Ack! We just got the comment from Emmie that she likes the Jonas Brothers better than HM (they're also part of the concert). When asked why, she replied "because they're sssssooooooo cute!". & she just 'loves' Kevin 'cause he's the cutest. UGH. We are NOT ready for her to start going gaga over the boys yet. NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!! We're not even to Kindergarten yet for goodness sake. :sad2:

My daughter LOVES Jonas Brothers too, only her favorite is Nick :upsidedow

OK I think I may have made my final reservation needed.

Got a Ford Escape Intermediate SUV from budget for a day with base rate of 49.59. I think that is pretty good.

I like that there is no fee for the different drop off. Perhaps if I see a bunch of you doing the same thing and we get fed up waiting for the free shuttle back to port we can all split a cab or hitchhike or something.

Saw this today in the comics and well thought of all my fellow Obsessive Compulsive Vacations Planners.

ok no time for me to chat back to my planning :rotfl2:

First I want to re-iterate what everyone has already said - many many thanks to all our service men and the courageous families for their sacrifices that allow me to have the everyday freedoms I do.

Second, I thought I would let everyone know that TheDisneyGirl02 and her family (including her "prince"- my DS) have arrived safely at WDW. They will be attending HDDR tonight and be at the rope drop at the MK tomorrow AM. I'm just glad lthey survived the long car ride!

Hello all - My FE gifts arrived yesterday......now all that is left is to make some signs for our door, order the MNSSHP tickets and figure out how to pack all this stuff in 3 or 4 bags!!!

Drea - That comic strip is WAY too funny! It sounds like a few of us here:rolleyes1

Thanks all again- but seriously, the real heroes are the Afghani girls and women who are risking their lives getting an education, and the Iraqi and Afghani adults who go and vote though they're threatened by extremists, or those who become police officers or join the military there. Our troops are fortunate, because if things go bad, someone in Washington can just decide to turn tail and run (like in Somalia) and our troops come home. The people there who are standing up for themselves/trying to make a new life are stuck there when things get tough. We're glad to do our part to help others. Just wish we could adopt from Afghanistan, but no chance. Totally illegal by Afghan law.

I always get the seaweed wrap....the first half you are rubbed dowm with a seaweed mixture...wrapped up for about 20 minutues...than shower it off...followed by a full body massage....oh it's sooooooo relaxing!!!!:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

charlie:woohoo:

I am so there. I always wanted to do a wrap, but not at the expense of a massage. I'll still take dh's spa appointment time. I hope the little ones like the clubs, because their grandparents are not up to handling them both- especially evil little Empress Madalyn (aka Chairman Mao-lyn- after former Chairman Mao- because she's THAT bossy.)

CRISSI:

Is the camcorder that you bought small enough to fit into a smaller purse?

I played with it a few days ago at Circut city and i would say it could fit in a purse the size of the one on the right

but then thats all that would fit in it. LOL

Thanks for the response Drea :) It looks like there might be quite a few of us with the same camcorder on this cruise :rolleyes1

I am making my Fish Extender pocket for "Dad" big enough to fit one of those camcorders.

Kimberly-- It was amazing to take him! The energy in the terminal is unmatched...there are veteran groups, Boy Scout troops, business groups, Girl Scout Troops...signs, banners, flags everywhere. On the day we went, the plane was over an hour later than expected, but everyone stayed & waited patiently. Including the group of 4 & 5 year olds that we invited to bring their families.

Everyone formed a mass on either side of the roped off pathway coming out of the terminal doors. The soldiers, dressed in full desert fatigues, came out of the doors to loud applause, cheering, flags waving. There was a full school band at the very front of the line playing patriotic music. The next group to greet the soldiers were the Veterans...so many of them...elderly men who had been there before...lining the pathway on both sides welcoming these men & women home. Reese shook hands with the heroes and said thank you. I made eye contact with as many as would look at me & said "Welcome Home! Thank you!". Volunteers passed out bottles of water & snacks. Others outside of the airport doors offered cell phones to use to call loved ones.

It was like nothing I've ever experienced before. And it happens every single day at DFW airport. I feel lucky to live so close so that we can participate in something as important as this...

This description brought tears to my eyes! Very cool! :thumbsup2

Dh, after a rather long and probably annoying trip, has arrived (via three other countries) in Afghanistan. Still not at his final posting, but he'll be there in a few days, I guess, even though he still doesn't know where it is.

I was thinking of attaching a photo, but he's not an internet-photo kind of guy, and I never know what I'm allowed to post publicly per military regs.

Count down of the 270 days officially starts, and then we figure 2 weeks of travel back (as Drea can well testify- maybe the plane shows up, maybe not. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't), including debriefing, gear check in, medical, and I'm thinking 284-290 days from today he'll be home. Have to adjust the ticker.

Thanks to all for prayers and pixie dust.
Julie

I'm glad he arrived safe! Hopefully the time will seem to pass quickly and he will be home!

PERFECT!!! :rotfl:

I am making my Fish Extender pocket for "Dad" big enough to fit one of those camcorders.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We finally found a Wii Fit today and have been playing it for hours! I wish I had my camcorder charged and ready to tape Grady trying the virtual Hula Hoops! Some boys just don't have hip motion! :rotfl:

It's a fun toy though! I'm going to try and play it some each day and see if it really works. You have to put your height and weight in when you first sign on and it adjusts your Mii to the right size - This was very humbling!

We also watched the Hannah Montana concert last night and had the 3D glasses, but even on a 55 inch TV the 3D effects were not very good. I ended up just watching it without the glasses most of the time. Megan was singing along and dancing for about 2/3's of the concert, but then she fell asleep on the couch. :confused3

Have a great evening. I'm going to try and get Doug off of the Wii Fit so I can have another turn.

Welcome.gif
I just wanted to welcome our newest Canadian family (who is also another lucky duck to get on the 9/24 sailing) to our group!! I've updated the kid count table, so if anyone wants to see it, remember that there's a link in Post #1 under the Interesting Stats.

Hey...now that we're getting closer and closer to our sail date

, I thought I would remind everyone that if you want to post a pic of you or your family up on our DDD Family Album so we recognize you sooner, feel free to do so on our secured website!

Hi all!!!
As promised, here is a new Question of the Week sorry for missing last week:flower3: What Disney character's personality is most like your own and why?? I suspect many (but NOT all) of these will be the same as people's favourites. But, even then it will be fun to read the WHY:upsidedow
I will post our answers tonight:rolleyes1

Mine: Sally, from Cars. She's smart-mouthed and good-hearted, but you can't put anything past her.

DH: That big Blue monster from Monsters, Inc. Not Mike, the other guy. He's like that character because how much he loves Fiona and puts up with Mike. I personally identify with Mike at this moment.

Fiona: Out of obligation, I have to put Aurora, but I personally think she is more like Sally and a mixture of the "red race car" (her description) on Cars. My Fiona is SHARP. She's already quick-witted and careful of other's feelings. Usually. :rotfl: She's also the head of the pack at day care.

My Mom: Yeah, I could put the Snow White mean witch person here, Mom, so note that!!! :rotfl: *hrrrrmmm* I'll say Doc Hudson. At the end of the Cars movie. She's sneaky cool. She's like an onion... She's got LAYERS. :duck: I've now gotten old enough to realize how cool my mom is. :rotfl:

======
So get this... My mom sent me a birthday card that has Captain Kirk asking Spock what would happen if all my candles on my birthday cake were lit at once. Inside, a little speaker has Spock droning, "Annihilation. TOTAL Annihilation."

Oh yeah, it's ON, mom! Fiona won't put that blasted card down. :headache: When I get the card back, THAT one is going up in the closet with the singing Sesame Street toy from 2 Christmases ago that Fiona loves so much.

ONE DAY, vegeance will be Miiiiiiiiine!

:rotfl:

Oh, and Mom also sends out the Dancing Hamster movie every so often, by the way! She's BRUTAL, I tell ya, BRUTAL.

Hmm......Hadley came up with a good one this week. I will answer for myself and I will give MY opinion of what Jason's answers could/should be (since he's at work.....and so am I but I'm distracting myself with the DIS right now! :lmao: )

So....Jason first....Jason's favorite characters are Roo & Peter Pan....and I could say that he "is" either of them, I guess. Roo is young and cute and tender and adorable and makes you smile....and Jason is all of those things (in my humble, and yet biased :goodvibes , opinion!! :thumbsup2 ). Peter Pan is young at heart and has reddish hair and so that could be Jason, too.....but both Roo & Peter Pan are pretty adventurous and outgoing....and Jason isn't those things. So if I had to think of what Disney character for ME is most like Jason.......it would be......hmmmm......a character who is very wise but also quiet and supportive and nurturing and never seeks the attention for themself but is also fiercely loyal and beautiful....so what characters are those? :lmao: I would say something like the Hunchback (because I think that's kind of his whole deal....this amazing incredible character who spends most of their life behind the scenes and in the shadows never being noticed) except then Jason would smack me (I mean, really, how do you tell your husband----you remind me of Quasimodo!:lmao: )! So I'll say that he is like any of the big cat characters (because I also think of him like that) who are quiet and yet graceful and fierce and supportive like: Rajah, Jasmine's pet tiger....Sarabi, Simba's mother....or maybe Bagheera, the panther who helps/protects/cares for Mowgli.

and on to myself.....

Well my favorite character, Tigger :tigger:, actually is a pretty good depiction of me.....loud, charismatic, energetic, unique, in love with himself :lmao: (what can I say? I'm a LEO to the absolute core!!!) I would also nominate some of the following characters for myself, too:
1.) Mulan because she is one of my favorite Disney women because she is so revolutionary and so feminist in a very Disney way.
2.) Tinkerbell because she's a bit of bratty little fairy.....and I can have my bratty fairy moments, too (pun intended! :lmao: )----just ask Jason! ;) :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
