you come back from a 2 day business trip only to discover that you have to fire someone? I hated to do it but he left me no choice. Boy some days I wish I was retired.

Sorry about the firing. That's got to be tough. Was it out of the blue, or did the person know that his/her job was in jeopardy?

Firing someone is never fun. Even when the person really deserves it(as opposed to a layoff) it's always harder on me than the other person.
