Have you heard anything about the digital camera Canon Powershot SD1100? Or does anybody have it? I like the bigger cameras, but I think I would like the smaller one to fit in my pocket. This is the one I am looking at now.

Ohhhhh yeahhhh, I agree!! I love the dress blues! That's the one thing I miss about Mike being in the Marine Corps. He doesn't wear them anymore. Something about a man in uniform... lol
Tonya

I have the Canon Powershot SD1000 and I LOVE it !! My sister, cousins, Aunt and I believe Denise all have the SD750 and they LOVE them too !

They are really compact and take great pictures!

Crissi

Congrats Hadley!!
Scouts: I love the bling. How cute are they?
Thanks:goodvibes I should really go check out the dollar store I haven't been there in ages. I think it just made my to do list for tomorrow.
Not packing yet, but if I don't stop buying new clothes for this cruise I will be buying another suitcase and paying extra to bring it all with me. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
That is totally me as well. LOL I think I will almost have a new wardrobe for the cruise. Nope can't wear that saving it for the cruise is what I think when I look in my wardrobe these days:lmao:

So, my DS/3 is really into pirates right now, so I have decided to change our Grand Cayman plans and add the Pirate Encounter. Is anyone else doing this? I can't decide between the 9:30 or the 11:45 :confused3 The day before is a sea day AND it is DH's birthday, so I don't know if we will feel up to getting up early for the 9:30 time :drinking1 :rolleyes1
We are doing the 9:30 one. I had thought about the later one, but I figured my kids will be so excited they will be up early and ready to go.

Thanks!! How is the video quality? I think the only difference with the 1000 and 1100 is the view finder.. isn't it? They have good reviews on both of these and the 750 too. :scared1: I can't decided.. I was looking at the underwater case.. wow, those are expensive! lol

Julie:

Thank you and your family for your sacrifices and your dh service. Our prayers are with him, your family and all that are serving us. Look forward to meeting you and your family.

Purchased some of the gifts for the Fish Extenders and my DD is making our fish extender for us. Wait untill you see her work. She is so clever.

Thanks everyone for you input to this board. It helps a lot.

I took video at the Hannah Montana Concert and it came out pretty good but it was a little dark. It is much better with natural light. We bought the underwater pouch that Kimberly bought too, It as only around $35 I believe. The hard case one was more than I paid for the camera! If you are a BJ's member, I saw the SD750 in there for either $189 or $199. That is a pretty good price for that one I think.

Crissi

Well Charlie,

I ordered the Camcorder you recommended........I hope it won't disappoint me! I will have it on Friday! I also ordered 15 tapes since they were only $2.49 each if you ordered 10 or more! That was the best price I found anywhere! I will let you all know what I think when I get it!

Thanks again for your help!!!

Wow, I finally hit 500 posts! Now I am a DIS Veteran !!!!!!!! How exciting!

To Jack and all who have offered well wishes, thanks, prayers, a big thank you back.

I realize that we're really blessed in this thing. Dh is going to have the opportunity to go some place most people never get to go. He's going to get to make sure that little girls can continue to get an education they couldn't get under the previous regime (oldest dd read the Breadwinner series for school when we did World Cultures, and she's very interested in the changing opportunities for women in Afghanistan), that the Afghani people have the freedom to vote for their own government, etc. We're also pleased to help him to do this, and the year or so we do without him is really a small price to pay for the chance to help the Afghan people maintain the freedom they've gained since the Taliban was toppled.

Off the soapbox now. I'll try to remember this post when I'm tired and whiny about dh not being around to clean up vomit, etc.

Julie

Well, dh left this morning on stage one of his long trip to Afghanistan. We're effectively in non-communication mode until he reaches his final posting- and he still doesn't know where he'll end up. I'm hoping it's not along the Pakistan border, but with our luck, it will be.
Julie

I will keep him and the family in my thoughts that he is in a "safe" zone! I know how that goes! Hugs hun

Drea:
Thank you to you & yours as well!

aww thank you.... and has anyone seen my ticker... the left one LOL he comes home sooner then that  :cloud9:

We are thinking of Pirate T shirts for the adults, can we wear them to dinner with capris (women) shorts (guys) or do we have to get dressed up if not in Full pirate attire? We have last seating and I would hate to have to rush back to the room and get changed for the party! do the guys have to wear pants?
HELP

Thanks
I was going to get the boys costumes but then didnt want to lug them around so We all got pirate shirts, eye patches and that sort of stuff! pirate:

I've got a question about semi-formal & formal night attire.

I see that some of your husbands are service members, mine is as well. Do you think he would look out of place if he wore his dress blues during either of those meals?

I asked E if he wanted to wear his and he said heck no... two reasons, 1 he is very anal about getting it dirty or worse afraid the airlines would lose it LOL. 2 he hates it lol only wears it when he has to for the ball and any other function where its a must! :confused3

No- we've seen men in all sorts of uniforms on board. If dh were going, I'd make him wear his blues, even though he looks like the cracker jack boy in them. Best uniform we've seen: Marine dress, no sword. We've seen people in New York fire fighter dress uniforms, Canadian Navy, USCG, and USAF as well.
I have to say I love me some Marine Corps Dress Blues  but then again Im a lil biass being that E is in the Corps LOL:rolleyes1

Lois--thanks for the multi quoting instructions. I will try it soon (too much to botehr with quoting today).:goodvibes

So today I landed what for me is my ideal job!!!!!!!!!!!!!:QUOTE]

Yes Lois thanks I think Ive got it now LOL
ANd congrats Hadley its great when you find that perfect job!:cheer2:

Ohhhhh yeahhhh, I agree!! I love the dress blues! That's the one thing I miss about Mike being in the Marine Corps. He doesn't wear them anymore. Something about a man in uniform... lol

But he still looks nice in his Cop unifrom!

Oh your not alone! I keep buying things for me and the boys! I want to get stuff for E but not sure if he has gone up or down in size's LOL:laughing:

I am really beginning to think that Joe and I are going to be sleeping on Deck 4:rotfl2: :rotfl2: still don't have our stateroom assignment, maybe we can bunk with the DD's and their DBF's O wouldn't they just love that mommy in one room and daddy in the other:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Well then we will be sleeping next to you cuz we havent been assigned either... still hoping for that upgrade (only looking for a cat 10 for the split bath LOL I mean dont get me wrong if they want to take me to a 8 or 6 lol im more then happy to take it off their hands :lmao: )

Wow. What a great reminder of the very important work our soldiers (all of them) do! Having a DD from China where daughters are still typically valued less than sons, the bit about little girls getting an education really hit me. Granted our soldiers are helping to keep us safe over here in the States, but they are also really helping the people where they are deployed. I just can't express enough the gratitude & respect I have for service people & their families. I'm trying to impress that on Emmie also. Whenever we see a soldier out & about, we make sure to tell them thank you for their service & I remind her that they are some of the very special folks who are helping to protect us. Such a small thing, but I hope they know just how much we mean it.

Ok, will try to stop gushing now.

Oh, I think service folks in dress uniform look great!! Unfortunately, DH doesn't fit into his dress uniform anymore - his service was MANY moons (& meals) ago. :rolleyes1

I have a SD1100! I just got it for my birthday which was in June. We have a Canon DSLR, but I wanted a quick little camera for on-the-go & everyday type things. I have to say, I really love it.

I have an old (4yrs) Canon Powershot, and this SD1100 is LIGHTYEARS above it. I'm amazed at how fast it is, not DSLR burst fast, but fast enough to catch a rambunctious toddler that is always on the move. I really love how you can zoom during the video option as well, bc my Powershot did not allow you to zoom while already filming.

It's an awesome camera, for sure.

We decided to do the 11:30 for this exact reason, 9:30 is way too early!

Having a DD from China /QUOTE]

China kids meet up! We can take over the whole ship. I'm sure three of them will be enough to over take the Magic. We can then sail to the Med Sea and do the Med cruise I really wanted to do (Venice-Croatia- Greece- Turkey- Haifa, then down to Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco).

Julie

Good Morning all!

I hope everyone's day is starting well!

As far as packing goes - I brought our 2 garmet bags downstairs, but still need to go back up for suitcases. I can't decide if I want several smaller suitcases or 2 larger rolling duffle bags - I'm leaning towards the duffle bags because they will store under the bed easier.

I do have all of Megan's dinner clothing ready and some stuff set aside for the rest of us. I had to pull Megan's dresses out of her closet so she wouldn't get stains on them before the cruise. :lmao:

We are still on the hunt for a Tux shirt for Grady and black shoes for both Grady and Doug. Disney had a great sale on Disney T-shirts a couple of weeks ago, so they are all set for day wear.

We are driving down, so I don't have airline worries this time. I was caught up in the Aloha Airline going bankrupt mess and had to pay more for a Hawaiian Airlines flight. The thing that got me was that I booked and paid for a flight from Raleigh to Kona, but when Aloha went under my flight suddenly became a Raleigh to Honolulu flight. :confused3

I've been working on FE gifts the last couple of days and I'm about 50% done! :yay: I did notice that I will be delivering quite a few gifts to those of you sleeping on deck 4! I hope you get your room assignments soon! We were 12 GTY on the Wonder and it was about 4 weeks before we sailed that we got our room assignment. We were upgraded to a Cat 10!

We are headed to the pool today - I'm working on my pre-cruise tan! :rotfl:

Have a great day everyone!

Tiffany

PS: Hadley - Congrats on getting the perfect job! I've often thought if I went back to teaching I would want to be the school librarian (SP?).

TIffany--do you have Burlington Coat Factory in your area? That is usually where I find decent prices on tux shirts for Rio.

I have been scouring sale racks for new cruise clothing. Not like anyone needs a thing. I need to start getting rid of stuff cause I had to go buy more hangers.

We are dressing in full pirate dress, the whole family. I made the costumes last year for halloween and we all match. I will be leaving the pirate boots behind because of luggage limitations but hey a pirate can wear flip flops right???

We are doing the 9:30 pirate adventure. I figure we will be up anyway why not.

You will not be disappionted with this camcorder....It's lightweight and has many features...I suggest playing around with it prior to the cruise...:yay:

If I can be of any futher assistance just let me know!!!!

With the amount of $$$$$ I spend on thier products....I wish I did...

I have been using their cameras for over 20 years both professional & personal....

I'm thinking about packing. For our first cruise, I had lists. Lists and lists and lists of everything. We didn't use half of what we brought. I get more laid back each cruise, but then of course, I run around like a maniac the last weekend before we leave because I'm "missing" things. I did plan out what we're taking, I end up packing for everyone but oldest dd, so I get to decide what they wear.

Julie

I just had to pop on and say Mama Mia is so much FUN Thanks Erica and Chris for nudging us into going to see it:goodvibes
