We decided that we would go see how long the lines for the characters were in the tent. They were long, so we decided to skip them. Instead we did a little shopping around. We were having a lot of fun just being silly and looking.
Brian's brother had asked us to look for him a Goofy antenna topper. The only one we could find was in a bag with a bunch of other toppers. It didn't have a price on it though, so we took it to a cashier and asked him how much it was. He didn't seem happy about having to scan the package, but he did, and I think it was about $20. So, I asked Brian if he wanted to buy them. As Brian was answering me, the cashier said, "Do you want them or NOT?!" I was a little shocked at his tone, there was no one else in line so we weren't holding up anyone else. Brian just looked at the cashier and said, "No." in a tone of voice he has that is not a yell at all, but can chill you to the bones when he uses it!
Arminda and I then found a little antenna topper that we wanted to buy, a princess crown! So, I went to a different cashier and payed for it. When I turned around to find Brian and Lydia, I saw a CM kneeling down next to Lydia. My first thought was that something had happened to her! So, I rushed over and asked Brian what was going on.
Brian's face was all aglow, and he excited sad in a hushed voice, "Lydia is being granted a DREAM!"
I was a little confused yet, so the CM, Heather, said to me, "Is it ok if she has her face-painted?" I was so excited!!!
I excitedly answered, "Yes! She just asked me if she could get her face-painted!"
On the way over to the face-painting station, Brian excitedly told me how he had just been standing there with Lydia when he was approached by the CM. He told me that he had been so excited he didn't know what to say!
Everyone was excited and happy that Lydia was getting a Dream!!!
Everyone that is
except
Arminda
(ok, so this isn't a picture of her pouting, but she almost looks like she is!)
Arminda was being a grumpy gus! She pouted and had her arms folded over her chest the entire time! I restrained myself and did NOT smack her upside the head! So, we all just ignored her and soaked in all the magic and pixie dust that was being thrown at us!!!
First the CM had Lydia pick out a face that she wanted. As soon as Lydia saw the Tink makeup, she knew that was the one she wanted! So, they put Lydia in the chair, and with amazing lightning speed, transformed her into Tink!
I think I giggled most of the time!
I was just shocked at how quickly the CM did this! She then turned to me and said, "Can she have a little bit of glitter on her lips?" I said yes! I was just so happy and giddy!!! Brian and Corey were too!!
This is what Arminda was doing:
More pouting, and she wouldn't look at the camera!
I don't know why she acts like that sometimes! My kids know that one of them can get a present without the others all having too. She was just in a bit of a grumpish mood though.
So, we kept ignoring her as best we could!
After Lydia was completely made up, glitter lips and all. The CM that had done her makeup asked Lydia if she minded getting a little extra attention? Lydia said she didn't mind.
The CM then announced to everyone around that this was "Princess Lydia, Disney's newest princess!" and everyone clapped and cheered.
Everyone that is,
Except
Arminda
Who, continued her pouting.
She is VERY good at pouting! She can do it for hours on end. Trust me, I know!!! I've timed her! When she was a baby, she was the best little pouter I had ever seen! She could get her little baby lip to go right up to her nose!!! This is as a newborn too! I could never get a picture of it though!
Heather, the dream granting CM then took us back over to the tent and brought Arminda out a Dream Certificate, since she was feeling bad for Arminda. I told her she really didn't need to do that. Arminda continued pouting as we did a little more browsing in the store.
One of the CMs working in the store noticed Arminda's pouting and asked what was wrong. Arminda wouldn't answer him, so he said he wanted to put a smile on the Princesses face. So, he pulled out two Tink pins and gave them to her!
Of course, what would a mean Mommy do?? Well, of course! Tell the CM politely that while we appreciated the gesture, Arminda truly didn't deserve to be rewarded for such horrible behavior and hand the pins back to him. That's what a mean Mommy would do.
BUT, I am NOT a mean Mommy, so I kept my mouth shut! Seriously, this could be the thing that turned our day around! As I've said, Arminda can pout a LONG LONG time! Well, it worked! Arminda immediately brightened up, and thanked the CM! I then looked at the pins and told Arminda that she was suppose to find someone to give one of the pins to, preferably just a random stranger and she got to keep the other one. Arminda was pretty excited about this so she started thinking about who she could give the other pin too. She though at first that she should give it to a little girl with a Birthday pin on. I told her that I thought that the Birthday kids got enough free stuff, and why didn't she just look around and try to find someone who maybe didn't look like they were having a great day, and she could cheer them up with the pin.
Arminda took this assignment quite seriously, and started looking everywhere for someone to give the pin too.
We decided that we wanted to go into Mickey's house next.
Brian lifted Lydia up so she could see herself in the mirror. She was pleased!
Brian was SHOCKED to see what had happened to Mickey's kitchen!
He was going to take Mickey's bike for a spin around the park, but a CM kindly suggested that he leave it where it was.
Corey took some pictures of the books in the garage
The girls wanted to play in the play area for awhile, so we stopped in there.
I thought this was a funny picture of Arminda!
Lydia had fun playing in the tree
Good times, good times!
As we were leaving Toon Town, Arminda spotted a girl about her own age standing next to her little sister at the face-painting station. The girl wasn't smiling much, so Arminda approached her and said, "Do you like Tink?" Then, Arminda asked, "do you like pins?" when the girl said yes, Arminda handed the pin to her. Arminda came skipping back to me and excitedly recounted the entire experience to me, complete with Arminda hand gestures! "See, she wasn't smiling, so I thought she might be sad like I was that her little sister was getting her face painted, so I asked if if she liked Tink, then I asked her if she liked pins, and she did, so I handed her the pin, and you should have SEEN her smile, did you see her smile? she got so happy! I am so glad that that guy handed me these pins, because it made ME happy, and it made that girl happy, now she is having a good day when she didn't look like she was having a good day before and I'm happy because I made HER happy, so we are both happy!" (Arminda can fit a LOT of words into one breath!)
So, now we were all happy! And getting hungry! Arminda wanted to know if we were going to see Heather and Sawyer. I knew that if Heather was coming to this park today, that she was probably going to go to Belle's Storytime. She had planned on bringing Tessa's Belle dress for her to wear there. So, I looked at the schedule and saw that the next storytime was due to start in about 45 minutes. So, we meandered our way over that way,and then sat down at one of the picnic tables outside that restaurant there (sorry I don't remember the name!) and broke out our lunch. It wasn't busy, so we weren't taking a table from a paying restaurant customer, dont' worry!
We had a really nice lunch. Brian had packed us some sandwiches and some Chex Mix, which I didn't know we had. So, we ate and chatted and continued our relaxing day. When we were done, I told everyone that we were going over to Belle's Storytime. Everyone wanted to know where it was, so I pointed and said, right behind those trees. They were all amazed that we were so close! I told Arminda that I thought Heather would probably be there.
