Yesterday I reviewed our point balances with MS and I found another error.

Instead of using banked 2009 points for a reservation, they used 2010 points.

The Adviser has no idea why the previous Adviser chose to do it that way and he eventually fixed our points.

These types of problems seem to happen more than they should. :sad2:

Excellent advice Bill. Happened to us recently as well and while it involved only couple of banked points, if we didn't take note those banked points would have gone unused.

:)

Imagine how many people this happens to that don't even realize it. So many people buy DVC with no real idea of how it works, they probably would never even catch an error:scared1:

Thanks for the heads up, I will keep a very close eye on our points!

Thanks for the heads up..............

Do you think this happens more to people with multiple contracts? I admit we are new - but, every time I've called ( We have 2 trips booked right now) - they always tell me how many points I"ve used and how many I have left for this use year. Is that the norm - or am I just lucky? ;)

We have two use years, so it can get confusing.

Before I call I know exactly which points I want used and from which contract and I tell them exactly which points to use when borrowing.

I know how many points are needed for my first, second and third choices.

I know how many points I should have left after making my ressie.

Once I was told that I was an usual member for knowing exactly how I wanted my ressie booked. He said no one ever knows how many points they have. Huh? :scared1: DH trusts me to get it right. DH always says he's the one who makes our money, but I'm the one who does the best job guarding it and that includes our points. :thumbsup2

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I need advice from people in the know. Somehow, because of life craziness (sick children and elderly parents, job loss, etc.--just like loads of other folks) I neglected to bank 60 points and now it appears that I have lost them. I really feel stupid. Do I make any attempt to plead my case, or is lost...lost. Thank you for any thoughts on the matter.

Dumb question here:

How do I know if they are using my banked points first for an upcoming trip?

Hey, it never hurts to try, right? Chances are though, you may be out of luck :guilty:

Give it a try though.... good Luck!

Some members have reported a once in a life time bank past deadline pixie dust. It doesn't hurt to ask and you have already forfeited your points so there is nothing more to lose.

Good luck

We are in the process of purchasing now and do not have access to the dvcmembers site. Are your point balances listed there or do you have to call MS to find out your balances?

The point activity is listed but it is not user friendly. We are blessed with having many contracts, and the more you have, the harder it is to read the info.

I would certainly call and see if they will still let you bank them. Now, if you are already in your new UY and these points have expired, I think it will be harder to get them to reinstate them, but without a call, you will never know and sometimes, pixiedust goes a long way so here it is!!! pixiedust:

I always verify which UY my points are coming out of, at the beginning and the end of my transaction. I follow up by checking the member website.

This board has taught me to check, double check and then check again. :thumbsup2

I had 120 points vanish for absolutely no reason. They had no clue why it happened. So yeah, double check.

Every time I make a reservation the CM reviews the the status of my points. I never had a problem. I do double check the web site when the confirmation arrives.

We have multiple contracts also, and I always try to tell the CM which points to use. I have had a CM pull the wrong points, but it was just a few, so it wasn't a big deal. I have had a CM book a reservation for the wrong dates. I figured it out because the point total used for the trip was different from the point total I was expecting. Everytime I have made a reservation, the CM tells me how many points are still available in each contract. I am a new member, and it can be daunting keeping points straight!

I'm not always near a computer when I make a reservation. Sometimes waitlists come through. I've so many parts to my contract that even when I say which specific one the points come from, the instructions are not always understood. However, when I am able to check and I notice a mistake, I have always found MS to be very helpful, and the end result has been great!:thumbsup2

It would help if the numbered contracts could be rearranged so that they were listed by home resort rather than by their decimal numbers, it would help me, and it would help the MS who is working with me.

Thank you for the advice. I will have DH try this afternoon--he tends to be calmer than me!

Two weeks they've been reviewing my account. Never had a problem in 10 years. They double charged my credit card and took away points. We have almost gotten it straightened out. I resent being treated like I don't know what I'm talking about. I have bitten my tongue though and been very nice and explained to them how simple this should have been. We have a 1,000 points in two contracts and now wish we had one contract. Thinking of buying a 1,000 OKW points, great price, but after this I'm not sure it would be a wise decision.

I know they must get a ton of stupid questions every day, but there are some of use who know how to handle their points.

This is a cruise by the way. We booked a B2B and had no problem this all occurred because I decided to upgrade our staterooms
