My DD is in the middle of a huge growth spirt. I just had to pack away 5 of her cruise outfits cause they are to small. I bought these and paid way to much thinking she will get to wear them all summer and on the cruise...but we make plans and God laughs. Her dresses are fine but her shorts outfits not so much.

Now I am scouring sale racks trying to find some more summer stuff for her....uuuggg. The problem is she is 6 but is growing into a 8 or 9 and I don't like her to dress like a mini teenager shes 6

why couldn't she wait to grow after the cruise??????

I can't decide if I need/want to take my laptop on the cruise. Any thoughts?

I would. We do.

Ugh no kidding. I got a gift card from Saks ($25 how far was that going to go at Saks???) and bought the cutest little outfit for Sarah just for the cruise....and had been saving it, but the lil porker is growing out of the 3 month sizes already so I'm thinking it isn't going to make it....

And if that wasn't enough I must be going through a growth spurt too...:rolleyes1

Jen too bad you dont live near me, I just gave away all of Natalies dress clothes size 8.

I dont buy the kids jeans anymore for school in the summer, every time I do, the girls go through a growth spurt. :headache:

Crissi - That can be very scarey. Is it possible that with everything going on you could have had an anxiety attack? I hope everything works out for you:hug:

That's what I was thinking it might be. I get them bad too. I notice that if I drink tea in the afternoon I have a hard time at night with my heart racing and trouble falling asleep.
Chrissi,
After reading farther down, I have to agree with the anxiety attacks (although you might not rule out rocky mountain spotted fever, it is rare but it happens)

I have a long history of panic attacks. I have been on meds for about 8 years now :sad1: Mine just started out of the blue and no matter how badly I pray and wish they would go away they don't. Hang in there and I will be praying for you.
Let us all know how you are once you talk to your dtr.

Can you or anybody else PM me with what you take for this? I am getting so frustrated trying to figure out something that might help me. I have really bad anxiety. If I am feeling to bad the only thing that will help is a drink. :rotfl2: Yeah, not that good I know.. lol

Dh will have his. We are flying in 2 days before, so he will need it to catch up on emails at night. also last year we were able to check our email in St Thomas. (not through Disney).

we might use it on the plane for the kids for movies too.

I know a bunch of others use theirs to download pics.

Getting my email is important, but I was going to suck it up and just get it when I get back or look at it on one of the ship's computers. I'm beginning to think that I really don't want to do that.

Jason and I bring our laptop on the cruise. I usually buy the internet package because I'm a person who can't stand to be disconnected from email or the internet....plus then I can email my friends and family during the trip and let them know how things are going, email pics, etc.

We also have our laptop so that we can upload pictures off our camera every day to clear memory AND make sure they don't get accidentally erased.

We also like having our laptop to use as a DVD player....for airports, bus/car rides, etc.

Getting the pictures off of my camera is a big one for me.

I avoid bringing my laptop across Customs. Paranoia plays a part in that decision. ;) Doesn't matter there's nothing there the Feds need, just a little irritation at the laws Congress passed.

Instead, we tend to bring a DVD player (for kiddo) and a smartphone. Smartphone is equally open to Federal inspection, but hey, it's a cellphone with email access. Less time waiting on the Feds to find out DH has nothing they need. ;) Smartphone has a USB port and can get hooked up to a GPS. Smartphone also fits in a safe, whereas the laptop won't fit. We buy enough memory sticks that the cameras don't need to be downloaded. I trust memory chips more than DVDs. *shrug*

Question - what's the deal with customs and the inspection??

I would. We do.

Thanks!

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this. I really appreciate it. At this point, I think that my trusty laptop will be taking the cruise with me. :)

I can't decide if I need/want to take my laptop on the cruise. Any thoughts?

I'm taking mine as well. Easy to keep in contact with people back home and I can download my pictures each day as well.

AirTran Price went down again!!!

I now have a $312 credit. :surfweb:

So that is something. :rolleyes1

No Stateroom # yet though. :confused3

Chris, that's amazing!! Good for you!!! More money for those drinks in the Promenade Lounge during our DIS Meets!

B, that's an AWESOME price on those flash drives! Thanks!!

I'm getting more and more excited...as all of you, no doubt! This weekend, I made my transparency autograph booklet where I'll place the transparency page on top of a photo so it looks like it's an autographed pic (or to showcase as an embellishment on my scrapbook pages). Speaking of scrapbook pages...I still need to make my pages so you guys can sign them as you pass by our cabin on your way to Secret Deck 7!!! I have this fear that this is going to be the thing that gets dropped from my list. :headache:

Additionally, I have half of my pirate costume completed. pirate: DGM only have the skirt and vest remaining to make, then it will be complete!! I really love it!! DM and DGM's costumes are pretty awesome, too. Finally, DM and DGM fitted me for my new formal dress, too. Apparently (and thankfully), I selected a pattern that is super easy so it's anticipated that DGM can cut the fabric and sew it in less than a day. VERY exciting!! I love getting all snazzied up and dressed to the nines. :goodvibes

Just wanted to put a reminder out there that if you want to be on the list for the "Friday Night Whereabouts", let me know. I'll probably put another updated list out there in that forum Tues or Wed night. It's a bit of a tedious process since I have to create the report as an image, upload it to PhotoBucket, yadda yadda. So I just thought I would remind you all that the list will get updated again pretty soon.

Group DIS Photo...if I recall correctly, there were a few of you who were actively discussing the coordination of this activity. For purposes of Post #1, did I miss someone saying that they were going to make the formal arrangements with Shutters once we get on-board? I know there was the great suggestion of using the Message Boards to communicate the actual time and location, with hopes of getting something before 9:30 on Thursday. If any of you working on this want to write up a blurb, I would be happy to copy it into Post #1 for you. Otherwise, I'll add what I know.

Hope you all have a great week!

The feds can confiscate any information carried electronically across the border without a subpoena or even just cause (thanks to FISA). So if you carry your work laptop and the data is encrypted, TSA can still demand to review your data, despite having no reason to, or any paperwork that went before a judge. FISA is applicable even if you are a US citizen crossing back into the country.

Oh, and getting hardware back from the Secret Service takes YEARS, even if their case is found to be unjustified. Google "Steve Jackson Games" for more information. That was waaaaaay before 9/11, by the way.

And for the record, DH and I completely support the hard work the TSA performs, and tell them thank you each time we go through security. :thumbsup2 However, because we work in IT security on a daily basis, we have learned WHY to be paranoid. :rotfl:

I've also had laptops not survive international journeys, so I tend to be jaded about taking my laptop on planes. :rotfl: If I can, I'll leave it at home. They tend to last longer that way. And I SWEAR, I don't stick one hand in a socket and one hand on the power cord, no matter what DH says. :rotfl: He gives me grief for being on my third power cord for one laptop and my second for the other laptop.

I might be remembering wrong but I think RKandMJsMommy was goign to approach Shutters once we're aboard and ask about getting a group photo done....and try to solidify a time and location. Once that information is set up she will either go around and put it on all the message center boards...or call all our staterooms and let us know to post the info. (Does that sound right???)

In terms of what needs to be posted in post #1.....I would just post that we are going to do the group photo which will likely be available for purchase from Shutters aboard the ship. The exact time and date of this picture is TBA and people should check the message center boards throughout the week to find the details. You might also just post that we are suggesting (but by no means requiring) that everyone in the picture wear a Tshirt that is primarily white and has the cruise logo on the chest. These shirts can be purchased through cafepress.com using the images that have been made available in Post #1...OR can be homemade by printing the logo on iron transfer paper.

You *could* just put a paper out there and add embellies later ..... jus' saying....

Ok. I see. Do they have any rhyme or reasoning for taking 'suspected' laptops? Mine isn't for work. I do work on it, but I do graphic design, so there's nothing that is encrypted or anything.

I'm not flying (we are driving down from Georgia), so I'm not concerned about the trip. I'm on my 2nd power cord and 2nd battery for my laptop, too. Such is life, I guess. :)

No rhyme or reason as yet. Rather like the random extended searches from TSA.

Thanks for empathizing with me about the power cord. DH thinks I must be manhandling them when he turns his back or goes to work. It can't be day in, day out use...

Just stopping by to say hi!!!!

It's a beautiful day in PA - almost like it should be the end of September, cool weather, a nice breeze and sunny skies. It was just lovely.

How's everybody's Olympic obsession going? Last night during Phelps' relay, I was in my DBF's room and his DM (MagicMe) was there too and we were all holding our breaths! It was so exciting! I love the two weeks of the Olympics...I should turn them on right now...I'm watching Rich Bride Poor Bride...the Olympics are better! :)

One day closer to the cruise! :)

Well I just got off the phone with DCL. I had a few questions that were answered for me..

I was told that he could only "speculate" that our personal dining rotation will be LAAPLAP since we do have a request for an 8pm dining time since we have some children traveling with us...

Formal night will be our 2nd A
Pirate night will be our 2nd L

We do have palo booked for our 3rd A night

Which one is the show? Is it still the 1st A night?

Oh and did you all know that the eastern is still on a regular dining rotation and not a back to back like our cruise? :confused3 Does anyone have an idea of why we have a back to back same place for dinner?

the show at AP should be the 1st night since Formal night is night 3.

Hmmmm ... ok. I think I will still chance it, but will make sure I back my pictures and such up on DVDs before I get off the ship.

I use my laptop for *everything*, and I don't usually move my power cord around much, but that thing went kaput some time ago. When I ordered a new one (and battery), I went ahead and got 2 cords. Maybe that will keep me going for a while. :confused3

What Category? We're Cat 7 and still have a GTY... (Here's hoping... now I probably jinxed it)

I can't decide if I need/want to take my laptop on the cruise. Any thoughts?

We are brining ours if for no other reason than to download photos each night.

Ok....and because I just can't seem to totally check out from work.....I'll probably check my email at least once while on the cruise.
