I just looked at my DD's autographed pillow sham. THese are the sigs:

Perla
Teak
Max

Ok..Perla is the mouse from Cinderella right? Max is goofy's son? and who the heck is TEAK? Other than that....I'm pretty much done with DS's autograph book...turned out REALLY cute.

Anyone having problems with Gas Prices? We are having stations charging over $5.50 a gallon here in the Raleigh area. There are some stations with lines so bad that the police were called for crowd control. Doug was saying this all stems from IKE shutting down a large refinery for a couple of days. The Governor of NC has even stepped in to control the "Price Gouging(SP)" Is this happening anywhere else?

Tiffany

DH works for the Strategic Petrolium Reserve (or the their primary contractor anyway) and said that this very well could be the case. Several refineries have had to close over the last few weeks....Gustav shut down some here in LA a couple of weeks ago and now with Ike shutting things down in Houston. Hopefully things will come back up soon and we can see prices going down again.

TEAK is a gorilla I believe...

Who isn't packed? Besides us? I'm not feeling the panic setting in yet, so have zero motivation.
Not packed not even close to being ready to start packing....
Am I the only one not planning on doing laundry?
We will be gone two weeks, but I think I will have enough packed for 2 weeks I'm a terrible over packer.
I give up! I need a stiff DRINK!!!!!!
Make that a double
Coming late to the online party...but will be seeing you all in a couple weeks.
Welcome aboard:yay:
I'll be around. I have some things to do for the trip this weekend, but my laptop can tag along. :) I'm working on shirts tomorrow.
I'm working on shirts tomorrow as well. I need to sew like the wind this weekend.

Gas went up about $0.20 here today. It is up to $3.59 for regular up the road.
Only 12 more nights of work for me. (Or is it 13?) Sounds like a lot to all of you probably...but I'm thrilled!!!

I just have to work on Monday then I'm off for 3 weeks I can't wait!!!

It's actually Turk and she's (I know...I can't believe Turk's a girls name) a gorilla from Tarzan. Rosie O'Donnell voiced Turk in the movie. Sadly I have more Disney facts floating around my head. :thumbsup2

I put in the request to my son's middle school principal (he is in 6th - this is a new school for him) and she got back to me last night and will excuse 2 of the 5.5 days he is missing. She also said "it shouldn't be a problem as long as he continues with good attendance otherwise." I'm not sure what that means but it sounds positive so....I'll take it! whew! Our school is closed 1.5 days while we're gone for the Jewish holiday and she is excusing 2 additional.

I got excused absences for my kids this week as well. Reid's principal was great (3rd grade). She said she thinks it is important for kids to see the world outside of Southeast Arkansas. :thumbsup2 We had talked to her before enrolling, so she had been forewarned and was all for it.

The Junior High principal was not so enthusiastic. He said he had just turned down a similar request from another student. After explaining the educational value of our trip (remember to stop by 6044 and sign our map) and working some of my (:tink:Disney) magic, he excused all Cassidy's absences and offered me a job. Not an actual job, but he said "Have you ever considered teaching? We need good teachers!" :goodvibes

I found some summer clothes on sale this week. I was hoping to head to Louisiana to shop tomorrow, but looks like the outer reaches of Ike are going to be visiting this area, so I decided it was better to just stay home.

See you guys soon!!

THANK YOU...and when you said Turk I knew exactly who it was...was just confused by Teak.

I started a couple sewing projects tonight. I will have those done in a couple of hours tomorrow. The tye dye is going to take longer, though, I think.

Question for you guys - when we change time zones, do we go on the new time all around the ship or do we stick with the old times (for bfast, lunch, dinner, excursions ....)??? DS had the question because he needs to know if he needs to change his watch each time.

SHip's time usually changes. There will be a note about time changes on the bed in the evening before as well as in the navigator and the waiters usually remind you also. DCL does not want you missing the ship becasue you are unsure of ship's time:thumbsup2

Thanks, Hadley! We were just wondering because we had NO idea. :) We're such noobs. :)

My Secret Mickey gifts are all done! WHEW! One thing off my list. I still have to wrap them though!

Now off to try to pack some of the toiletries and stuff! If I can find them in my PILE on the floor of my bedroom! IT just keeps GROWING!

I only have 13 more days to pack:scared1:

Good night everyone!

Crissi

.
Okay...as promised, Post #1 has the updated matrix now.

Chris, Drea, and Adrienne, this is for you:

Mmmmm Crawfish Gumbo in the Sports Bar.
Worth the trip!!!

I will be on the AirTran 2:35.

There are two direct flights in the afternoon time area. Try to get waitlisted since it is just the two of you.

Thanks for the wonderful warm welcome everyone!

Great idea about standby. Having the last flight out of MKE and then needing to make a connection make me a wee bit nervous. Much rather have the direct flight. Now, need to convince DH - he's had some bad experiences flying standby (or should we say NOT flying). Also the later flight departure will allow him to work the whole day we leave and not burn any pto. I think I will call Airtran the morning of and check the loads for the 2non-stops. If it looks good, maybe I'll have a chance :)

So far today I have booked my hotel, car, and inspired by the boards, concocted a pirate costume from some "finds" at Goodwill. Amazing how much energy you can have after working a 10 hour day...if it's related to vacation planning. I'm off to print and download the goldmine of information.

Wow!! You have done more in a few days then some of us have done in this past year :rotfl2:

Thank You!! WoW, I totally forgot time changes..

Hey you guys....remember when we were still going to Costa Maya that I had been chatting with the 10/25 Costa Maya thread? Here's something I thought I should pass along.

BTW, ERIK, there's a special note here for you!

.....Are you aware that shutters has a charge for taking you DIS group photo? Or do you have donors for that? .....
Dana

......I am so glad you brought this up. I mentioned it to our group months ago that I thought I read there was a "sitting fee" for the group photo. There were mixed responses from those who have had a group photo taken. So, my suspicion was maybe it was funded without their knowledge, therefore, I posted an inquiry on the main forum. I got mixed responses there, too. :confused3 What do you know that you can share with us?

Buckeye Gal~~

Please pass on my thanks to Erik. The lanyards turned out great.

In our group Newfiemom is in charge of organizing the group photo, she called DCL directly and was told the charge to have shutters take the photo was $85.00. I read in another thread they had a shutters photog take the shot of them as the photog was just standing around. And in one post a travel agent picked up the fee. If you pre arrange the sitting there will be a fee.

Glad to pass on the information.

Dana

No really the pillow says Teak. We couldn't figure it out either. Maybe something from JoJo's circus? JoJo signed the pillow too. The a is an upside down v. The t and e are easy to read, so is the k.

I must admit I was very upset last night going to bed. Looking at the tropics remembering my wx guys telling me... oh no four storms would be impossible. Now, thinking we'd miss CC or deal with rain in WDW or both... I was really bummed and depressed. But, checking the noaa this morning I do fee a little better.

Here's what they have to say:

1. AN AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER...INCLUDING SOME OF THE REMNANTS OF
TROPICAL STORM JOSEPHINE...IS LOCATED A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES
NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEASTERN BAHAMAS. ASSOCIATED SHOWER ACTIVITY
REMAINS DISORGANIZED AND DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM...IF ANY...IS
EXPECTED TO BE SLOW TO OCCUR AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 10
MPH.

2. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED
ABOUT 1300 MILES EAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS REMAIN DISORGANIZED.
WHILE UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE CURRENTLY UNFAVORABLE FOR
DEVELOPMENT...THEY COULD BECOME MORE FAVORABLE OVER THE NEXT DAY OR
TWO AS THE SYSTEM MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 10 MPH.

From the sounds of it they're not getting too excited about either of these. Thank God! We were on the hurricane Jeane cruise. I really don't want to repeat that. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Now that Ike is "over" these two systems will get a lot of attention, maybe even fights from the hurricane hunters. I'm trying to get one of my guys on a flight.

The bright side... We're doing the single digit dance!

I wore jean capris many times to dinner on the last cruise and had no problem at all, we saw others wearing the same. :thumbsup2

I hate dressing up:headache:

Remember its your vacation....Be comfortable and wear whatever you choose...Some people enjoy getting all dressed up...:lovestruc
