Okay...I need some help from our DCL veterans. Earlier today I added a new section at the bottom of
Post #1 so those of us who are DCL virgins will have our act together during the first 24 hours on board. Can you all please take a look at the list and let me know what else should be added to the list of things to take care of asap upon arrival? Is there anything listed that isn't properly stated or warrants more details?
I think you about covered everything there, girl!
There are even some things on there I didn't know about and I have been on two cruises before!
Thanks for adding that Kimberly. I hadn't realized that we had to pick up tickets to the character breakfast, I thought that everyone is automatically assigned a day and time to go.
That is correct.
Here is the lowdown on the CB...
They are held on SEA DAYS* only in Parrot Cay. When you attend is based on your dinner rotation. You go to CB on the next sea day after your first visit to Animator's Palate. Or to make it simple here is when it will be based on the rotations:
If you have.... then you will go to CB on......
APPLAPL*............ Sunday*
LAAPLAP ............ Monday
PLLAPLA ............ Thursday
*Because the Western has only two sea days and on traditional Westerns, the Magic arrives in Key West late in the morning, CB is served also on Sunday. On OUR cruise this is important because going to CB on Sunday (the short day at CC) may seriously cut into your time planned there if you have the APPL rotation and want to attend CB.
CB has two seatings only, since only 1/3 of all cruisers are scheduled to attend on any given day it is held. Early seating has been confirmed to begin at 8:30 AM (by a mod who was just on the EB REPO). She ventured to guess that Late seating CB does not start until at least 9:45 (and it's probably 10:00). CB is no longer the "Island Jam" format where all the kids dance in the middle of the restaurant, it is now a more traditional type CB, like normally seen at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and other WDW restaurants where the characters go around and visit all the tables.
While I was told that the characters move through fairly rapidly, It was recommended that you plan at least one hour to 1 1/2 hours time for this event. You will recieve "reminder" tickets in your stateroom to tell you when to attend your assigned CB, and you will sit at your normal table with your regular servers and tablemates. For this reason you are unable to change a scheduled CB assignment.
Now where that fits into our planned picture....
We could either select from times like
8:00 AM (before early CB starts), maybe
9:45 AM (hopefully between CB seatings..but we probably can't count on knowing for sure that time will work until the first group goes through the CB on Sunday), right after lunch and the Palo brunches
1:00 PM, and maybe a later afternoon
3:30 PM.
We will be traveling EB on Thursday so the sun will be shining into the back deck of the boat in the late afternoon, and shining into the forward deck in the morning.
That's my best guess. What do ya'll think?
Look what I just found....
The Magic in drydock in VA! She's getting all pretty for us!
That is so cool. What are they doing with the cranes????????
