Double Cheeseburger with an extra bun

If I'm not mistaken, various people have posted that they save quite a bit of money at CS restaurants by ordering a double burger, and then order an extra bun, with which they divide the burger between two people.
I like this idea, and was wondering if anybody knew how much the extra bun costs, and whether or not there is ever any problem ordering it.
I'm trying to cut costs as much as possible for our Dec. trip, and this seems like it might be a great way of doing that.
TIA

I think I read that the bun is 80 cents. I'm not sure, as we haven't done this (but we might try on our next trip!)

Yes, I have a receipt from last September and it was 80 cents. I read in a recent post that someone felt uncomfortable asking for the extra bun. We ordered it at 3 different counter service and the CM never batted an eyelash. As a matter of fact, on the receipt it says "BUN" which means there must be a cash registar key just for this purpose, thus it must be extremely common, rather than on odd request that someone need feel uncomfortable about. Only issue to keep in mind if you are cheeseburger people is that there is just one piece of cheese on a double, and this did cause a little conflict with my kids....enjoy your trip!

If you really want to cut costs save the 80 cents and cut the cheeseburger in half.

This past weekend at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot the bun was $1.29. It made a double bacon cheeseburger way easier to share and a saner portion size. And yes, she had a button just for bun and never batted an eye.

What an excellent idea! With the amount of fries they serve with the burger, nobody will be in any danger of going hungry because they didn't eat that extra one-half of a bun. Plus both parties are guaranteed "cheese" as an added benefit!

Seriously? Alot of fries? :confused3 Of all the counter service we had I thought the fry serving was probably less than a Mcdonald's small bag each time, so split between 2 people I found it pretty skimpy. But then I will confess to enjoying a large fry on my own....:rotfl:

ITA....Fry portions are definately down from what they used to be....

It always cracks me up when people say that they serve a huge mound of fries..... :rotfl2:

It's more than I can eat but I guess everyone has their own level of "satisfying" portions. I was assuming the OP was splitting the meal between children anyway, not adults. And the net difference in total food intake is still only one-half of a bun per person when divided equally. If that one-half of a bun makes a difference in whether one leaves the table hungry or full, then by all means, buy the extra bun!

At Pecos Bill's last week we paid .79 or .80 per extra bun with the double cheeseburgers. They forgot the fries with the veggie burger and when I went back to the counter they gave me a much larger order of fries than what normally comes on the tray with the burger. It was in a cup, and can probably be ordered separately if you need more fries.

This is an excellent idea -- it not only saves money but it also cuts the saturated fat and excess calories in half!
