Dopey 2015 Official Thread

So question, I'm guessing many of you have some type of board where you display all your hardware? I do as well and am trying to think thru how I want to display this new set of trophies? How are you going to display your 6?? Happy Holidays & Happy Running!
I'm going to get a new hanger from http://www.ironsportworks.com. They do great standard & custom medal hangers (mine is the Texas Marathon Challenge one on their home page) and are owned by a pair of Disney runners outside Orlando. Very friendly couple who provide excellent service.

I'm getting this for my wife:

ClewRunning and I did indeed have a good one, I hope the same for each of you. I heard a great line on a podcast Monday that had me slightly rethink my next 2 weeks of training going into the race. He said...it's far better to go into a race 10% under trained that 1% over trained. Got it, not doing anything over 6 from here on out and will just do a bunch of 3's & 4's to stay loose...and mentally sane :) So question, I'm guessing many of you have some type of board where you display all your hardware? This year, I bought a wooden display with hooks for medals and hooks to hang bibs on. It's painted and says "celebrate every mile". I got it on etsy for maybe $30-40. It's not the fanciest, but I like that it holds bibs and medals, and I was able to pick which color I wanted it painted in :)

I'm anxious about the weather, well at least until I checked the AccuWeather forecast. The Weather Channel look ahead won't start showing for a couple more days, but the temps seem to be on the warm side. (Better than sleet and snow....)

Thurs -- 57°/71° Sunrise 7:20am Clear and Sunny Morning
Fri -- 60°/80° Sunrise 7:20am Slight Clouds and Sunny Morning
Sat -- 54°/82° Sunrise 7:20am Cloudy Morning
Sun -- 42°/67° Sunrise 7:20am Colder & Cloudy Morning

The good news is that we're running at 5:30 most days so we'll at least get the cooler side of the temps. Sunday's marathon looks good. Will be running mostly in upper 40s and low 50s if it holds true to this forecast.

We should all be in taper mode at this point. Here's hoping everyone feels great and is healthy!

Two long full days at work, two activity filled days with friends and family and then it's time for me to hit the road for my two week coast to coast Disney runcation. Oh, I have to have the mail held. I'm glad I got most of my packing done last night.:groom:

This little gem of a Mine Train car may be just the thing to hold and display all my Dopey medals.

Hooray! Wristbands are back! From today's rD email:

"Participants will receive a Finisher wristband after finishing each race qualifying them for the next leg of the challenge and remain eligible for the Dopey Challenge Medal and the Goofy Challenge Medal"

Yep, they did it last year as well.

If you're only doing Goofy,do you have to get a wristband after the half marathon,or are the wristbands only for Dopey runners?

The email didn't mention Goofy, only Dopey. I would assume that if they're giving wristbands for one, they'd do so for both, but that's just a guess. I'm just happy I can skip the picture taking.

Is anyone else obsessively checking the weather? It's looking crazy. Cool for the 5k and warming up every day after that. Just hoping the rain holds out and the temp isn't too warm for the marathon.

Yes! Looks like the worst day might be Sunday with the heat and humidity.
I plan on taking it slow and if things get crazy, going slower!

Have not heard about the wristbands......is there one for each day or just one for the entire weekend? When and where do you get them?

I'll already be wearing my Disney magicband!!! Be great if these were sweatproof.

They are similar to the wristbands they give out for other challenges (Coast to Coast, Glass Slipper, Dumbo). After cross the finish line and snagging your bling you will make your way to an area with Dopey Challenge signage where they will put a wrist band on you after completing each of the 5K, 10K and Half. Without all three of these bands you don't get your Dopey medal.

Jeanigor---thanks for the response.

This will be my first RunDisney event but very much looking forward to it.

Does anyone know if the pacing requirement starts when you cross the start line or is it from the official start of the race. I imagine it would be the first one as the back corrals would be at a severe disadvantage.

Some of the marathons I have done just have a total elapsed time limit from the starting gun. Never been a problem for me but with the heat and humidity forecast for the weekend, just want to make sure I have a good raceday plan.

The pace clock starts when the last runner from the last corral crosses the start line.
