Hi Everyone!

I don't mean to interrupt your conversations, but I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Dorothy, and I'm a first-timer who is traveling with Anthony, my husband, and Juliana and Taylor, our 12-year-old twin daughters. I'm also traveling with Charlie (aka Videoman), which is how I found you all here. In fact, Charlie and Barbara have been fabulous to us; they have planned everything for us. I think the only thing we did on our own was get our passports! We wouldn't have a clue if it weren't for them. Having said that, I see that many of you have some interesting info and great advice to offer, too. We are all really excited, but I am getting nervous about the prep and packing as I am not the most organized person . . .

Anyway, all of you sound so fun and friendly. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you. I will be the one with the long, curly, (I think it will be more like frizzy there) red hair with a drink in her hand following Charlie and Barbara around the ship (or, Charlie, should I say to the bar?).

Looking forward to seeing you,
Dorothy

Welcome Dorothy:cheer2:

Glad to see you finally joined us:banana:

Hidden MICKEYS!!!!!!! Yes!! I will love coming by to find them. Can't wait.

You should put a note pad up beside it so that we can put our names and how many we found ......

Ohh...there's a LOT.
They aren't really hidden in the sense that they are cleverly worked into the design...lol, they're just there!

We went to Chik fil A for lunch today with friends, & I kept making Reese put antibac gel on his hands when he came back to the table for a bite of food from the play place. My friend said "Obsessed, much?" and I told her I didn't want him catching any playplace cooties before the cruise!!!
nope. I am dealing with issues like that right now. Savannah says "So I have to wash my hands *every time* before I eat something?" (UH. YEAH!)

About the camcorder, not sure if you can take pictures while you are shooting but I would think not. I have a digital camera I am bringing with LOTS of SD cards!

You can with mine, (also a JVC Mini DV) but it does cause a "pause" in the video where you clicked for the still shot, so I try not to do it.

Oh, I almost forgot, I emailed DU about the picture and they thought it was best to talk to them when we get on the boat. She said one of the other agents that just cruised talked to them and they did waive the $85 for them so we will see.
Thanks for asking Crissi!

Bottle warmers are not permitted on board due to safety concerns. However, should you need hot water, Crew members can bring it from the kitchen, or you can request hot water to be delivered to your stateroom at any time from Room Service.

ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING, DCL?
Um, NO I will not make my baby wait 45 minutes for room service to deliver HOT (not warm) water for her bottle.
MY travel bottle warmer (a steamer) is coming. And I am using it.
Arrest me and put me in DCL jail if you have to.;)

Welcome, Dorothy! Never too late to join the party!

UPDATE:

We upgraded!!! It was actually only $720 more, I know, not much difference, either way a good chunk of change!
We are currently in a Cat 7 GTY. Anyone know when I might find out my room number? Once I do I'll have to like Erik know! Hopefully I'll run into him at the port though since we've scheduled the 10 am shuttle from the Radisson.

Very cool! You may not find out your room # until you check in. DU will email you if they get it....or you can keep checking DCL online to see what your reservation says. I do know you'll be aft.

So here's something cool...my grandma (who has more time and money than she knows what do with) well her and her boyfriend (lol, they're in their upper 80's...you're never too old I guess) just decided to up & go on the Carnival western..they are getting back the day before we leave. Thought that was amusing. They just wake up one morning and decide to go on a cruise next week, lol. Talk about the life.

Everyone getting ready to leave, have safe travels. We still have 9 days and I have enough to do to fill up every second of those!:rotfl: But the first thing on my list: to sleep!:thumbsup2

Okay....I admit it. I just broke down in tears. I am now SOOOOO stressed. I have all this stuff I want/need to get done for work before I'm gone 2 weeks, I need the daylight hours to be home pulling together the last things, and now I need to dedicate time to empty a full freezer and take the hundreds of pounds and dollars worth of food upstairs and out........UGH. Oh yea! Don't forget the most important thing...I need to get a pedi tonight! Seriously. Crying. I have so little feet to stand on complaining, I know. It could be so much worse, I know.

I just told my manager's administrative assistant about the new ETA and all the stresses I feel right now. (That's when I broke down in tears...although they've barely stopped.) You know what she said so innocently? "Well can't you just work from home to get some stuff done that you need daylight hours?" :rotfl2: OMG we laughed so hard. It's just so natural to say "just work from home", she didn't think a thing of it!

I'm paying it forward.......PALO RESSIES AVAILABLE FOR 1-2 PERSONS, GRAND CAYMAN DAY, 9:00 P.M.
Go get 'em! :rotfl:

Don't worry, you'll be at WDW soon!

So how much do you think it costs to get them to open a BOX of wine?

:lmao: :lmao:

Just Breathe.............

Kimberly-

Hope you're doing better. I know the press of so much to do, no chance to do it. This is seeming to be a disastrous vacation prep period for so many of us. But once we're there, we'll be laughing about it. Or maybe some of us (like me) will still be obsessing about it. You have the extra added stress of being in charge of your family- which is never easy. You want everything to be perfect and you'll notice every screw up, but they won't, I'm sure.

Hoping things get better.

Julie

Thanks for the heads up, Nemontinksmom, but someone snagged them before I could. We'll all just have to find creative ways to convince TVEPFOX to let us in to her private room.

MARY1025- We are doing the Rays, Reef, and Rum tour on our own throught Native Way. BIL did this trip twice and highly recommended it.

Excellent - we will see you there! Glad to know there will be a few DIS friends with us.

According to that it would cost me over $800 to Downgrade.

I am in the same boat - I didn't realize what a good deal I got for booking onboard last year until I looked at how much to upgrade - lets just say it would cost me $500 to go from my cat 9 to a 12! :scared1:

197 Drink of the Day
or
22 bottles of Patron
or
264 jars of mayo
or
2 Bottles of water on board
:lmao:

Welcome, Dorothy - you have joined the best group I have ever cruised with :grouphug:

So the cruise daydreaming has set in - one week from today we will be making the final preparations to leave at the crack of dawn on Friday :cheer2: I think it should be illegal to make you work one week before vacation :lmao:

Thank you, everyone, for your warm welcomes. Forgive me, but I am somewhat technologically challenged, and I am still trying to figure this whole thing out. I should be embarrassed to say this, but Charlie had to send me the link before I could even find this specific group. And then it took me a couple of tries before I even posted successfully.:rolleyes1

So, it sounds like some of you are getting a much earlier start on your trip than I am. To you, I'd like to say, Have a safe and enjoyable trip, and I look forward to seeing you at 3 on Sat!

Dorothy:flower3:

Welcome, Dorothy. :flower3: I feel your pain on the posting. I preview and correct several times before I get it right. And even that doesn't work sometimes.

My daughter will be 12 in November, but she's already in 7th grade. Will your girls be in the kids' club? DD is so shy, I don't know if I'll be able to get her in there. DS on the other hand is 7, and there's not a shy bone in his body. He'll probably take off and never look back. He's also quite the ladies man, so beware!!

So remember the baby shower invites I was supposed to have done a few weeks ago... Yeah, um, the shower is on Sunday, and I haven't done ANYTHING for it. Gah!!!

(I hope I am doing this right . . . attempting to reply to Nemontinksmom.)

I'm sure my girls will be in the club. My girls can be a bit shy, depending on the situation (like Mom), but I am sure they would love to meet DD (not to mention ladies man DS) and maybe they will all go in together. It is easier for my girls being twins to do new things together. My girls would probably be shy to enter an already established group, but I think they would be very welcoming and friendly toward DD because they're all in the same boat.:rotfl:

Welcome!!! I am Shell. I will be traveling with my dh, kids (ds - 17, ds - 12, dd - 3), my mom, niece, nephew-in-law, and great niece. It will be great to have you! This is an awesome group!

:sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2:

I just called AEP. There's a new ETA! Yea...don't jump for joy. It's now been changed from Sunday evening to noon on Monday.

Oh no. I'm so sorry, Kimberly!!! I was really hoping that you would be back on track tonight or tomorrow.

Yes ...... dreaming ...... We're leaving at the crack of dawn on Friday, too. Hopefully, we will be in PC around 3 or so. :) Then, we'll be at the terminal around 10 on Saturday. It's getting SO close. :)

Hi Shell. I'm a bit slow, but I am noticing that people are using initials for their kids' names . . . I'm thinking I should have done the same. I see you have a 12 year old, too. And, like me, you're traveling w/a large group. This does sound like an awesome group. Charlie has been telling me so. I'm glad I finally got on here.:yay:

Okay... now panic! *** is this!!! Rats this popped up at 1:15!

1. A TROPICAL WAVE INTERACTING WITH AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH CONTINUES TO PRODUCE A LARGE AREA OF SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE LESSER ANTILLES. SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT APPEAR LIKELY DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES SLOWLY WEST-NORTHWESTWARD...BUT LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS COULD CONTINUE OVER PORTIONS OF THE WINDWARD AND LEEWARD ISLANDS TODAY AND TOMORROW.

Let's not panic and start ordering hurricanes from the overlook bar. It's just a group of thunderstorms with a silly yellow circle and a 1 next to it. The weather channel probably asked for it... their tropical update has been slow all week. They have nothing to talk about... IMHO let's keep it that way.
