know I mentioned (now way back in the thread) that it would be a good idea to keep track of the FE's...it helps to know their location to streamline delivery, plus to know the occupants of each (whihc ones have kids, which ones are just adults, etc. ) so you can deliver age appropriate goodies.
Plus like Kimberly said it gives you an idea how much stuff to buy. And don't worry if you might not be organized enough to know for sure. I plan on bringing extra goodies, so if I happen upon FE I didn't know about, great!!!

Tell me more about Secret Mickey! Do we arrange that before we go? I assume it is like secret santa, where you draw names out of a hat....do you draw names on the boat or before? If you do it on the boat, do you buy your gifts there, or can you buy them before? This sounds neat...tell me more!

So, I know for sure: Erik and Jason, Sandi and Darell (am I spelling this correctly, there are so many options?) and Dave and I. I think Chris and Robert (Scoobypop) and Kimberly said htey would like to contirbute, but it will take me days to sort back through the posts again, so if eitehr of you (or anyone else I missed) would like to help please post again, or PM me. Jen--Secret Mickey was like secret Santa how good of you--I had no idea what it might be when Cupcake brought it up on the repo thread. Basically one persone volunteered to coordinate it. Then everyone who wanted to participate PMd her with their name and stateroom # and whether they were partcipating as a family, individual or couple (so some couples each wanted to give and get their own gift, some families wanted this just for the adults, etc.) and also if htey had any allergies or the like. Then she assigend each person a secret Mickey and let everyone know who they were supposed to deliver to. People brought with them, or purchased on board, gifts worth les than $20 and delivered them and revealed themselves at some point during the cruise. It was fun for us, but must have been tons of work for Cupcake to organize.
