Yup, dummy here.

OK. I would LOVE to decorate our door. I have alot of computer equipment and printers, but not a great deal of know-how (all dressed up and no place to go...).

Is there a link on how to create a door magnet? What do I buy to print them on? Do I print a picture and paste it on a magnet?

Also, I have seen many of the fantastic graphics on the ongoing thread, but how do I copy them? Just right click on copy? Would you do this on a MAC or PC if you had a choice?

Thanks up front for all your help.

I am not well versed in creating door magnets but I just right click and save the pictures I like on a word document, then print it on regular paper. I have access to a laminator so I then laminate it and put some magnetic tape on the back. It isn't terribly professional but they turn out well and didn't take me long. I hope this helps!

You can also buy magnetic "paper" at office supply stores and print directly to that. It's easier, but might be more expensive. The magnet sheets are costly, but I don't remember how much.

If you want to personalize it, you can move your picture into your word processing program and type around it. I usually use text boxes I can move around or use a graphic arts program, which is easier after you get past the learning curve. If you don't want to personalize it yourself, in the Creative DISigns section there are several designers who will do it for you and then you can save as and print directly to paper or magnetic sheets.

Hope this helps.

I got some fun designs from the Creative DISigns thread here on the DIS. I bought magnetic paper at Staples and just printed the .jpg images onto the paper like regular printer paper (put the .jpgs into word docs as suggested). The looked great and my kids thought it was really cool that our door was one of the only ones decorated on our hall. The only bummer was that a couple of them got stolen. :sad1:

I have the magnetic paper and I LOVE IT! My fiance bought it fo rm e for Christmas for this exact purpose! So far I have had no issues with it whatsoever. I just stick a piece in and hit print. The printer grabs it and feeds it through just like regular paper. It IS more costly but for me it's worth it not to have to print them out, cut them out, laminte them and then put magnetic tape on the back, whatever floats your boat *pun intended* LOL!

They have the magnet paper at all of the office stores and I think mine was 11 for 4 sheets. It seems a BIT high BUT, not every magnet takes up an entire sheet of magnet paper so some sheets I get 3 or 4 magnets out of. To me its just worth it to be able to print the picture on it, cut it out and be done.

here's the first one I made for our upcoming cruise:
