Do any of you think that Disney will come out with another room discount for late summer? I don't want the free dining. I'm hopeful for another 40% or similar deal. Or, is the 40% deal a once a year thing?

Im with you. We are AP holders and have the DDE card. It is more beneficial to us to have an AP Rate as opposed to free dining. Also, we have no children.

We are booked for CBR Aug 8 - 19th . AAA Rate of 1584.00 Water View. With an AP Rate, it would be $1381.00.

Free dining with NO discounts would be $2,294.00. There are just way too many restrictions with the free dining. Plus, we have been there so many times, we usually split lunches and dont eat breakfast. Also, we like to have a beer or two and alcohol is not included. Plus, we dont need passes.

So, for us, we want an AP Rate.

I need a good room discount for part of our trip too. (Aug 17-20).

Well, I'm on both sides. We booked free dining for after our cruise, but I need one night before our cruise, so I'm hoping for a room-only code. It looks like last year they offered a room only code during "free dining", but not in 2005. I guess we'll have to wait and see... :(

After a ton of consideration, dh and I are passing up the free dining too (most likely anyway). We are hoping for an AP rate. After running the numbers with how much him and I eat (along with our 2 girls) which really isn't all that much (and we usually do do 1 table service daily and eat either have a counter service breakfast or lunch of some sort), paying rack rate for whatever resort and getting free dining for free isn't nearly as good as a deep discount for the room for us personally.

Here's hoping for some AP rates. :)

It's just going to come down to how desparate they are to fill rooms. The economy continues to be strong so they don't need to offer as many significant room discounts. People seem to eat up (pun intended) the free dining offers, and free dining is significantly less costly to the company than 40% room discounts.

Given the overall economic conditions, we're just not likely right now to see any deep room discounts offered to the public at large.

I have been running the figures over and over... coming to the same conclusions. I want a AP discount. I have a lot of Disney Rewards built up, so we really eat free anyway. I have debated on this for weeks, we are holding off. If they fill up, maybe we'll take a cruise. :tinker: :tinker: :tinker:

Right there with you friends, We have AP's, a 40% discount room, a 4 yr. old who won't eat at all. I have DDE card and a DVC. Why pay rack rate to get something I don't need.

I am happy for everyone who got in on it but for us this year, we are going to pass and maybe next year.
