Here's the forecast for Gustav:
085813W_sm.gif

Ya'll in Mississippi and Louisiana, please stay safe. :scared:

Oh, and we got our docs last night (thanks, Greg and Kara!) via regular mail. We got Fiona's docs via UPS a while back.

Tricksy Disney and their sneaky sneaky ways. I've been glaring at the UPS guy every time he doesn't stop.

Good morning, everyone!

I'm excited because I only have to work two more Saturdays after today of course, until I go to vacation!!!!! :yay: :yay:

Everybody who is in the path of Gustav, please be careful and keep us posted!

It's Labor Day weekend so who knows how busy it's going to be here at work...it's nice outside so we will probably be dead...but who knows! LOL!!!!

Quick update, and when I'll have time I'll go back and read the thread. You talk too much. Also- all those in the path of Gustav, prayers and good wishes to you.

Alex is already home from the hospital. His 1 1/2 hour surgery turned out to be a bit over five hours on Thursday because the stone was adhered to his kidney wall somehow. He has a drain (like a little straw) sticking out of his back and a catheter so he's stuck in the house until next Friday when everything comes out. Right now, he's so grumpy and tired, not eating much, not drinking much, outside is not an issue.

He'll have a stent in his kidney for six weeks, and bad parent that I am, my first question wasn't "is it dangerous" but "can he go on vacation with that?" Answer, yes.

So he's napping, which means I get to do laundry, clean up (amazing how the house is messy when no one's been here), take a shower, etc. He's back in the hospital the week after the cruise to get the stent out. Ick.

Julie,
I'm glad things went ok...I'm sorry to hear that surgery took longer than expected. I'm sure he is grumpy and tired...I would feel the same way!

I hope he's feeling better soon!

Julie-
I'm glad everything went OK, but bummer that it took so much longer than expected! I bet you were a nervous wreck...

And you are so funny...."can he go on vacation with that?" That IS the most pressing question at the moment, isn't it? :rotfl: Hope he starts to feel better very soon!!

Valerie,
What Parish do you live in? I've been watching the news very carefully and I've been wondering how your family is doing. Stay safe and keep us updated!

Julie:

my brother in law went on our cruise with a stent in. (he was downright miserable...hopefully Alex wont be.).

Valerie.....and all others in Gustavs path...stay safe.

Julie, thank you for the update. Poor Alex! :grouphug: Is this something he'll have periodically undergo, or is this worst of it now that he has the stent in?

Thanks all. Stent comes out the week after the cruise. He'll probably have kidney stones forever due to his genetic/body make up. But soon he'll be big enough to have other procedures, rather than surgery.

As long as he can get in the water, I don't think he'll be miserable.

Julie

Okay - I've been lurking, I admit it. It's taken me over 5 hours ;) to catch up. But I've just got to jump in here with this:

Maureen, honey, I love wool sweaters as much as anyone, but don't you think the south Caribbean is going to be just a tad too warm for them? :rotfl:
Wait until we get on the boat to spend your money! Remember - spa treatments, Drink of the Day, ....

Woman after my own heart.

I was reading at work that Gustav has gone thur the Cayman islands as a Cat. 2 Hurricane, and is heading for La. Elliotts_Mommy please be safe!!!

We live on the very western edge of Tangipahoa Parish (very near Livingston). From everything we are seeing this morning we'll get sustained 40 mph winds which will cut our power but hopefully will not cause any serious damage. In fact it appears that we'll get to stay home and be in our own beds for the sttorm.

Hey just out of curiousity....because you guys always know the answers to questions. Does anyone have any knowledge about whole house natural gas generators? We have a portable now but I really want something that when the power goes down it will automatically kick in within so many minutes of power failure. That's really the hardest part of these storms, the fact that you never know how long it will take for the power to come back. After Katrina we were down for 10 days which was REALLY good....but we stilllost everything in our fridge and freezer.

there are 2 ressies open for dinner at 8:24 am EST, they are for 3-4 guests, on Day 1 Port Canaveral at 7PM and Day 5 Cozumel 7PM, neither works for our group, BELIEVE ME, we tried to make it work...

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
aww man they dont work for us either. Well update they only have the Cozumel one left

Wow! You're really lucky the people called. What nice people. The a** that bought our old house kept TWO UPS packages that arrived...one was a $400 wall mounting bracket for a flat screen TV and the other was a big tin of poporn from one of Jeff's clients. Refused to call me after I had left notes in the mailbox & on the front door with my info & asking him to PLEASE call. So I knocked on the door a few days later, he answered and said "I have too many boxes to go through from moving. I can't look for your box." JERK.

So....glad your new home owners aren't like that!! Our guy would have gone on the cruise himself :)
aww man what a jerk is right along wtih other choice words :lmao: Ill keep my fingers crossed that pixie dust sends them to your new house:wizard:

Sometimes us adults take being sick worse then kids, they seem to sometimes have a better disposition then us. Hopefully mickey and his crew will help Alex feel better too

Everyone in the way of the hurrican or is that vise versa? Keeping you all in my thoughs. Big hugs to you all and stay safe.:grouphug:

Have a great Labor day weekend all my fellow American Cruisers!

Julie,

Have you filled out the medical form for Alex? I was thinking perhaps if Disney is aware of his situation perhaps they would do something special to help make his trip a little more magical.

Just a thought. . .

Tiffany

BUT ..... I did finish the adult FE gifts tonight!! I'm just hoping you guys don't think they are lame. If you do, just toss them - but don't tell me. :)

Can't wait to see all the FE gifts!!! I have the same anxiety about my FE gifts too! But I think it's always fun just to find something in your FE so I'm excited for everything!!!!

Just looking for that silver lining! :thumbsup2
Tiffany

The only way to go!!!:thumbsup2

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
OH Mr. UPS man, bring me my dream,
make it a white envelope that Ive never seen
please come to my front door
Mr Ups man bring me my dream

I'm with you too! :dance3:

No UPS man at my house today.................BUT.............I did get a phone message from the person who bought our old house from us 9 MONTHS AGO. "yes, this is ****, we bought a house from you last year. We got a Disney package delivered to our house today and my son opened it without reading who it was to because it said Disney.........and well..........it is your Cruise paperwork............." :scared1: So, it looks like our docs got sent to our old address even though I updated our info months ago. So, I can "kind of" do the Cruise Docs Dance. I will pick them up tomorrow :rotfl:

I'm worried about this too!!! I booked in MAY07 under one address and then had to move in OCT07. I'm thinking that's where my first package ended up going (the one with the little booklet about excursions, etc). I updated my address since to avoid this but now I'm worried.:scared:

How RUDE :snooty:

Ok, is anyone concerned that Gustav just plowed through the Cayman Islands? I know its too early to get an indication of whether there was major damage, but still...............

Hope all in the path of Gustav stays safe!!

Costa Maya anyone?????:rolleyes1

Not that I wish Gustuv on anyone, but hoping his path doesn't change and that you stay save.

Just wanted to share some pictures my grandson made. I see a future job with Disney. He drew them free hand by just looking at a picture he already had. He did not trace them. I am sooooo Proud! Lois

They are great!!!!!!:thumbsup2 Definitely a talented guy!

Did anybody else read this thread about DCL not offering the land tour of Grand Cayman anymore? We have it booked so I was wondering if they won''t be offering it to us now.

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1936523

When I looked at that post, they mentioned that they didn't want to spend the extra money to go to the butterfly farm. Our excursion includes the butterfly farm so I think we're okay. It looks like they were looking for a shorter tour that may have been offered.

I'm sure we would be contacted by Disney since we already reserved.

I would hope that Disney would contact us...they did contact everybody quickly after the port change.

I'm excited for the butterfly farm! We just opened the butterfly house here and it's very neat to see butterflies just flying around in this gazebo-like structure. :)
