Erik: Please get some good pictures of you guys in the costumes. They sound amazing. Oldest dd thought if we went we should go as the Beijing Olympic mascots, but those things are far beyond my meager sewing/ artistic powers.

Do they have a listing on the DVC member site of what nights are on sale? Last year the discounts for when we were down were less than stellar. But we'll be there after cruise as well, so maybe than. We're definitely not going Friday night. We did it once, and we were exhausted the next day, and me alone with them- I'd never make it.

Julie

I just checked out hte allearsnet website. They always have really good info and it says tickets are as follows:

Premium Dates:
September 19, 26
October 3, 10, 16, 23, 1 24, 26, 30, 31
$55.95 + tax = $59.59/adult
$49.95 + tax = $53.20/child

Advance Purchase Price available for:
September 5, 9, 12, 16, 23, 28, 30
October 2, 5, 7, 13, 19, 21, 28
$48.95 + tax = $52.13/adult
$42.95 + tax = $45.74/child

AP/DVC Discount Available
September 9, 12, 23, 30
October 2, 7, 9, 21
$45.95 + tax = $48.94/adult
$39.95 + tax = $42.55/child

If you buy yoru tickets the day of the party you cannot get a DVC discount and the tickets are the Premium Prices above regardless of the party date. As you can see for DVC folks staying in WDW AFTER the cruise...10/7 and 10/9 are both party dates with DVC discounts but you have to purchase your tickets in advance through DVC. (They give you a confirmation number to use at the MK to pick up the tickets)

As always--there is a lot to catch up on:

 Crissi--I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. I am sure your memories of him will warm your heart for years to come.

Denise--Sorry you missed out on a spot cheering. I gues that leaves you more time to plan for the cruise;)

Everyone who is feeling under the weather--Get well soon

Kimberly--It is good to see you psoting again. I hope the big work project went well:goodvibes

Oh heavens yes!!! The first and only time we have ever gone before we didn't know we were going. We were at WDW in September because Jason had a conference at the Grand Floridian and since we're annual pass holders anyway I decided to tag along and play while he was working and then we stayed through the weekend so we could play together.....well we didn't realize until we got there that we were going to be ther efor hte first MNSSHP of the season AND that it was a DVC discount night so we decided to get tickets...but hadn't planned ahead for costumes...so we just got our faces painted like animals.

THIS year, however, we're planning ahead!! I've already started working on updating my costume and making Jason's. I am going as Puck (a costume I've had for a few years but I'm updating and making some new pieces) and Jason is going as Nick Bottom. They are character's from teh play "A Midsummer Night's Dream"---Puck is the little elf/fairy creature who serves Oberon the king of the fairies and all-around creates mischief...and Nick Bottom is one of the human characters in the play...but is specifially the one that Puck casts a spell on so he has the head of a donkey (Jason will be going as donkey-headed Nick....:rotfl: )[/QUOTE]

Our family does plan to be in costume as well. Funnily enough (and this was planned LAST April--my kids are PLANNERS--hmm I wonder where they get that from:rolleyes1 ) the kids are going to be characters from Midsummer's Night Dream for Halloween this year. Rio is going to be Puck (a wood sprite version of Puck--not a Pan/goat boy) and Marika is going to be Titania. I think they ahve said I need to make Oberon for David and I can be a generic fairy or Hermia (but hten I htink Dave should be Lysander--we're still ironing it all out:rotfl2: )
SO, if I get really pressed for time we will just wear those also for MNSSHP (hmm-we would coordinate well with Erik and Jason except there would be 2 Pucks). BUT, the plan is that I will make MOST of Rio's Puck costume (but leave off leaves and not have a graland of leaves for his hair nor the green tights with vines painted on them). Then I can just add a Peter Pan style hat and a plastic dagger to that to have Peter Pan and Marika can wear her Indian costume frmo the show with a big red feather to be Tiger Lily. It should be fairly simple to modify Dave's Pirate night outfit into a Hook costuems and then I just need to make a wendy nightgown for myself. So, I THINK that is what we will be doing (but it is more work thatn just wearing our regular Halloween costumes early). One way or anotehr we WILL all be in costume:)
Hmm-I did not know about a yucky guy on TV named Puck. I guess it is a good thing i only had one boy. If hte kids wre both boys I would have a Rio and a Puck:upsidedow Puck is probably not a name one wants right now if everyone is associating it with someone noone likes.

Big Brother fans, just wanted to say the season premiere is tonight! :thumbsup2 I just found out, I had no idea it was on this soon. I think I will sign back up for Showtime to see the afterdark when I can.. :rotfl:

Tonya, I thought about you this past week when I learned that tonight's the start of the new season! My DVR is all set for Showtime, too! You're fortunate that it starts at 9:00 PDT.....I have to wait until the next day to catch it. Enjoy!!

Hadley, thanks for the welcome back. It seems everything went well Thursday night at work!

I LOVE Big Brother, looking forward to watching since it will also help pass tht time until we can book our excursions at midnight:yay:

We plan to do MNSSHP Oct 5, we went in Oct 2006 and it was GREAT, we added a day onto our trip just so we can do this again. In 2006 there was 12 of us and everyone had on Incredibles T shirts, it made for GREAT pics. I think we are bringing our Eagles jerseys for the cruise and since our MNSSHP is also on a Sunday when The Birds play we will probably all wear them:) We also did MVMCP and enjoyed MNSSHP WAY MORE!

Another person extremely excited for Big Brother!

To those of you booking tonight..........try to find the time after you book to let us all know how it turned out. Looking forward to finding out what you all got. Good luck :thumbsup2

Okay - I'll confess, I'm another Big Brother fan!!! I understand that they're going back to basics this time with all total strangers! Sometimes their twists can be lame but overall I still enjoy it!:thumbsup2

Being tomorrow final payment is due, out of curiosity, I thought I would see what the availability is for reservations. Currently Cat 4-12 can be booked. I also see that our Cat 7 for 3 adults is now $1560 more than when we booked in April 2007.

We just called DCL to try to switch our brunch ressie (never hurts to ask!!!) and the CM we spoke to was INSISTING that our cruise had only one at sea day. Went 'round with her before about 5 minutes and she still would not concede that we had TWO sea days....um so we decided even if they did have something (never found out for sure since she would not check the Oct. 2nd) that she was not to TOUCH our ressie.

Ay caramba!

On a side note I've been FE shopping today! Wooooo-hoooo!

Wow...even 12 ???
There might be hope for FL residents rates after all........:rolleyes1

Thanks Erik. Okay, am I crazy- or was there a year recently (I think it was 2006) when they had a DVC discount under $30.00? I'm probably crazy. I remember surprising the kids that year because tickets were so cheap.

Julie

Erik - you are right - there are lots of us who will need to just relax on this cruise and we all need to just have a good time. Crissi so sorry to hear about your grandfather. :grouphug: How many days left?????? I am ready now!!!!

I feel like a kid at Xmas waiting for midnight!!!!!! I am not getting my hopes up for Palo but I hope to be able to get the Pirate Encounter in GC and the two day Castaway Cay deal, its only 8:48:sad1:

Cat 5s are not available, but I looked at 6s and added $100 because when I booked that was the difference and if we were to book now it would be $1600 more:scared1:

Were you able to login to DCL?

Crissichef, my thoughts are with you. hugs hun

to all my 75dayers.... woohoo only 2.5more hours till we get bummed out about no palo brunch, maybe dinner, and hopefully we all get our excursions we want! WOOHOO I cant wait. I have my alarm on my phone set for 830pm, 845pm, and 855pm just to be ready.. I have logged into the site and so far so good... knocking on wood it stays that way! Ill be sure to post what we get or dont after LOL

Okay - so I'm sitting here house-sitting and dog-sitting at my sister's place (she has a black lab and a black lab/rottweiler mix) and I'm just a wee bit jealous - okay a lot jealous!!!!). Why???? Because I just talked to them and they were on the WONDER!!!:sail: Yep, both my sisters (with their families), my brother and his daughter and my Mom are on the 4-day DD. It's really strange 'cause we've cruised twice on the Wonder as an extended family and this is the first time I'm not with them. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money when I'm going on the Magic 7-day so I opted out. I mean this 4-day Wonder would have cost me at least 2/3 of my 7-day (especially since they didn't book it super early and then it's a summer cruise). So...I will spend the next four days thinking of everything they are doing (especially being at CC tomorrow while I'm at work!) but after that, I can go back to thinking about my 7-day coming up. I won't have all my sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, etc (14 total); but there will be four of us and all of my extended DIS family on board:) .

We may not have been on the Wonder, but we did have a wonderful dinner tonight! :)

Just as a clarification....I know that lots of our DIS friends are going to MNSSHP on Friday night, Sept. 26th, the night before we cruise....and I should have been more clear....Jason and I (and Hadley's family) are not going that night....we're going Tuesday night, the 23rd.....we thought this would be easier so we wouldnt be up so late the night before the cruise AND it was one of the nights that Jason and I were able to buy all our tickets with a DVC discount which saved us a substantial amount of money. So if anyone else is going to the earlier party....we'll see you there....If not then maybe we'll post and tell everyone how fabulous it is after we go!!! :rotfl:
My DBF and I will be attending the party that night also! I just thought that it would be easier for us to go that night. I can't wait! :)

LOL! I have my cell phone set but for 11:58 pm, 11:59 pm! LOL!!!!

I'm hoping somebody can reply before midnight, but I'll need to log on AFTER midnight to get to do the bookings? Or can I log on before and just refresh the page after midnight?

My DBF and I had a wonderful day! We drove down to Columbia, Maryland and met up with one of my dear Disney friends, her husband and her baby who is 11 weeks old. It was the first time I had seen her in 3 years and the first time she met my DBF! It was a wonderful day and her baby is beautiful! We made great time going down, but coming home was a bit longer because we hit a horrible rain storm in Maryland...at one point I thought lightning struck the car! :scared1: It was scary, but thankfully the rain stopped after a while and we made it home safe and sound. :)

Does anybody know if you reserve something through Disney can you cancel the excursions or Palo if you change your mind? Just wondering. I didn't want to book and find something better and not be able to cancel.
Tonya

Good luck to everyone booking stuff at midnight!

I think you have to log in right at midnight or right after. If you're logged in before midnight when the clock clicks over, you need to log out & then back in.

Emmie really enjoyed her surprise Friday - going to the horse show. It was actually an exhibition rather than a juried type show. There were several different 'acts' - trick riding, a drill team, a vaulting team, dressage, mounted shooting (very cool), etc. Being a horse nut myself, I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Emmie got a bit bored at times I think - some of the stuff was a bit too subtle for her, especially the dressage.

One of the mose impressive things to me was the guy who for his 1st 'act' rode one horse (all Friesians in this act, for any interested) while driving 2 others. They ones in front were in traces like they were to be hitched to a carriage (w/o the actual hitch), but the long reins for them were held by the guy riding the other horse. The next time he came out, he rode one horse & drove one other. This time though, the manuevers they performed were much more intricate - the horse in front weaving through barrels while the one he was riding went along a straight path behind or weaving the opposite pattern; the horse in front jumping an obstacle while the horse he rode went along side (not jumping, although they both jumped at the end). Its hard to really get a feel for it w/o seeing it, but trust me, it was an impressive show of horsemanship. The coolest part for Emmie was getting to pet some of the horses at the end of the show when the performers came out along the ring to talk to folks. :) I think she would have been happy to be able to spend the 2+ hours of the exhibition just petting all the different horses there. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit...........
