Dooney & Bourke Disney bags...worth the $$?

Has anyone bought the Dooney & Bourke Disney bags? I am considering the small cross-over for our trip in March...reviews?

I am a Dooney girl and have only carried Dooney bags and wallets for years. I love the quality of the leather bags and there are so many great styles. While I think the Disney bags are cute, I do not see myself using one outside of Disney, so that would be a lot of money for a little used bag. Only you can really decide if it is worth it to you.

I haven't bought a Disney Dooney yet. I've seen them in person and the quality appears to be good. I have a number of other Dooney bags and found that the leather bags wear exceptionally well....I carry one every day and can attest that they hold up well. I have personally not had as much luck with the non-leather bags. I had a large Cabriolet bag in a "micro-fiber" that had very faulty hardware; the bag was quite costly and I was not pleased to say the least. I had it fixed, but still....I know this is not necessarily the norm....I gave my friend the same bag and hers is fine. But I have stayed with the leather (costlier....yes) bags and they are terrific. The Disney bags are very cute. I could not decide which one I liked the best, so I have not taken the plunge yet.

It's the perfect size for a VERY tiny digital cam corder and a very tiny digital camera and maybe a very small wallet. It's not big enough for anything else.

I love Dooney and Bourke but - for the price - I prefer their all-leather bags. It hurts me just a little bit to put out that much money for a purse that isn't all leather. However, with that said, the quality is typical Dooney...very high.

One thing I like about this particular cross-body bag is the very long strap. I'm a Pooh-sized woman and cross-body bags often hang too short for me. Not so with the Dooneys.

i like mine... but if i were to do it all over again, i would have bought in the parks rather than online. the characters are in different places depending on the bag, and i wish my tinkerbells were more visible.

other than that... i like it, and get lots of compliments on it!

When I was at WDW in Dec I bought these two:

They were a waste of money. I've yet to use either at home. The large sketch tote is just too big to ever use for anything other than an overnight bag. Not sure why I don't use the wristlet though. I just never think about it. Funny thing is I went into the YC gift shop everyday I was there in Dec just to look at this bag and a silver rhinestone and pearl Mickey Head necklace trying to decide which one I really wanted. Finally on my very last day, since I couldn't make my mind up which I wanted, I bought all three. I wore the necklace a few times, but even it is sitting in my jewelry box. All three are purchases that I regret. Even with my AP discount, I feel like I wasted over $400.00. lol

my DD bought one in December, I agree with PP about getting the bag in person. The patterns vary from bag to bag, my daughter looked at every bag they had in the style that she wanted. She even returned the first bag for a second at a different store.

Yes...yes...yes its worth it. I have been a huge Dooney fan for about 3 years now. I have about 10 purses and 2 wallets. And I just purchased my first Disney Dooney and love it! I can't wait to use it on my next trip. I don't know that I will use it as an every day bag, as it is a cross body style and too small for my everyday bag. But it is goign to be perfect for vacationing.

I am looking into the cross-over bag. There are two patterns that I am considering. One is only available at DL and since I live close to DL I thought that one would do. The other is only sold at DW...decisions decisions! We are going in March for a trip that is a gift from my husband's company. Gotta love a nice perk every now and again! So since the trip is essentially free, I was going to reward myself for all my "hard" work with packing and planning!

I have never spent more than $30 on a purse until Dooney and Disney combined their efforts. I now own a tonal wallet, a medium 2nd edition sketch and a black mickey wristlet.

I love them and use them daily. I admit I am a disney addict, so I don't have a problem carrying them anywhere I go. I am proud to show them off, so the concept of only using them in the parks is foreign to me.

That being said, I suppose it depends if you would be a daily user or a parks user. If I were only using them in the parks, then no, I wouldn't spend that much on them. Since I use them regularly, after I got past the initial shock of spending that much on a purse, I now regulary scope the DIS boards for news of new releases.

This is very good advice. I recently bought a tote. The CM was great and quickly pointed out how three exact bags can look like very different bags because of how the characters and pictures line up on the bag.

I am truly appreciative that the CM did that so I could make sure I was able to get the pattern that I liked best.

I have the mickey mouse (black) tote bag with all the different color mickey's on it!!! I LOVE IT!!! I never have paid this much for a purse, but I have had it since Christmas and I LOVE IT!!! HA HA!! I cannot tell you how many compliments I get on it. Almost everyday that I am out. It is well made and I feel it will last me a very long time! Just ordered the sketch duffle bag if that tells you anything!!!

We purchased our bags in Dec 2009. I have the larger tossel black multi Mickey one and my DD's 7 & 9 have the sketch wristlets(teach them while they are young). We have been using them for over a year now and would say the answer to the question are they worth the $$$$?

Yes, it is not my only DB bag and I change bags often. So may compliments and lots of comments. I have also meet many other self dx Disneyholics. The girls love there wristlets as they are so cute and they carry their DS and phone with them when we go out.

However I do not use it when at Disney I prefer my Coach crossover, but with the new DB styles I may be adding to my collectionl.

I was just exposed to Dooney and Bourke yesterday! The 40th anniversary messenger bag! Oh how I want one!! Have been 'searching' web since on where to buy them. Am I reading this thread right? Can you buy them in WDW? It's my 40th birthday too and to celebrate we will be in WDW in October I was thinking about a mickey watch for my birthday but I love this bag!! Please tell me I can buy it there!

If you are a disney nerd like me then go with for it. The DB bags are great and of course have disney all over them. I think they are great you should get one.

I have a Disney Dooney shopper bag that I use everyday. It is the best bag that I have ever owned. I have had it several years and it shows no signs of wear and tear. That being said, I always look at the smaller Dooney's while at WDW but can't justify the dollars for the smaller bags. I use either a Vera Bradley crossbody or backpack instead while touring the parks.
