Denise: I filled out the vacation form for my oldest yesterday, the principal signed it... questionable? what like I am not going to take her. on my other daughters I am going to put an educational trip to Mexico. see if he likes that one better. :)

UNBELIEBALBE! So ridiculous, I havent heard anything either way from our principal, whatever, I really dont care, I KNOW how awesome this trip is going to be for the kids and adults:cool1:

  • Our '80's Night: Okay...the question came up earlier this week about when is One Hit Wonder Night that we're crashing for the '80s scene. I've looked at Navigators from January and February, and don't see it listed. I also saw a Mexican Riveria Navigator from May, and it had a new Rockin' Bar D theme night. It was called "Rock Star". The description was "...new tribute to greatest singers, artists, bands, and concerts of all time." It was on Tuesday night. So........anyone want to make a call on when the dudes and chics are going to be strolling the Magic performing a "Beat it" dance?? Does anyone have any knowledge of OHWN still being in place back in April??

Bumping

Seriously, Val? LOL!!! I think you might be the only one. I hope it's worth the wait. :)

Nope..I haven't peeked either (but I have to admit its been REALLY hard not to.

Who isn't packed? Besides us? I'm not feeling the panic setting in yet, so have zero motivation. For our first cruise, I had the suitcases lined up in the living room by now. All I've done so far is have everyone try on formal wear except Alex, because I didn't want to dress him up while he was sick. So his suit had better fit.

We had first day of preschool for the two littlest Hordlings. Two different schools, with pick up times fifteen minutes apart. I don't know how people who have kids in traditional school manage to get everyone up, fed, dressed and out to different locations smoothly, then go pick up again. We have got to get a system down. I even packed up the night before. This morning, only Alex goes so it'll be a breeze.

Julie

Not packed either..but I have all weekend to work on this stuff.

Now..Ike news...while we aren't getting the hurricane, we've already started getting 45 MPH winds where I live and at least 4 'striaght line wind disterbances' (AKA tornados that haven't touched down)have passed through the area this morning. My sweetheart of a boss called and told me to work from home because she did NOT want me making my 50 mile commute in this weather. I must admit..its been really nice curled up in my chari in my pjs working this morning. :cool1:

HA!

I have SO much other stuff to do before the cruise, I can't even think about packing. I'm still wearing some of the clothes I plan on bringing, so I'll need to do some laundry before packing those too. The closest I've come is throwing about 11 bathing suits in my new luggage. :lmao:

So...my schedule for packing: Wed, Sept 24th = laundry, Thurs, Sept 25th = pack

Well, I started making a list last night of what I am going to pack...does that count? If I don't work tonight, I'm hoping to get my clothing together for at least during the day.

UNBELIEBALBE! So ridiculous, I havent heard anything either way from our principal, whatever, I really dont care, I KNOW how awesome this trip is going to be for the kids and adults:cool1:

I put in the request to my son's middle school principal (he is in 6th - this is a new school for him) and she got back to me last night and will excuse 2 of the 5.5 days he is missing. She also said "it shouldn't be a problem as long as he continues with good attendance otherwise." I'm not sure what that means but it sounds positive so....I'll take it! whew! Our school is closed 1.5 days while we're gone for the Jewish holiday and she is excusing 2 additional.

I am not sure how the whole "excuse" thing works - which two days or any two days or ? I am just going to email the teachers and let them know and ask for the assignments either before or after - however they want.

My DH and I were talking last night and I understand the need for the teacher's to know who is there or whatever but .... there are so many opportunities we cannot take advantage of if we don't pull him out for trips. We were looking at an eastern Med cruise for a couple of years from now which visits Greece and Egypt, etc. - we can afford only to go off-season. It is such a tough decision to have to choose between giving your kids the experience of seeing the Pyramids or staying home to do school.

I'm seriously jealous of you homeschool people - LOL! Anyone do K12?

Does anyone know the average number of character signatures I can expect to get? I've started putting together DS scrapbook to take to school afterward and I was hoping to at least get the right number of pages set up. I'll add stickers and embellishments when we get back.

Also...I found a fat ink pen for signatures then I got to thinking...is marker better than ink in terms of visibility? Is ink better to understand the signatures? Basically I'm in a tissy as to what to have the character sign with. (minor I know but I'm at the panic point that I'm focusing on all the little things rather than the big picture).

Packing? :rotfl: I'm not even done making my dress... not to mention about 50 other things that need to get done.

We always get our DD something new from American Girl to keep her busy on the flight, buses, etc. before a trip.

I called the store in NYC to ask about the new dolls, clothes, etc... then I was going to give my husband a shopping list for today. I send the poor man into the AG store at least once a month to pick up something. He's such a good DH! The nice lady on the phone offered concierge services. You call in a shopping list, they package it up for you, bill your credit card and have it waiting at the concierge desk when you arrive. How easy is that!:thumbsup2

Anyone need anything? DH and I would be happy to bring it to WDW or on the ship! You could call it free "shipping"! LOL!!!:lmao:

Two years ago we bought her the Disney Girl doll at WDW. The clothes and the items she came with were great, but the doll's hair was not good quality. It got really ucky after brushing it a few times. Figures, even dolls have bad hair days! The DG clothes do fit AG very well!

The SINGLE digit dance starts at midnight!! :dance3:

I have successfully kept both DD away from the American Girl store in Chicago.

Every day I take the train home and I see Dad's with big Red Bags.

I love K12, but when you use a charter school, you have the same mess with getting permission to go, etc. We were going to do it with oldest dd, but they told me "she can't miss eleven days, she has to do school." Yeah, okay.
And to pay for the "private" K12 school is close to $6000 for high school.

We count so little time when we do anything Disney related. We have to prove 900 hours of instruction for grades 1-6, and 990 hours grades 7-12, but I only count things like ruins tours, museums, etc. Now if we did a Med cruise as above, that would be educational. Which cruise line are you looking at for that? I'd love to do Eastern/Southern Med. Our other choice would be Yangtze River or some other far East cruise.

Subject: RE: What do you make of this?

Reply: Its in a favorable spot to develop again. Looks like it may be trying to....Some sheer off to the north though, and more to come tomorrow. If it survives the next 24 hours it is worth watching.:scared:

NHC

1. AN AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER...INCLUDING SOME OF THE REMNANTS OF
TROPICAL STORM JOSEPHINE...IS LOCATED ABOUT 200 MILES NORTHEAST OF
THE SOUTHEASTERN BAHAMAS. SOME SLOW DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE OVER
THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES SLOWLY WEST-NORTHWESTWARD.

Finally got cruise papers. Does DCL typically send info about formal, semi-formal, pirate nights? There was nothing about those in my papers.

Thanks to all for sharing. If it wasn't for this board, I wouldn't have known.

Hi !! :yay:

Hmm... I thought it did tell you.. In the first set of brochures you get from them.. :confused3 Not the actually forms and tags package but the one before that..

Is he willing to go to Build A Bear up the street from AG ?? :rotfl2:

Ummm ok.....that means I need to add ALOT more pages :goodvibes

I bought a sketch book package on sale last year and decorated each page for a specific character and they all made a fuss over it, even crew members.. :thumbsup2

ETA: forgot Belle.. added her to the list

Oh and I had signatures from Crew members, Like Captain Tom and a Special guest Don "Ducky" Williams

Drea ~ I called Thrifty to verify hours. Their actual rental site is open 24/7, their shuttle service at the airport runs automatically every 15 minutes until 11:45 pm. After that, you all them and they come pick you up.

My DH has many hobbies......I just think he's excited to be retired and wants to hang out with me.....it'll wear off I'm sure. I've been home 12 hr. days alone for the last 5 years....so I guess it's more my problem than his. ;) ;)

Ladies ~ Thanks for the counter service info. Cosmic Rays and/or Columbia Harbor House sounds like the ticket for us. Will save those big $$$$ for cruise stuff........

WoW... I just looked at the Tipping guide.. for our friends, whom are a Party of 5, they need to keep $420 at least just for tipping the crew..

Do you Tip any of the kids clubs crew members? They have 3 kids.. 14, 12, 11 so I wasn't sure if I should tell them to add some more money in to tip the Kid's Leaders..

:confused3
