Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

I don't mind going to the fitness club. It's just a matter of transportation. It isn't really close enough to walk. I have a daylight only drivers' license and the sun just isn't up long enough in the evenings. I'd have to ask my husband and/or son to take me there and then pick me up. It wouldn't be too bad if I could count on them to be on time. :p

In another month I should be able to squeeze a workout in right after work and make it home before sunset. My favorite day of the year is the start of Daylight Savings Time in the spring! :teeth:

Thats why I said One night a week. I know Todd will be able to make the commitment for one night right? And if not - have him call me ;)

I'm sorry if I stepped over my friend boundary - I just want to encourage you to go!

Hey Doe: Hope your Monday is exactly what you want it to be. I'm so glad I got to meet you at the 1/2 marathon.

:moped: Just motoring through, dear WISH-sis. Eat right. Drink water. Exercise. No messing around. Just do it. :moped:

Much love,
Erin

 Geesh, I sound like a drill sargeant. You know what I mean--do what 'cha gotta do, girlfriend, and you'll get the job done. You'll be a lean, fit, walking machine! :cool1:

Hi Doreen,
So how did you only end up with 6-10 inches of snow. We got 12-16 inches. I haven't heard the official number yet here in my town but I have a feeling it's on the upper end of that number. DH stayed home today because he is so sore from shoveling snow.

Sending lots of pixie dust so that the windchill gets above 30 soon! :wizard:

Doe:

Please send the snow here...our ski areas have had to close! No Snow and it's nearly 65 outside today! My crocus have bloomed almost a month early! My little ramapo rhodie is confused and trying to bloom too! DH pulled the palms out of the garage to bask in the warmth...It's really all too much! (While I know I should not be complaining, I know no snow means water restrictions this summer...yes, water restrictions in "rainy" western Washington.)

I hope that you can find a way to train with the inclement weather. Is there a place you can get some walking in inside at work on a lunch hour?

Well, how'd you do today Doe? I find it a comfort to return to work and my routine of the weekdays also. Did you get to exercise today? I am heading up to do my 3 mile WATP. I won't whimp out and do the 2 mile tonight!

The scale is a little slow to move these days, but it has begun to go down. I am feeling positive and confident that I can win this war (even if I do lose a skirmish here or there! :p )

I hope it was a 5 smiley day for you! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Yesterday, I earned :) for devotions, pills and water. Healthy eating was mainly on track with just a small indiscretion for dessert last evening. I'm pretty pleased about that, since my body was screaming for large amounts of chocolate all day. ::yes::

The DZone is here with a vengeance. I'm tired and cranky but there's still a place inside me where the :sunny: is brightly shining. It's a bit tougher to get to, but it's still there. I'm reminded of Erin saying she sometimes feels like a dishrag. That's a great way to describe it. However, I'm going to ride the wave and do all I can to meet my 5 goals today.

Today: (edit 2:30 PM)
1. Devotions - God is ready to help even before we ask. I'll be asking a lot today. :p
2. Pills - Taken :p
3. Water - Working on the 5th mug.
4. Healthy eating - didn't bring any food to work, the cupboards are bare at home. B was blueberry yogurt w/ walnuts. L was a burger (no bun) w/ mayo.
5. Exercise - still thinking and not doing anything about it. I'm just feeling so tired. I will do some research on the net regarding treadmills.

:sunny: and :goodvibes for your visit to the DZone, dear Doreen. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and do the best you can do. It's darn unpleasant, but you know that you'll make it to the other side eventually.
Hold on.

Just a thought. . .you say you're body's screaming for huge amounts of chocolate. What would happen if you gave in to what your body was asking for? This is not to suggest you go have a chocolate fest, but I'm just wondering. . .you know that there are lots of good things in chocolate. . .maybe you need to get yourself some of those Dove dark chocolates and have a few. Just to feed your body whatever chocolate gives it. Like I said, it's just a thought.

I'm thinking of you today, WISH-sis. Just :moped: motor on cruise control.

Erin

 Doe,
I know that when I am in DZONE, I am exhausted. It is sometimes all I can do to get through the day. Do what you can. You are doing great on your water. Keep drinking and beat the bloat fairy at her game.

I hope you have a good day,
Beth

Morning Doe! Oh I was in the same place last week. Is there anyway you can get to the store tonight with Todd? Because ya know - it is during the D-zone when we are at our weakest and cannot turn down pizza :p .

For your chocolate cravings - even if you can't get to the store for full on shopping see if Todd can stop and get you some Sugar Free Chocolate pudding and some milk. I used this during my D-zone last week and was able to enjoy chocolate and Whip Cream without any guilt at all. It was great, kept my focused, and I lost 2.5 lbs! I must always have this in my cupboard. Add it to your grocery list every week - you will not be sorry!

Also - exercise! I know it stinks but exercising will help you with those food cravings. Plus it gives you a solid hour of distraction from them. AND you might even feel a bit energized afterwards.

Do something for yourself - even if it is small. Taking a minute to sing along with a song on the car radio or sitting at your desk in quite prayer - but make yourself a priority today. You are worth it! I was reading an article in Oprah's magazine last night and it made me think of you and me. It basically said the reason we are overweight is because we don't think ourselves are worth being a priority. We put everyone else before us. We have to change this thinking and learn to make ourselves a priority.

You are going to be in my thoughts all day Wish-sis and I'm sending you lots of  and :wizard: .

::yes:: I agree, do what you can. When I am exhausted is usually when I eat off program. So I can understand. Amanda's suggestion of keeping the sugar free chocolate pudding is a very good idea. I am going to follow that too ok Amanda?

Doe, I didn't know you were my DVC neighbor! Small world huh? ;)

Here's wishing you a wonderful day. Think Spring! :sunny:

Hi Doe!

I am sending you some :sunny: :sunny: and :wizard: :wizard: to help you through your day today.

Sugar free chocolate pudding sounds like a great way to get some chocolate! I have some in my cupboard right now and I may have to force myself to make some. ;)

I hope you have a great day! :flower1:

Hi Doreen,

I  the start of Daylight Savings, too. Bring on the :sunny: !!!!

Your day looks great. Keep searching for the sunshine within-- toss the dishrag :teeth:

Sundie

Hi Doe - hope today turned out wonderful :flower1:

Chocolate pudding & whipped cream - yummy that should hit the spot ::yes::

Stay focused, get some exercise & than some rest!

I earned 3 smilies yesterday - devotions, pills & water. I'll definitely earn those same 3 smilies today. However, I'm going to do my best to earn the food & exercise smilies too.

The DZone is upon me and my eating last night reflected it. I was tired and caved in to the pizza my family wanted.

I did get to bed at 9 PM and had a good night's sleep so I'm not feeling quite as tired this morning. The "girls" are so swollen that they hurt with every step I take - anyone got any ideas for a natural diuretic? I'll be trying to drink extra water today but I'm open to any other ideas.

Tonight we go for haircuts and I'll get my hair highlighted. It's extra money but the uplifting feeling it gives me is worth the $.

DH and I were again discussing the treadmill. We don't have the cash and we don't want to take on any more debt. I told him that my true need is to walk/run several times a week to train for the half and I already have the fitness center - I just need transportation. The solution? He's going to join the fitness center too and we'll go together in the evenings, at least until the sun stays up long enough for me to go on my own. Maybe we can eventually motivate the kids to join too and go as a family. They could certainly use the exercise.

Today: (edit 3:30 PM)
1. Devotions - done.
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - 2 mugs (24 oz) + I'm finishing a 16 oz bottle so 40 oz so far. I'll need to get 2 more mugs in tonight.
4. Healthy eating - B was yogurt w/ walnuts. L was a Subway lc wrap. D??? Go to the grocery store tonight. Since I'm in the DZone and craving chocolate, I picked up 1 Russell Stover LC chocolate mousse heart (less than 1 carb). I've stored it in my desk for when I'm desperate but I'm going to try to not use it. It's 3:30 PM and I haven't eaten it yet. :p
5. Exercise - call the health club and add DH to my membership. I called to the price to add DH - no problem! Find time to walk a bit, even if it's only 5 minutes. I walked 15 minutes over lunch hour to get my Subway LC wrap. :p

I'm feeling mentally sunnier despite the bloat fairy. :sunny:

I've spent lots of time on journals today. I really want to get caught up with everyone and pop into the journals of those who are new around here. This just takes a ton of time but everyones' stories, struggles and successes so inspire me. If I haven't gotten to you yet, I'll be there. I'm basically caught up with every journal with 200 or more posts. I'll do all those in the 100s next, etc.

I need to drink 2 more mugs of water and eat LC tonight for 5 smilies - I'm going to do it!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

:sunny: Good morning, WISH-sis! Congratulations to you on solving the treadie problem! I think that you and Todd will enjoy going together. I know Mike and I like it when we actually get there!

I think the DZone is even more dangerous when it's grey and cold outside. Try to light your world with your inner :sunny: ; maybe that will help!

Enjoy your day and do what you can do. That's all we can ask when we're in the 'Zone!

Hugs,
Erin :sunny:

Good morning princess: Doe,

I think it is awesome that DH is joining you at the gym. It will help hold both of you accountable. :p

I know DZONE is hard for you. I am sending :wizard: to help. As for a diuretic, try some tea, and grapefruit is supposed to help with that too. Stay away from the salt today.

Be good to yourself today. :sunny:
Beth

Yea! on Todd joining the fitness center! (this new guy is cute!) - Todd is such a great guy - give him a hug for me!

I had to giggle at your journal a little this morning because I said yesterday that during the D-zone it is hard to turn down pizza! We've all been there and done that! Seems like when the D-zone hits that is all I want - yummy cheesy pizza. Glad to hear you are getting to the store and getting some sugar free chocolate pudding. You will LOVE this snack - I have some white chocolate pudding sit in my pantry right now waiting for me to mix it up.

Have a good day Doe and drink lots of water to get the swelling down. :grouphug:

~Amanda
