Double Charging for Gratuity

Watch out for being double charged for gratuity with a few of the non-Disney owned restaurants that take the dinning plan. Here is what your looking out for.

If you get alcohol you pay for this outside the plan, fine. You also pay gratuity on this, fine. But what happened to us was they showed us a check for the total amount meal and alcohol and as a party of 7 you pay 18% automatically for both meal and drink. Next they removed the meals from the check as they are on the dinning plan and showed us a check with just the alcohol only with a gratuity of the alcohol showing on this check also. They then added both the gratuity from the original check that had the alcohol listed on it and the alcohol plus another gratuity for the same alcohol on the original resulting in being overcharged by $12.

This has only happened in a non-Disney restaurant the once but still worth looking out for so you not overcharged.

It is definitely worth checking. We had this at House of Blues a few years ago, but not with the dining plan. I was paying OOP and we had ordered a table full of starters and sides so we could just share and try out a nice variety, meaning there were numerous items on the bill. They auto added the gratuity, but there was also a place for you to add the 18% or 20% which I duly did first, then noticed that gratuity was on the actual bill and incorporated into the total. The service as usual had been outstanding so I was going to leave more anyway, and I did - but not 40%
