Hi !! :yay:

Hmm... I thought it did tell you.. In the first set of brochures you get from them.. :confused3 Not the actually forms and tags package but the one before that..

The "What to Pack" tab when you look at your reservation online also states there are formal nights and what to wear to dinner:

What to Pack for Your Cruise

Pack for both comfort and style on your Disney Cruise Line® vacation. The atmosphere is casual and informal, though you might want to take part in some "dress-up" occasions at night. Dinner attire is "cruise casual," which means no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Dinner attire at Palo is dressier, though you may also choose to dress up for Lumiere's and Triton's. Finally, there are optional formal meals on 7-night or longer cruises.

Also, the package you get with the excursions to book includes a form to rent tuxedos.

Beyond the FAQ in the DISBoards main Cruise board, there's also a FAQ on the Disney website:

Hope all those help with the "gotchas!" :)

I can't remember for sure, but I think the first night we didn't change for dinner since we had early seating. So, do you think it would be okay if we all went to dinner in our custom t-shirts, short/capris?

WoW... I just looked at the Tipping guide.. for our friends, whom are a Party of 5, they need to keep $420 at least just for tipping the crew..

Do you Tip any of the kids clubs crew members? They have 3 kids.. 14, 12, 11 so I wasn't sure if I should tell them to add some more money in to tip the Kid's Leaders..

:confused3

Kids clubs counselors are not allowed to take Cash.

However they can and love CANDY.

Recommend buy a big bag and drop it off at the desk. They have an internal process for distributing it.

My daughters love AG! :) We are moving to Atlanta next summer and will be very close to the store, we promised to take them as soon as we get settled! :) Their clothes cost more than mine sometimes. :lmao:

I havent truly packed yet.. everything is just in big piles in my room. looks like a bomb went off. :rotfl2:

No, I do not tip the kids club crew members. Those positions are not tipped positions, per the Disney gratuities guidelines. Any tips or gifts those personnel receive have to be pooled, from reports elsewhere.

From the Disney FAQ:

What should I wear to dinner?

Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual" — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 7-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Three additional "cruise casual" nights — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One formal and one semi-formal night — formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

------
So, no for shorts, even on the first night, per Disney policy.

But capris pants are ok, right? That is what I was planning on taking with me.

Thanks Brandie ~ I'm sure we didn't wear shorts that first night then. I am not one to not obey the rules. :flower3:

This is what I sent my SIL for tipping guidelines:
Here are the recommended amounts. I always tip recommended amounts by going to guest services during the cruise and authorize the charge to my credit card. On Friday of the cruise you get the printed receipts, and envelopes to hand to the four different people recommended tip:

Restaurant Server $28.00 per person per trip
Restaurant Assistant Server 21.00 per person per trip
Head Server 7.00 per person per trip
Stateroom Host 28.00 per person per trip
Total Per Person Per Trip $84.00 for a single, and $168.00 total for a couple for the entire trip. For 5 it is indeed, $420.00 recommended tip.

Your call. I have some glorified jean shorts that are capris, and I know Coldwater Creek makes some dressy cropped pants they want 50 bucks for. :confused3

They are dressier capris...well...they are almost pants on me since I'm short! LOL!!! My sister wore them on her cruise (it was a Royal Carribean cruise, I think) so I figured they would be ok to wear on mine.

IMO, I honestly would not worry about it. They sound fine. We have seen people wear shorts and well as Jeans even in the fanciest of the DCL restaraunts..

I have dressy capris for dinner too. :) I actually bought a dress the other day at Kohls too on clearance. :) ( I am not a dress person by any means).

we finally decided on what to wear for our fun family pic, so now I need to go and buy those shirts. :) should be easy to find. :)

Am I the only one not planning on doing laundry?

I LOVE Kohl's and their Sales!!! :thumbsup2

Nope, I don't do laundry while on the ship either.. It IS my vacation ya' know :snooty:

I gotta say that on our 7 night last October there were A LOT of people in shorts - folks wearing what they wore onto the boat that day. We had the first dinner seating at 5:30 and our bags were not in the rooms until after the sail-away party (they were not there after the muster drill in other words). We got to the room after the sail away party and I remember madly digging through stuff trying to find some pants! LOL! Then I get to the dining room and practically half the people were in shorts/whatever they wore on the boat.

So...if you have that first seating I wouldn't worry - or pack your dressier things in a carry on if you are worried about it.

I love K12, but when you use a charter school, you have the same mess with getting permission to go, etc.
And to pay for the "private" K12 school is close to $6000 for high school.
Which cruise line are you looking at for that? I'd love to do Eastern/Southern Med. Our other choice would be Yangtze River or some other far East cruise.

Julie

I know K12 is expensive but it looks more like something even "I" could manage. ;) They seemed to have changed their program a lot this year with the addition of the International Academy (online private school). It wouldn't be so great if they had strict limits on trips and the like during school times..
The cruise to the eastern Med. is on RCCL - the best way to find the ones that go to Egypt is to search specifically for that port with their search function. Because of my son's medical issues we might prefer to do a cruise like that rather than travel on our own or take a more extensive Egyptian tour - I like the idea of having the dining/lodging/doctors on the boat!
