Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

You had a good day today! Great job! Your turkey roll ups sound yummy - I may have to make some for myself tomorrow.

Hi Doreen,

Wow, you are doing great. I know the cravings are something terribly when TOM is on it's way for me. Great job resisting!

Hope the rest of your week goes well.

Jodi

Good morning, Doreen. It's grey and yukky here. . .here's some :sunny: to get you past the Munchie Monster and some more :sunny: to get your through the day.

Doreen, you did a great job at the healthy club yesterday!:Pinkbounc Having "get up and go" is so hard at TOM but you're pushing through it. Good for you!

Take care, Doreen. Move through the day with baby steps if you have to.

Love,
Erin

Yesterday went well except for a mini-carb-fest when I got home from work, but at this particular point in my cycle I'm not too worried about it.

Today - pills, water, food, exercise. I've taken my pills with 12 oz of water and some cashews. Lunch will be a PBJ sandwich and an orange - it's what I had at home and it sounded good. Dinner - will worry about that later. Exercise - hmmmm, not sure. If I'm spending 1.5 hrs at the health club 3x a week and one long walk once a week, do I really need to work out the other 3 days??? I'm not sure.

The answer to your question is, "Only if you want to!" Keep in mind your body does need the rest periods to help regroup.

~Amanda

Sounds like a good day ahead. Just don't burn yourself out with the working out. Last thing you need is that or to hurt yourself. Enjoy life and take it easy the other 3 days

Good morning Doe:sunny:

It sounds like you have a great day ahead of you today!::yes::

As for exercise... I have struggled with this myself. With two toddlers (or preschoolers) at home, our lives are very busy and I don't always have time to exercise a set amount of times each week. What I am trying to do now is workout one day, rest the next, and so on. On my rest days, if I feel like taking the girls for a walk, I do. If not, I don't. By keeping this schedule, I am working out at least 4 times per week. Any additional exercise is an added bonus. ( By the way, the rest days have really helped me because on those days I can eBay or just spend some extra time with God.:teeth: )

Have a great day!

Hi Doe

Thanks for posting to my journal!! It makes me feel that much more at home here on the boards.

My physical therapist will tell you that your body does need to rest and you should not exercise every day or make sure you are changing your mode of exercise from light to heavy workouts.

Do take a day off and enjoy a nice leisurely walk around the neighborhood!!

Not if I could only get started exercising!!

Have a Disney Day!!

Linda

Doreen, I would go easy for right now. Most resources say exercise every other day. So I would do the exercise 3 times a week and one long walk once a week....but that is just my opinion.

You're muscles need time to recover from the hard work that you have put them through, besides people who workout everyday tend to burn themselves out.

After working out for awhile then you can play around a little bit more with the time spent at the gym. I hope that helps?

Have a great night!

So nice to see everyone here!! :wave2: Thanks so much for stopping by my journal.

I'm going to go with everyone's advice and plan to hit the health club 3x a week and then take a long walk on one other day. I don't want to burn out. I want to make this a healthy habit that I can do for a long, long time.

I am actually enjoying that slightly achey feeling in my muscles that tells me I've been working out. It isn't pain, but just a certain tightness - hard to put into words.

Yesterday was a carb-fest, plain and simple, but it's in the past. I can eat that way once in a while (usually right before TOM!) but I just don't enjoy the carbs that much anymore. Today will be another tough day for craving carbs but that will be gone tomorrow, now that TOM is here. What a relief!!

Today will be a busy day at work. I've got lots to accomplish but I'm looking forward to it and enjoying the challenge. I'll be doing the usual - pills, water, exercise & food. Yesterday I took my pills and got most of my water down but that was it. Today I'll be doing better. I'm looking forward to working out tonight at the health club. I think I'm starting to see some changes in my body already from lifting weights and doing the intense cardio.

EDIT: 9 AM
Pills have been taken. Almost finished the first 12 oz mug of water. B = blueberry yogurt and a banana. Since I'm craving carbs, I figured I might as well pick healthier carbs than the stuff in the EVM! :p I'm patting myself on the back for making better choices. :sunny:

EDIT: 1 PM
24 oz water down. S = peanut bar, L = 1/2 lb burger w/ secret sauce

This afternoon I've got to stop playing around on the DIS and get some work done! ;)

:sunny: Good morning to you, Doreen!:sunny: As I began to write this, the sun peeked out from behind the many clouds--it sounds like you're shining brightly where you are.:D

I think your exercise plan is a good one. We're in this for the long haul and we sure don't want to burn out. I've had to re-evaluate a bit myself today and I think moderation is the key.::yes:: Healthy habits are what we want!:Pinkbounc

I don't know if I'll make it around to say hello tomorrow before I go to G-burg. Have a good weekend if I don't; I'll talk to you Monday.

 ,
Erin

Way to plan Doe!

The blueberries have been so good this year. I'm sending you some:wizard: to help with those carb cravings. Enjoy your workout tonight.
Beth

You are looking good Doe! Your exercise plan is very solid and I agree - if you are going to eat carbs at least make them good ones. Of course now you have me craving bannanas. :)

I know you are going to have a great day today!

~Amanda

Your plan for today looks great! The carb fest is in the past! I agree with you about the exercise burn out. It makes it so much easier to stop. Just wanted to say  and keep up the great work!

Gail

Hi Doreen,

Just popping in to say hello. Don't know if I will be able to tomorrow, with Charley coming my way. Keep at it girl

Hi Doe,

How did your workout go? I bet you are seeing changes in your body already. Lifting weights + cardio is a great fat-burning combination.::yes:: That's why I love the FIRM so much! :Pinkbounc

I hope you have a wonderful Friday!:sunny: Take care!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Doreen:wave2:

Looks like you are back in the game. Glad to see the healthy food choices - I had a brownie the other nite and after debating about it I ate it:( We are never going to loss if evil overtakes us;)

What are you doing for internse aerobic at the gym? I've been walking steadily, slow & steady to get the donald medal:earsgirl: Any chance you can meet next month for a longggg walk?

Have a fabu friday:cheer2:

It was raining cats & dogs last night so I didn't go to the health club. :( I also didn't eat low-carb yesterday. :( On the plus side, I did take my pills and drink all my water. :D :D

Today - pills, water, low-carb food and at least a short walk for exercise. I've taken my pills and had an egg & some sausage for breakfast. The first of my 5 mugs of water is finished and am off for a refill as soon as I post this.

Work is demanding but I'm feeling positive about it. I think it will be a good day! :sunny:

MeMe, I'd love to get together for another walk! I'll send you a PM. I'm thinking we should plan one in September and October and maybe even early November. I'll check my calendar!

When I'm at the health club, I start with 30 minutes on the recumbent bike doing the weight loss program (some serious interval training!). Then I do the weight circuit. I finish with 30 minutes on the EFX which is like an eliptical trainer but it also adjusts the incline like a stepper. I set it on a program that's for my glutes (gotta make sure my caboose isn't sagging! :teeth: ). I am just dripping with sweat and my heartrate is up when I'm on the bike and the EFX machine.

EDIT: 1:20 PM
Lunch was a Subway lc wrap and I've stayed away from the EVM so far today! I've finished my 3rd mug of water - 36 oz, so I have 2 more to drink. I walked for 15 minutes during lunch hour too!
