Right now the Disneystore.com has buy $100 in Dooney & Bourke get a Dooney and Bourke cosmetic bag for $29. I'm going to be in Disney in a few weeks and I was going to buy a purse there anyways, do they run the same sale as the website? Can I buy the purse online, get the cosmetic bag, and exchange it in store on property if the pattern isn't where I want it to be?

I would say yes. If you are just doing an even exchange and want a better pattern placement there's no reason to not let you do it.

Finally had enough time to chat with the Disneystore customer service, no exchanges in store from something bought online, which I think is stupid but what am I going to do :confused3 Does anyone know if they are doing the offer at Disney world locations right now?

I just purchased the $29 cosmetic bag last week from disneystore.com and was also curious about the pattern placement. I just hoped for the best :) My order arrived last Friday and I was pleasantly surprised with the one I received. Yes, if I had been in the store, I would have analyzed every single bag to select the "perfect" one for me, but in all honesty, the cosmetic bag is so small that I think there is less risk involved than there would be if you were buying a larger purse in that same pattern.

I'm not worried about the cosmetic bag pattern placement but the pattern on the $100+ purse that needs to be bought in order to get the $29 cosmetic bag.

Oh, I misunderstood! In that case, I would definitely be concerned then. For that much money, I would want to make sure I'm happy with the bag. So if you would like my review of the $29 cosmetic bag instead... I don't think it was really worth it UNLESS you are a big collector of all things Dooney and Bourke. I'm not normally a Dooney collector, but I do happen to love that particular pattern and I was buying one of the new Dooneys anyway, so I figured $29 wasn't that much more to spend. BUT, it's pretty small and I don't really know that it will prove to be very useful. So with that said, I might forfeit the chance to buy the cosmetic bag and just wait and buy the purse in the store to ensure you are getting the pattern placement you like.

Thanks for the review! It really does help, I was thinking about the wallet as well but it looks so small! I think I'll probably just stick with picking out one in person.

Could you buy the bag that you want in the store and then return the one from online with the store receipt or is that wrong to do? I normally am not that picky about placement, so I haven't had a problem, but I know some really like a certain pattern.

I'm not sure, they could have different tags/rn numbers. If it didn't work out I would have to return it to the Disneystore.com by shipping it back to them, in which case I would loose money. Not sure if it's worth the effort. I don't understand why Disney's brick and mortar store and their online store has such a disconnect, Walmart and Target seem to have good handle on it.

Um, because it's a Disney website? :confused3 Before the Children's Place debacle, I think you could return at a store. I thought you still could return to a regular store, just not the parks since those are two totally different divisions. Shows how much I know.

You can't return regular items from online to the Disney Store, I thought maybe the purse would be different since it's a 'park item' which means it's only sold in the parks. Unfortunately it seems anything bought online has to be returned the same way.

I have bought stuff online and returned them to Disney Stores (not Disney Park stores) with no problem. I didn't exchange, just returned for a refund.

I did some digging and finally found their Return policy which states 'Returns or exchanges of merchandise purchased from DisneyStore.com can be made to any Disney Store location in the continental United States in accordance with the in-Store Return Policy, excluding Personalized Items, Art, Limited Edition items (excluding apparel), Vinylmation, Mirrors, Electronics, Indoor and Outdoor Furniture, and Special Order merchandise. All returns must have the original packing slip/receipt with the merchandise to be returned or exchanged.'

Which would suggest that yes I could return it in store, so why did the customer service rep say I can't? :sad2: Maybe the purses are considered special order or limited editions? Oh Disney, why do you have to be so complicated?

I have done exchanges purchased online at our local Disneystore. They reordered and had the item shipped to my home.

I would consider personalized items and numbered items (as in 43 or 500) to be special order or limited edition. I would think you could do just what you are wanting to do with no problems. A lot of times the CMs have lots of different answers for the same questions is what I have found. If the rep at the counter doesn't want to do the exchange, ask for a manager. I don't think you will have many issues though.

Dooneys are considered Parks items, that's why they "can't" be returned from online to instore. However I've seen it done. We had that purse behind the counter for a good 6 months before somebody bought it, that's why they don't like to do it.
