I have a dopey wife!
Yes in the past I have had chilli con carnie served up and the chilli beans are still in the tin unopened on the kitchen worktop.
She buys things without looking at the sell by date and comes back with a load of items with a short date on them!
Today I discovered how Dopey she really is! She bought me a computer case and paid for it twice!
Christmas 2007 she bought me a nice leather computer case from John Lewis cost £100. A couple of weeks ago the lock fell off and I took it back to John Lewis, with the receipt she had kept. I left the case with John Lewis to get it repaired, having shown the receipt. Last week John Lewis phoned saying that they could not repair the case and offered £50 compensation, I pushed them up to £75. Today I chose a new computer case and paid the balance, the sales person asked for the original receipt again and this was the first time that I had looked at it properly. There was only the computer case on the receipt, but the sales person had somehow scanned it through twice, so it showed twice and showed a total of £200. The wife had entered her pin number to pay for it without realising the amount and even settled the credit card bill again not realising it was the wrong amount.
To John Lewiss credit, when I pointed out the mistake today (18 months after it happened), they realised that she would hardly have bought 2 identical computer cases and gave her a refund of £100.
