Drea

Having a group of friends over tonight to celebrate my knee surgery:dance3:
Of course I will be testing the limits:scared1:

Glad that you are also tuning up....How about E?:teacher:

The knee is coming along...I still walk with crutches but don't totally depend on them...At that point is when I get a shooting pain in my knee to remind me that I'm not ready yet?

Go to the Dr. on MOnday fro stich removal and consultation!!!!!!!!!:worship:

Glad it's healing according to schedule!

I just read a post on the main board about the group pictures being set up with shutters and they confirmed that they do charge $85. Do you think we should still go that route or try to grab a CM to take the picture for us with one of our own cameras?

What do you all think?

Crissi

They charge $85 just to take the picture?
Umm then how much will it cost per copy of it?

OMG, in one week from now I'll be at the airport...probably getting on the plane! I'm excited yet so scared for the flight! :scared1:

I hear ya! When you wrote that, I will have JUST landed at MCO a week from now. As I write this now, I should be checked in and headed to DTD!! :woohoo:

I just ate a late lunch with a Green Apple Smirnoff. That's unusual for me at home! Of course I plan to have another at kickoff this evening!!

I LOVE Hotel del Coronado! I'm very jealous!!! Hope you're having a blast!

HEHE on the flags!

:guilty: I try so hard to cook tasty food:guilty:

We saw Alton Brown make some yummy looking peach upside down cakes a few nights ago, so Reese and I found the ingredients at the store the other day and Jeff said they sounded awesome.

So we made them today. :sad2: Gross.

First, they were so FLAT. Alton's were nice & high, like a cake should be. They were individual sized, and I baked them in the exact size rameken he used on the show. I followed the recipe to a T...even measuring out the flour by weight like he says instead of by measuring spoon.

Then, I should have just KNOWN to leave it out, but I put it in because the recipe called for it...crystalized ginger. Me no likey. Jeff no likey. So of course, it made the whole thing taste like...ginger. :headache: Yuck.

We both ate about two bites and tossed the whole thing. :sad2:

I did learn ONE good tip for peeling peaches (place whole peach in boiling water for 30 seconds then ice water for 30 seconds and rub with paper towel...skin comes right off!). But other than learning how to peel a peach...what a waste.

Disney cruise, PLEASE make some good food for my hubby!:rolleyes1

I'm sure you won't have to worry about good food for your hubby...I'm sure it will be everywhere!

That's interesting about peeling a peach. I'll have to pass that fact onto my mom because she LOVES peaches!

I'm getting ready to pack my fish extender stuff up tomorrow morning and was just doing a double check. Does anyone else have a total for everyone participating in the FE fun? I have 176 down including the late arrivals, but I want to make sure my number is right. I should maybe just pack a few extra in case it is off, but if anyone else counted I would love to know what your count was. My table is covered in FE fun right now!!!

I was talking to Dh about the $85 fee and we have no problem with it, we have a LARGE group and I am sure it will take some time getting us all together! With the time it would take, that photograper is not available to the others on the ship, again just our opinion.

If half of us show up and contribute $0.50 per person, that is about $100.00, again, whatever is decided is fine with me...if we forgo the picture, thats less I have to stress about :rotfl: figuring out a date and time will be hard:)

Ok..working on packing my box to go to Disney....got a question for you.

'record box' as in vinyal records played on a turn table with a needle (yep showing my age but DH and I both thought this.

or

'record box' as in what one would pack office records in for storage? (about the size of a case of paper)

or heck...does someone just have the dang dimensions?

.
Chris, Drea, and Adrienne, this is for you:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay, that was a good one. :thumbsup2

We dropped DH's car off on campus at 8:30 this morning and the parking was already 3/4 full... for a 5pm game! It's going to be craaaaaazy!

We're off - if you see an overview shot of the Coliseum, look just off the five yard line on the side of the stadium opposite the Olympic torch - 15 rows up, left side, and wave. That's us! ;)

FIGHT ON TROJANS!!! BEAT THE BUCKEYES!!!!

Here is my tip to newbies with kids.

For lunch there are two buffet options outside of the sit down Lumieres lunch and the counter service.

Both are buffets but the one a Parrot Cay they will bring you your drinks while Topsiders it is self service.

Often the lunch buffets are themed. Chinese, Seafood etc.
My kids are simple picky eaters and we found that if we ate at Topsiders (close to Plutos) it was very easy to run to Plutos to get a Hot Dog, Chicken Tenders, Fries etc. and bring them into the buffet for the kids to eat.

I did find it odd that on some of the buffets that they did not have a kids station or a rather small one.
Some buffet days they did a great job at this some not so much.

Also my tween nieces preferred the food off the kids menus at dinner time vs. the escargot and seared ahi tuna.

Also room service will make Grilled Cheese sandwiches. They are off the menu but just ask Chef Mickey.

Milk is also free on the room service menu for those of you who need it for little ones at night. I also find at breakfast or lunch you can just take some cartons and place them in your cooling box in your room for later.

Drinkers!!!

OK my drink strategy outside of looking really thirsty next to Charlie.

Beer Mug refillable - 220z for price of 16oz
Beer Cans - Buy 5 get 1 free from room service or other locations
22oz Beer mug can be filled with pre made mix drinks
Pitchers of certain drinks available at Rockin D Bar
Beware of the souvenir glass
Free martinins at Art Auction
Free Drinks at Captains Reception
Ask for Drink specials outside of Drink of Day at bars
Wine package in some cases not Cost effective. (Especially if you only drink white)
Always buy the bottle. FatCat will finish it.
You can have the bottle corked and brought to your table the next day by your server or you can take it back to your room with you.
Drink of the Day always a good deal
I find going to the BAR you seem to get a better pour
Try the Tropical Depression if you want to get %@#%@ up on a single drink
Tastings are always a good deal. Sit next to Dis'ers who cannot finish theirs
Liquor brought on board pre-cruise or from Ports always fun.
When you buy liquor on board you get it the last day. Woo-HOO gotta finish that opened bottle
Ask your room steward for the Large container of ICE to cool down your carry ons.
Place a zip loc bag of ice in cooling box to make the stuff colder

Welcome, Lexiconjoe! Wow...2 weeks notice!!! We KNOW you *are* busy!! I see you already signed up for our website, so you've likely read through Post #1 as well, which may help you a little.

Chris, I added a couple of your non-alcoholic tips to Post #1! Thanks!!

I'm interested. I tried to email you privately but it won't let me. It won't let me include my email address here either. Sorry.

See you on the cruise!
Donna

Donna, once you have 10 posts, then you can send private messages. You can go to another forum, like community games, and you can rack those posts up in 2 minutes. An alternative is to use our website to communicate. ;)

I agree...they are very nice!

This is what Ron said...small amount per person easily we'd have it covered . He also had an opinion on the time, and I think it is really a good option if it is feasible for the Shutters staff. He says we really should think about doing it at the Dis Meet on embarkation day, as that is one time we know we will all be there together. As he put it, after that everyone else gets so wrapped up in their vacation, plus with all the diverse plans, appointments, reservations, special events later on in the cruise that we will be really hard pressed to find something else that works for everyone. PLUS those of you who plan to wear the logo shirts or coordinating clothes will likely already be wearing them. Maybe after the gathering in PL we can just all stroll (in an orderly mob, lol) up on deck for the photo. Set the time for 3:30ish??
Opinions?

Well,I shouldn't be talking.... I finally have ink for my printer and have accomplished absolutely nothing today. I'd better get to work. ;)
