Hi all, just joining the thread DH and I are booked and starting to get really excited - our last cruise was a year ago and we are missing it big time!!! I haven't had a chance to go back through the thread yet but look forward to chatting with all of you!:cool2:

....I would yank your email address from your post, too. Spiders crawl publicly accessible pages looking for that kind of information.

They certainly do! I can't tell you how many times the Irish and British lottery have made us a winner on the DoubleDip09-2008 mailbox! :rotfl2:
Oops...did I say that outloud? No. We haven't won anything. I haven't seen a dime! I Promise!!

Welcome to the thread, alleluia5! There's some great info about this group & various activities in post #6! (There's' a link to it in Buckeye Gal's siggy line.)

Thanks for the reminders. I had not noticed that my e-mail was listed. I have already made the edit and removed it. Lois

A few years ago we went on the Magic Eastern 7 night cruise as part of Deb Wills "Pink Ribbon Cruise" Breast Cancer Survivors group. There were 35 women and 3 men. DH didn't have a suit that fit him, so I rented a tux to be delivered to our stateroom. On the first formal night the women made such a fuss over him, they kept calling him "MR BOND". To this day, when we meet up with Deb & Linda from allears, they call him MR BOND.
DH tells this story all the time. You really don't need a tux, but for this occasion it worked out fine.
Aunt Michele

Jason and I are actually buying tuxes this summer before the trip. We have typically rented them onboard in the past...because we actually HATE wearing nice clothes...so we had no reason to own a tux and renting it saved room in the bags. HOWEVER, after a few cruises we realized that if we just broke down and bought them...then after about 2 cruises they'd be paid for (because it's almost $100 to rent a tux when is all said and done). So we decided that we'd just go ahead and buy them....and who knows now that we own them maybe it'll shift the karma in our state in the right direction and NY will decide to legally recognize our relationship and then we'll already have our outfits for a wedding (FINALLY!!!)!! :cool1:

Actually...everyone will think it's ironic that Jason and I hate dressing up in nice clothes since the ONLY time we ever dress nicely is on the cruise! :lmao: We wear ties to dinner every night....Disney ties every night! We have quite a collection of disney character ties!!

WELCOME, WELCOME!! :goodvibes I've seen you around the boards, so you already feel familar!

If you haven't done so already, check out Post #6 (on page 1 or link in my siggy). That will get you up to speed on things we have going on! So hop on in and join us without delay!

I also wanted to give a little hello to buddydecat! Thanks for sending info on your family! I thought I would let you know that there are five other princes the age of your DS7, and five pirates the same age as your DS5. :)

Not surprised at the scripted responses either. We use those as well. When calling directly to DCL, the reservations folks seem to be a bit more relaxed, but there's still a bit of scripted material - especially in relation to the change from CM to GC & the reasons why.

Yes...we had to deal with this when we changed our ressie a few weeks back. Apparently one of our "accounts" (for one of the two rooms) froze up and we could not access it. (Oh yeah you guys knew that, I remember mentioning it on the thread) Well Ron (who prefers to type instead of speak for some reason...:confused3 ) emailed DCL tech (instead of calling) to get them to fix it so we could book our stuff come 90 days, and it took three emails to get through to them that the account truly wasn't accessible. The first two were form emails only slightly personalized via cut-n-paste like Lois' letters, but the third one was specifically typed up and addressed most of the problem. But not all so he sent another email...again two form letters and the third one fixed things, so we have come to believe the third time is the charm for DCL...they do eventually respond when they are tired of dealing with it and want to get rid of you!

You will only be able to book for Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and 2 days (with the appropriate specials) in Castaway Cay. No confusion at all when you go to book. :thumbsup2 They'll even give descriptions of the excursions when you choose from the list.

Only one excursion is booked up, as of yesterday. It was the cavern exploration excursion.

High tea for day 3 is full, but 3 pm on Day 6 is still open. Brunch has 3 time slots for Day 3, and only 10:30 am for Day 6. All of the time slots for Palo dinner are open.

Hope that helps!
Wow. Ridiculous. Three brunch slots??? THREE. And I am supposed to believe they truly release 50% of available ressies for online booking???? Crazy stuff. Either that or the percentage of REAS'ers is thru the roof. Guess I can plan on doing the on-board scramble. Can any of you tell what hours for Flounder's Reef are available?????? Esp. on port days????

I bet the 90-day'ers are getting really excited!! The time is almost here.
Stressed is more like it. I am actually not looking forward to it, cause I know I will just spend a couple of hours looking at the elusive swimming Mickey to find everything is already gone. :confused3 Normally I am not such a pessimist but I guess I see the writing on the wall with this one, and I don't like what it says. :( Oh well. I am trying to get "into" it but  I can't. Maybe I'm just tired. Feedings every 3, plus this is recital week for Savannah..plus she auditioned for company the other day. She is in two shows so there is blocking and dress rehersals the rest of the week. And I am in costumes up to my eyeballs. And I can't sew. :scared1: Help!!!!!

Welcome. And good luck with that!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Welcome to alleluia5:)

About Tuxes, everyone should (and does I think) wear what they want which makes the trip special for them. For our family, that means we dress to the nines. Rio and Dave both own tuxes (and are dashing in then if i say so myself) and would rather leave behind any number of other things before forgoing their chance to dress like they mean it (I don't know who Rio is dressing to impress Brandie but like your Jeremy my Dave is out to impress me--and he does a nice job of it;) ) If you or the men in your life do not want to wear tuxes they do not have to; great thing about DCL, we can alll find htings we love to do onboard:thumbsup2

Erik and Jason are absolutely some of the best dressed guys on the ship. The ties are so much fun--and checking out the evenings' choice is one of the highlights of dinner for me;)

I did not mean to use the phase "IMPRESS" the way some have take it... It is that some people think that because its FORMAL NIGHT everyone must wear or rent a tux.

In my profession I wear a tux every weekend!!!!!!

So by all means I'm comfortable wearing them....but choose not to

Didn't mean to insult anyone:worried:

I can't wait to see Jason & Erik collection of tiespopcorn::

charlie:woohoo:

I wasn't insulted. I just meant to say that some people wear a tux because they want to, and some don't becuase they don't want to and it is all good.

Janet & I are with you in that we would love to be recognized. We reach our 21 year this August. I don't see how anyone can say that is not a valid relationship. I gladly stand up to the test anytime. Lois

Paid in FULL
Insurance bought

You guys are stuck with me.

Awesome!!!!

Yes...our ties are quite the spectacle somtimes.....those who have cruised with us before (Hadley and her bunch, Chris and Rob, Sandi and her bunch) will also all be very pleased to know that we are not wearing any repeat ties on this cruise!! It's all new!! :)

Last year on the TransAtlantic we had 26 unique ties to wear (one for each of us for every night of the cruise except for formal night) that were a big hit. Since that trip I have bought or made us all new ties so with one small exception we will have no repeat ties on this trip! (Last year we had a Disney Villain's tie that Jason wore...but I have since found its sister tie...another villains tie in the same basic pattern but with different villains...so we'll be wearing those two on this trip!)

Here is where I get to gloat at having had a preview of the new ties last weekend!:woohoo:
They are FUN. Those two coordinate their ties every night. So, they match but are not wearing identical ties (except for homemade ones--I will miss the Tinkerbell ties boys!).

We might be in the minority, but dh isnt even bringing his suit this time around. A dress shirt and tie will be about it. Ds son has a shirt/tie too.
I am still trying to come up with what we are wearing for our family theme picture. Last year we did the dress clothes and Steelers, the Steelers one looked 10x better. :)
Maybe Penguins hockey?

Welcome alleluia5 !! I have a ds who is 5. dd is 8.

You have solved a mystery for me:thumbsup2 I am always trying to figure out what everyone else packs. We do a week at WDW and a week on the ship and bring all our formal duds and never really have an issue fitting everything in (except Dave's shoes becuase his size 13s take up a ton of room). It must be all the sports attire:lmao: That is something totally not on my radar :rotfl: (note in case my light hearter tone is not comming through in type--I am not criticizing you at all; it just struck me as funny because I do always wonder what everyone else is packing to take up all that room and sports shirts would not have ever crossed my oblivious mind:bitelip: )

We got a tux for DH on the last cruise and I think it was the most uncomfortable I have ever seen him - so I am thinking, well we probably won't do that again - and one day out of the blue he says, you know I could just buy the tux - its not that much more.....:confused3

And thanks for the warm welcome everyone - I am getting excited!

To make sure I have this right - for castaway members is it Sunday we can book Palo?
