OK New Question.

Where is your favorite spot on the MAGIC???

Anywhere as long as I'm on the ship :confused3

I do like the quiet adult pool at times..
Palo is Great
The room Balcony
oh and when we do get a suite.. the Jaquizzi tub :thumbsup2

I talked to my Grandmother, Ruth, today and asked her what her favorite character is. She said it is "such a hard decision", but she decided if she had to narrow it down, Cinderella is her favorite. princess:

Me and Grandma Ruth are going to get along GREAT! :)

Well being that I have never been on the Magic.. or Wonder.. Im sure I will have a great time come sailaway with a drink in hand standing next to Tonya (google111 one of my BFF's LOL) oh and next will be in any of the dinning rooms with all the yummy food :) ugg 5+ months can not come fast enough LOL

I guess my favorite place on the boat is beside my family when they're smiling. That makes all the planning worthwhile! :thumbsup2

Good Morning!

I'm 2 questions behind:

Favorite Characters are:

Me - Buzz Lightyear! (Love the ride in MK and have Buzz stuff all over the house)

Doug - Grumpy and Goofy

Grady - Pluto (he loves dogs!)

Megan - Cinderella

Favorite Place on the MAGIC:

I'll have to let you know! I've only been on the Wonder, but loved everything about it!!!!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. I spent a whole day last week trying to fix my flight from Honolulu to Kona coming up in 3 weeks. I was booked on Aloha Airlines and I'm just not up to swimming 170 miles to Kona. I finally had to buy another ticket on Hawaiian Airlines, so now I'm just holding my breath that Continental airlines does not have any problems so I can at least get to Honolulu from Raleigh.

I've been waiting for this trip to Hawaii for 10 months! I'm meeting 2 of my life-long friends there for a pre-40th Birthday get away (We all turn 40 in August, but Hawaii is so much nicer in May than August).

I'm not homeschooling this year, but I was planning on having the kids learn about the areas where we are sailing to and writing a report about it during the summer months. I'm also planning on taking a journal with us to write in each evening about something they learned during the day. I'm not planning on doing much extra durning the cruise because after all this is a vacation! I'm hoping learning about the ruins and visiting them plus the report written during the summer will be enough to make the teachers happy. I have looked at the different activities available in the kids clubs and a lot of the fun involves learning too. Not to mention that I think kids that get to travel the world and actually see things they are learning about have a much richer education. OK - off my soap box now.

I was an elementary teacher for 5 years before I stayed home with my kids and I'll post my letter to the school when it's time to write it if anyone is interested.

Jen - Any updates on Sarah? I'm praying for you, the baby and the rest of the family.

Things are busy here, but I'll try not to disappear.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tiffany

Ugh...what a mess for so many people. Sorry you had that worry.

I'm planning the same for my 40th! In fact, just this week I started getting cruise quotes from Norwegian. Since I've never been to Hawaii, I think that's the route to go so I can see more of the islands. The current thought is to fly into Honolulu, the port city, a few days before to explore that island and get acclimated to the time difference.

You'll have to let us all know how much you and your friends enjoyed yourselves!

LuvtheEars: My extended family has given me a few ribbings about getting a new stamp in Fiona's passport about once a year... She's been to Amsterdam (for hours due to a horrendous layover), Paris, the Bahamas, WDW, and several different states for trips. We have tentative plans for seeing traditional inns and various temples in Japan, seeing the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, and I would like to drag the two of them on a extended cruise to Asia and Australia at some point. Oh, and various railway trips (Alaska, Grand Canyon, etc) and a covered wagon trip. *laughing at myself*

She remembers things from each trip, so it seems worth it... kinda creepy seeing that she's only 3, but worth it.

So let's see... this year, we'll be able to add Mexico and Grand Cayman to the list of places she's visited.

And yes, I think my poor husband has earned the designation, "DW's Packmule!" Poor thing! I don't pack light, even after all these trips.

My goodness you people are chatty. It's 10+ pages to catch up on.

Disney was nuts. Crowds, crowds, and more crowds. The kids (who are used to September crowds) were horrified that we couldn't just walk on to most rides at two in the afternoon as usual. Good thing we're going back in September for a few days.

I just started reading what I missed: NKOTB were a bit before my time. I grew up in the Duran Duran era.

My sister won't be joining us. No one will switch vacation with her, so we'll be rooming with the in-laws, at least one of the kiddies will.

We still don't know where dh will be going between home and Afghanistan and he leaves in about two weeks.

Will catch up when I can
Julie

This will be my second trip to Kona with the same friend! She has a condo there that she shares with her family. We will also have a little red convertable to use, so it really makes an affordable trip with only airfare, gas and food + trinkets to bring home. It's a beautiful place to visit and I know you will have a great time!

Very cool! We can't travel that much, but I like to go to as many places as possible. I have plans to take the kids to DC and see American History and I looked into a Disney Destination to the Grand Canyon.

I love that your DH is so good about packing you all around! I have to admit I'm trying to learn to be a lighter packer. Even more so with my upcoming Hawaii trip and the restrictions the airlines are putting on luggage amounts.

Oh, I have someone in my family who also has Ruth in her name... :rolleyes1

She -never- uses it though.

:rotfl: I've always been called by my middle name, Marie. Only my grandmother used my full name, all the time. Not even my mother when I got in trouble. The names are a lot more common than you think.
:sad2: Now at work we have to use our legal first name to sign in to the computers. That has definitely caused a lot of confusion. I work with people who don't use ANY of their given names - they are ONLY known by nicknames. LOL

Hey B - I love you whole bunches. Thanks for taking up the slack for your scatterbrain mom who can't find her cellphone. I'm trying to read some of these post & catch up on e-mail instead of looking for it. You know how to reach me if you need me, right? My alternate # is BR 549. LOL
I'll be lurking around. And thanks for all the planning you do.

My pleasure, mom. But no more picking on me about having 3 cellphones and a landline! I need some way of finding the lost ones! :rotfl:

Hmmm...I wonder who you'r referring to, Brandie? You'll have to tell us about her sometime. ;)

Oh. "Hi, Marie!!" :rolleyes1

Hi Kimberly! I look forward to meeting you. Thanks for everything you are doing to coordinate activities. :cool1:

And B - my cell must be on vibrate because it is NOT ringing! Already tried calling it. The battery must be dead by now. Just like your cell phones that you misplace! Sure glad he can find them. :rotfl2: And everyone - B gets her wanderlust naturally. We traveled most of the western states before she was 6 months old. She's just expanded her borders to the international side.

Hi everyone! I have a great son-in-law! Not only does he cheerfully sherpa for my daughter but he is a great daddy to our princess and he passes messages along without garbling them or grousing about his mother-in-law. I ask you - how many can MIL's can say that?

Now I've got to go to work. Noah is demanding I pay attention to his food plate. See y'all online later tonight.

I don't permanently misplace cellphones... now keys... :headache: But we know I have a little helper who loves to play hide and seek.. *sigh* She was soooo proud of me for finding my keys (and RSA token) the last time! :rotfl:

And yup, I agree... DH is the bomb. :thumbsup2 And he does like his MIL... *shaking my head* Conspiracy, I tell ya, Conspiracy! They work in cahoots! :duck: :rotfl: And the worst part is all four of us are geeks! DH, Mom, and I all work in IT. Fiona already owns a Mac running OS X, and she somehow manages to push key combinations to "unlock" the sucker frequently. Seeing as her Mac is in the same room as my desktop, it only amazes us before we turn Noggin.com back on and turn her music back on loop (Disney Cuties, The Doggie Song. Over and over and over. :headache: ).

Mom has great taste in Sci-Fi and Fantasy books... Her trash novels, though... She gets the weirdest books from her daughter... And mom also loves those cat mystery things... :sad2: Such a shame.

Noah is the cat that is mine when he's misbehaving or duuuumb (which is often), and her's when he is lovey-dovey. Poor thing is starving... He only gets half a can of cat treats with his Meow Mix every day. He's so fat his belly drags the ground in 3 places. I actually had an ex-boyfriend who stated he wanted to be reincarnated as one of our cats because we spoil them so much.

:rotfl: Ooooh, I am soooo gonna get it when I get within swiping distance!

I love you, Mom! Whatya mean, you have a squirt gun full of ice water with the name "Fizzgig" on it??? :rotfl:

P.S. and I only had to replace my last dumb cellphone because Fiona teethed on it a little too hard. Slobber and electronics are not a winning combination, evidently, though it did make driving quieter. :thumbsup2

Jen - Any updates on Sarah? I'm praying for you, the baby and the rest of the family.

Not yet...I go back to the DR on Monday.....Will let you all know what's going on, hopefully the blood flow study will be good and we won't have to do any procedures.

Thanks everyone for the prayers, thoughts and well wishes. I have a big mouth so as soon as I know something , you will too...

Our favorite places on the Magic/Wonder:

Jen-Embarking into the atrium and hearing the welcome! (Tie with hearing the horn at sailaway....I'm such a sap!)
Ron-The bars :rotfl:
Brendan- The restaurants ("Their food.......is awesome"..lol)
Savannah- The Mickey Slide

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Our favorite places on Magic:

Me: The veranda...love the ocean view!
Hubby: The soft serve stand & Deck 9 by the Mickey Pool
Reese: Mickey Pool slide!

Hi Everybody - just got back from WDW - so crowded. I was sad that I couldn't just walk but had to watch for crowds :) .

First of all - Julie - I loved Duran Duran! That was my era and know all the songs - yes some might say geek! But that was a great time!

Our favorite places on the Magic are: the big round windows by Beat Street with my husband, some drinks and snacks. We sit there and talk all night!

Abby - the Lab!!!

crissichef - I think you said you lived or worked in East Windsor! I use to work in East Windsor. That is something you don't see often. I still love that area when I go back to visit.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I don't even want to say it, but I haven't seen Wicked thanks to my busy year and the move. Maybe one day!!:thumbsup2 Eric, can I survive with just the soundtrack?

Hoagie--That's a bummer that the World was so crowded...we're going on the 28th. Hope we don't find the same thing!!

Another idea for "schooly" thing on the boat...if you can participate in the Mickey 200 (or whatever it's called) where you use a potato, carrot, wheels, & some toothpicks/nails to build a little car. Everyone races them. Great lesson in weight distribution, gravity, teamwork, aerodynamics, problem solving, child led project decisions, creativity.

I mean further the lesson...you could have your child draw their design before or after, come up with modifications that would have made it faster/roll straighter/whatever, etc. Before the cruise, you could test different placements of carrot/potato parts to find the most efficient way to use your materials on board.

Even use the scientific method for your experiment..write it up that way as a report from the ship activity. Ask Question, Research, Hypothesis, Test Hypothesis, Draw Conclusion, Communicate Your Results.

Anyway--just a few thoughts on another on-board activity that's highly educational without even knowing it! ;)
