It seems as if everyone is almost ready to go....:cool1:

I guess I better get my but in gear and start packing:scared:

I'm having a hard time finding DS7 a suit. Any suggestions:confused:

Have you looked at any of the second hand suit stores? Especially for kids, there are usually suits that have been worn once or twice. My mom used to always find something that would work for my brothers. Saved a bunch of money too. :)

Here's your first weather alert of the day... 5:02 am

You're joking right? Cat 2? Down to Cat 1 after Cuba? I'm gonna kill someone! DH was called off of standby and left about an hour ago to prepare for the hurricane. He expects to be gone about 10 days. Stupid TX governor.

Boys suits... I got my son a combo set from Kohls. (pants, tie, long sleeve shirt.)--- I got it on clearance for 6.00.
jc penneys has these combo seats.

dd and I did some of our f/e gifts yesterday. and dd tried on her cruise clothes, half of them didnt fit, so off to Kohls this week...I have a 30% off!!

...do not rquire tickets. Your server will let you know which day you will have yours and what time. The little "tickets" you get in your stateroom are just a reminder like you get for yur dinner seating. They just happen to print them up like and on the same stubs as tickets for everything from excursions to Tea with Wendy.
Hope this helps!

Kimberly, last time we cruised the tickets for the Character Breakfast were in our room. I'm pretty sure you get an assigned day & time depending on your dinner rotation & time. So you don't have to pick up tickets :goodvibes

Oh thank you so much for setting me straight! I honestly didn't think everyone got to go! I thought you had to sign up. I'll go change Post #1 now!

Ike is expected to regain strenght in the warm water of the Gulf. He could go back to a Cat 2, even 3. It's too soon to tell.

Just a funny observation....

Kimberly so kindly opened this thread on Thursday and we went through approximately 12 pages. Saturday and Sunday - only 6 pages in two days. Now obviously we are all very busy with life and getting ready for our cruise (on the weekends) and apparently we have more time throughout the week to talk (maybe during that pesky thing that allowed us to book this cruise - work :rolleyes1 ).

Personally, I had a productive weekend. I started going through all the clothes I could take for the cruise and found myself sorely lacking. So what's a girl to do but SHOP!!! Started hitting the stores for sales and found a couple good ones including a pair of nice black dress slacks for $1. Yup, those pants and a pair of red capris and I spent a whopping $6 at TJMaxx. I also hit Ross, Target, Fashion Bug and Kohl's. So, I have added 5 tops, 4 capri pants and one dress slack to my suitcase for under $75!!!!

Yippee on the great shopping trip!!!

Okay...I need some help from our DCL veterans. Earlier today I added a new section at the bottom of Post #1 so those of us who are DCL virgins will have our act together during the first 24 hours on board. Can you all please take a look at the list and let me know what else should be added to the list of things to take care of asap upon arrival? Is there anything listed that isn't properly stated or warrants more details?

I think you about covered everything there, girl!:thumbsup2
There are even some things on there I didn't know about and I have been on two cruises before!

Thanks for adding that Kimberly. I hadn't realized that we had to pick up tickets to the character breakfast, I thought that everyone is automatically assigned a day and time to go.

That is correct. Here is the lowdown on the CB...

They are held on SEA DAYS* only in Parrot Cay. When you attend is based on your dinner rotation. You go to CB on the next sea day after your first visit to Animator's Palate. Or to make it simple here is when it will be based on the rotations:

If you have.... then you will go to CB on......
APPLAPL*............ Sunday*
LAAPLAP ............ Monday
PLLAPLA ............ Thursday

*Because the Western has only two sea days and on traditional Westerns, the Magic arrives in Key West late in the morning, CB is served also on Sunday. On OUR cruise this is important because going to CB on Sunday (the short day at CC) may seriously cut into your time planned there if you have the APPL rotation and want to attend CB.

CB has two seatings only, since only 1/3 of all cruisers are scheduled to attend on any given day it is held. Early seating has been confirmed to begin at 8:30 AM (by a mod who was just on the EB REPO). She ventured to guess that Late seating CB does not start until at least 9:45 (and it's probably 10:00). CB is no longer the "Island Jam" format where all the kids dance in the middle of the restaurant, it is now a more traditional type CB, like normally seen at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and other WDW restaurants where the characters go around and visit all the tables.

While I was told that the characters move through fairly rapidly, It was recommended that you plan at least one hour to 1 1/2 hours time for this event. You will recieve "reminder" tickets in your stateroom to tell you when to attend your assigned CB, and you will sit at your normal table with your regular servers and tablemates. For this reason you are unable to change a scheduled CB assignment.

Now where that fits into our planned picture....
We could either select from times like 8:00 AM (before early CB starts), maybe 9:45 AM (hopefully between CB seatings..but we probably can't count on knowing for sure that time will work until the first group goes through the CB on Sunday), right after lunch and the Palo brunches 1:00 PM, and maybe a later afternoon 3:30 PM.
We will be traveling EB on Thursday so the sun will be shining into the back deck of the boat in the late afternoon, and shining into the forward deck in the morning.
That's my best guess. What do ya'll think?

That is so cool. What are they doing with the cranes????????:confused3

Chris, you're too funny. Good luck with the bland stuff today. :)

Jen, thanks so much for the lowdown on the CB!

Okay....I am so pathetic. I was getting ready for work this morning, and suddenly this thought came over me. "Only one more Monday left to wake up on a Monday to go to work!" WHOA!! Really??? That hit me hard. Then I walked through the doors with laptop in tow, and by the time I hit the elevators I thought "Only ONE more Monday!!! OMG is it possible?"

I still think that because we've been waiting so long, it just seems like it will stay "as is" from this day forward with no reward at the end. I really hope the time doesn't seem to blink by once we're off! (yet we all know it usually does)

Maureen

I bet the Paul Dean event will be fun with your friends! I hope you do get to get close to the Magic....you just can't get away from her, can you?

Sounds like quite a treat!

Yeah can not wait to see her all clean and ready for us. Was kinda sad they added in another cruise before us wanted to be the first to sleep on the new sheets oh well :)

I will not give up one minute on CC for a Character Breakfast! I won't do it! Especially with the short day on Sunday. Shame on you DCL, trying to take away from my island paradise! To boot, you cut my CC day! That's it, I'm not getting back on the ship until 3:30! Leave me on CC, see if I care!

for any repeat cruisers, any idea what day the CC members party is? We didnt go on our last cruise.. dont know why though.

Jenn: the cranes might be to put stuff on the boat ( the swimming pool for the kids by the Mickey slide). or is it to lift the boat out of the water?? maybe both?
also thanks for the updates about the breakfast. :)

If you are pathetic so am I. I thought the same thing today. I only have 5 days of work left (4 this week and 1 next week) and then I'm done for 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cue that song I'm so Excited because that is how I feel I can't wait!!

I know what the crane is for... my luggage! LOL

Ok, Hurricane Ike is giving me a huge headache. He's swirling across Cuba with 100 mph winds, Cat 2. He'll stay there until tomorrow morning then enter the Gulf of Mexico. The Florida Keys will be swipped with winds and rain. Sounds like those media people are making too much of Ike and FL. Darn them!

So where does Ike go and at what strength... he should shoot off Cuba a littler weaker, but not wounded. He could restrength over open water and move a little to the west. All of the Gulf Coast should keep a weathered eye on Ike.
