Don't touch that! I need a picture first! TR - **NEW 04/17 PTR IS UP

Awww, Jen. Lots of stressful stuff on your plate! I'm sorry the car thing and vacation stuff was so time consuming and irritating. Glad the vacations worked out in the end though!!

Economy isn't that bad. The seats for trans-Atlantic are a bit roomier, and if you take a pillow and a sleep aid, it's not terrible. Might save you some money for extra souvenirs...... ;)

Oh Jen, real life sucks sometimes, doesn't it? It sounds pretty stressful for you at work, I can't imagine bidding for hours! Sounds like something you'd do at the New York Stock Exchange.

I'm glad you got your vacation time sorted out too, whew! And a trip to Italy?? Awesome!

Vegas is realllly easy to tour. Here's the way I planned mine and DH's two day vacation there without the kids.

We explored several hotels, the Venetian, the Paris, MGM, and the Bellagio. Each one offers something unique...the Venetian has gondola boat rides that go either inside the hotel or outside. A trained singer will serenade you and it's really cool! The shops there are awesome, there's even some street entertainment inside since it's designed to look like a plaza. Also, outside the Venetian is a walkway that leads to Madame Tussaud's wax museum. At first I thought it would be freaky weird but we really enjoyed it. I draped myself across Jon Bon Jovi while DH took a pic!

The Paris hotel is gorgeous inside! It looks like a Parisian street, so pretty. Cute little shops and amazing food!

The Bellagio is stunning. They have this gorgeous glass flower ceiling in the lobby that I took about 100 pics of! There's also a beautiful conservatory there that you just have to see to believe. It's always a different theme and completely made out of flowers and plants. Here's a link:
Bellagio Botanical Garden

Also, the fountain show is really spectacular, particularly at night!

I suppose the best way to approach your itinerary is to keep it loose, as you said. I forget how many days you'll be staying but trust me, there's plenty to see and do, even an M&M factory!

Oooh, if you're looking for something else to do outside of the strip, there's a gorgeous drive through Red Rock Canyon. I think it's about 20 miles outside Las Vegas, will you have a car?

So Sorry about Bubba not getting the position!!!:sad2:But Yay:yay: for the November Trip!!!
Ditto!!!

Seeing Colin and Brad had to be great! I loved watching Whose Line? and my boys still look for reruns on the satellite dish at night!

Such a stressful, busy time for you right now! I can relate. Hope things slow up soon!

Ugh...sorry things have been so stressful lately. Hoping it calms down for you soon and you can get to much more important things, like vacation planning. :goodvibes

Colin Mocherie is the best! I'd love to see him perform.

He was fantastic. I wish I could keep him in my pocket so every time I needed a good laugh I could just pop him out.

You've got some great trips coming up. I hope you get your first class seats. If you can only get one, just make DBF sit in economy.

:lmao: Now there's an idea! Well, he said he doesn't care either way. I'd prefer to sit with him and not beside some hot stinky sweaty person. If I don't end up getting the seats (which still haven't been confirmed by the way) then I'll suffice with economy. Although I will try to reserve bulkhead or exit row seats ;)

Ooooh, I REALLY wanted to see Colin and Brad when they were in Waterloo, but the times didn't work out for me. I'm so glad YOU got to enjoy them though!

I was surprised they only had one show in each city. I thought they'd be more popular :confused3

Wow, that's a lot of traveling for this year! I've got a lot planned for next year.

Once I list it out, it does sound like a lot! I'm most looking forward to Disney in July. I'm way beyond a Disney fix. If this was the same time last year, I would have already been back once and had a trip planned for end of April. Oh the good ole days....

What a mess with your new shift bidding system. I wonder why they changed it.

Because some stupid dum dum in charge of it thought it'd be a good idea. I dunno. It might not be permanent....it all depends on how we end up liking it. I think they're going to try it out for a month or two and see how it goes.

Hm....Vegas....I didn't have much of an itinerary when I went to Vegas, but had a great time. It doesn't really NEED much planning. I guess if you want to eat at a popular restaurant you should make a reservation. My family only ate at buffets and it was awesome.

Basically....you can count on visiting 3 hotel/casinos a day. Be sure to check out all those little shows in the hotels I told you about! I had a list of all the free and inexpensive stuff we could do, plus a list of where the best buffets were and then just let loose! Work your way up the strip I guess?

I mainly want to eat at the buffets. My only concern are which are the good ones? I've done a lot of reading and the main ones I want to try are in Paris, Bellagio, MGM Grand, and the Wynn. Have you eaten at any of those? I also discovered there's an Earl of Sandwich there!!! Definitely going to make that a main stop when we don't know where else to eat.

Awww, Jen. Lots of stressful stuff on your plate! I'm sorry the car thing and vacation stuff was so time consuming and irritating. Glad the vacations worked out in the end though!!

Me too! I think I need to book a spa day and soon! I really wish I had more time on here ARGH!

Economy isn't that bad. The seats for trans-Atlantic are a bit roomier, and if you take a pillow and a sleep aid, it's not terrible. Might save you some money for extra souvenirs...... ;)

Well, roomier depending on the airline. I'll be on a charter and they're always trying to cram as many people as possible on the planes. Good point on saving a bit of money for souvenirs.... :scratchin You may have just made economy that much more desirable!

Oh Jen, real life sucks sometimes, doesn't it? It sounds pretty stressful for you at work, I can't imagine bidding for hours! Sounds like something you'd do at the New York Stock Exchange.

It's really stupid isn't it??? I hope they do away with it after we all complain

I'm glad you got your vacation time sorted out too, whew! And a trip to Italy?? Awesome!

I'm hoping I'll enjoy it better since the last time I went. I've grown up a lot since I went in 2008 and I'm starting get along much better with DBF's parents. So hopefully the trip will be lots of fun this time! I cannot wait to eat all the scrumptious Italian food.

Thank you for all this info! I'm planning on exploring many of the hotels. They all look very cool and different in their own way. I'm definitely going to see the fountain show at Bellagio and the Botanical gardens. That place looks really pretty! I had no idea there's an M&M factory :hyper: We're going to rent a car for one day to see the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. I realize it's at least a 5 hour drive there and back but it'll be so worth it! I guess we'll probably pass by Red Rock Canyon too if it's on the way?

Ditto!!!

Seeing Colin and Brad had to be great! I loved watching Whose Line? and my boys still look for reruns on the satellite dish at night!

Such a stressful, busy time for you right now! I can relate. Hope things slow up soon!

I'm so sad they cancelled Whose Line. I guess it wouldn't be the same now with Drew and his excessive weight loss. But man, if Colin and Brad teamed up with Wayne and Ryan, the show would be sold out for sure. I was actually surprised how few people showed up.

Ugh...sorry things have been so stressful lately. Hoping it calms down for you soon and you can get to much more important things, like vacation planning. :goodvibes

Vacation planning is always top priority and when I don't get to do it or things get in the way that keep me from it, I get very agitated! :furious: But thanks, I hope things get better soon!!!

Hi Jen !!Don't know how I missed your Vegas/Work update !!I would HATE to bid on shifts !!!!:scared1:
One of the FREE vacations is Vegas and I have been hinting about going !! We will see !!I still don't know if Vermount is a GO or not !!But I have a feeling we may go to the Elvis Festival again if not !!:confused3Carol and I decided we were okay with that! But if Vegas is a possibility mmmmmm!!!!!:worship::yay:

Cool! How did that happen!

I can't remember how I found out but I was surfing the internet and just stumbled upon their show. I was like "Holy cow! How did I not know about this!" I would never have known about if I wasn't doing what I was doing. There was no advertising to speak of really. Anyway right away I asked if Bubba wanted to come. She said yes right away of course. I'm really surprised it was only for one night. The show as hilarious!

When is your Vegas trip?

I'm leaving in 5 days! Wow! It's closer than I thought. Perfect timing too since we just got another dumping of snow here. :headache:

Yeah, bidding on shifts is no fun at all. I dunno. Maybe we'll learn to like it :confused3 Sounds like you have lots of choices for trips! Where is the Elvis Festival? You should go to Vegas. People welcome pole dancers there ;)

I've eaten in the MGM Grand buffet and that was the best buffet we had! The price wasn't bad for what it included. Made to order steaks, crab legs, taco bar, and lots and lots of other foods! I definitely recommend for dinner.

I know I went to another great lunch buffet, but I can't remember which one. They had freshly made chocolate dipped strawberries.

Hope you're having the best day in a while, Jen! :goodvibes

Buffets are a great way to go in Vegas! Our favorites are ones you mentioned. Mmm, cheap food that doesn't taste cheap! Also, be sure to check the magazines in your hotel room, they usually have coupons for things to do. For instance, we saw the Titanic exhibit one year and had 50% off coupons from the Vegas magazine!

Unfortunately, Red Rock Canyon isn't on the way to Arizona. But the Hoover Dam is! It's reallly cool. I drove across it very slowly and had DH put his head out of the sunroof to snap pics! It's pretty amazing to drive across. They're making an overpass so that you don't have to drive over it but where's the fun in that??

We've never seen the Grand Canyon though I've always wanted to. They have that new clear observation deck that you couldn't pay me to walk around on! Are you and Bubba going to try it out?

Sweet! I'm sure we'll make at least one meal there since it's where we'll be staying. I'm glad to hear good things about it

Yummy! Perhaps I will come across it and I'll let you know the name. ;)

Hope you're having the best day in a while, Jen! :goodvibes

Thanks Liesa. Today was okay until this evening. As soon as I got home I broke down and cried :sad1: I guess I'm just a little overwhelmed with everything going on. Hopefully I can recoup on my trip to Vegas. It'll be a nice, much-needed break I think.

I'll keep that in mind! I love coupons. My DBF says I'm like an old lady the way I'm always cutting out coupons. But it really adds up!

I think I need to polish up on my geography  That is hilarious how you mad your DH stick he head out of the sunroof!!! Why would they build an overpass when it's a main tourist destination?? I guess it's for all them locals? Is there a place to stop along the Hoover Dam or are you forced to drive right across?

We've never seen the Grand Canyon though I've always wanted to. They have that new clear observation deck that you couldn't pay me to walk around on! Are you and Bubba going to try it out?

You can live vicariously through my pictures... yeah I know it's not the same. If that observation deck is anything like the glass bottom floor in the CN tower here in Toronto, you won't catch me dead in that thing :scared1: Heights are not my favourite but I'd still be willing to check it out.

Oh, speaking of that deck...it's on the non-frequented side of the Canyon. You actually have to go through a lot of dirt roads to get there. The ride there was so rough, my mom and I took off our shoes, put it on the floor of our rental and treated it as a foot massage. On our way back, we blew out one of the back tires!! Tore it to shreds! So...yeah...it's quite a trip....Then you board another bus that takes you to the actual ledge.

I can't do the glass floor at the CN tower, but my mom FORCED me to do the one at the Gran Canyon. It's not as scary as it looks! It's like a bridge that stretches out, and for the scaredy cats, on both side of the "path" is a non-glass platform. I think I only touched my foor the the glass about 3 times....Never really walked on it. The view was FANTASTIC though.

You'll be doing a TR when you get back right? Which reminds me that I need to do my Montreal one....I'll be going back to Vegas next year and would love to hear about the buffets you went to!

Hey Jen!! Just got all caught up. I am totally with you on MSEP. I didn't like it too much as a kid at Disneyland because of the repetitiveness of the music - and I still don't! I love Spectro and wish they'd bring it back!

So sorry you are having a stressful time lately. When does the Vegas trip come up? Sounds like you really need a break. Hey, did Bubba ever do the Disney interview? Did she find out? You may have mentioned it, but I only read the updates, not the in-betweens.

Cool. It sounds really neat. I hope we get a chance to check it out

Of course! I'll have lots to show and tell when I get back. And yes, you do need to write your Montreal mini-TR.

Evening Jen !1Another coupon clipper here !!Can't afford not to these days !!!

:thumbsup2 The only way to go!

Hey Rebecca! Let's hope they do by end of this year.

So sorry you are having a stressful time lately. When does the Vegas trip come up? Sounds like you really need a break. Hey, did Bubba ever do the Disney interview? Did she find out? You may have mentioned it, but I only read the updates, not the in-betweens.

Vegas trip is..... tomorrow! :rotfl2: Bubba did hear back from Disney but it wasn't the best of news. She's on the opportunity list which means if something comes up, she'll get placed. I was on that list for 5 months and they finally came back and told me they can't offer me a position at this time. I hope the same doesn't happen to Bubba because I know she really wants to go back.

Your trip is getting really close! Have fun!

I will thanks! I'll be writing a quick update about all my trip plannings before I leave so stay tuned!

Hello Friends!

The day has finally come for me and Bubba to go on our travels again. Sadly it isn't a trip to Disney but it's a getaway nonetheless. Yesterday I was able to get most of my packing done in my brand spankin' new suitcase that Bubba got me for Christmas.

1619.jpg

We leave tonight for Buffalo to stay in a hotel close to the airport. Thankfully this time Bubba doesn't have to work late and we'll be able to get there at a reasonable hour. I hope to be on the road by 8pm tonight which will have us arrive around 10:30pm-11pm depending on traffic, pit stops, and possibly taking wrongs turns.

As I mentioned before, we'll be staying at the MGM Grand in a Deluxe room

MGM_ROOMS.jpg

It'll be interesting to see how true these photos actually are. You can be sure I'll be very meticulous in my review of this hotel despite the fact that it's not a Disney hotel ;)

I've made a very basic itinerary because with Vegas it seems you can really just go with the flow. The only things that are written in stone are our show tickets and the rental car for our side trip to the Grand Canyon. We're going to see the Cirque Du Soleil show 'KA' the first night we're there on the 29th.

Do you need to dress up for these things? :confused3

Then on the night of the 30th we pick up our rental car, keep it overnight, and wake up early on the 31st for our mini-roadtrip to the Grand Canyon.

Then it's straight to bed when we get back as our plane leaves at 9am on the 1st.

The only thing that might slow us down is Bubba's recent tooth troubles. About a month ago, she got a filling done but apparently they messed up the nerve inside the tooth. So now she goes through periods of extreme agony and is popping the meds like candy. I completely understand what she's going through as I had to endure the same kind of pain when I had to get a root canal. The unfortunate thing is that she can't get it fixed until after we get back since our dentist is so booked up. If we have to take it easy because of that I won't mind. This trip will be all about taking it easy.

Expect a full mini-TR when I get back and then hopefully I'll get to finishing my last day from my actual Oct TR. Let's hope no snow welcomes us home!!!

Have a great trip Jenbear and Bubba!

I don't think you have to get dressed up for Cirque. Don't get me wrong, don't look like a schlub (but then again, you never do). Casual/nice is probably fine.

I can't believe Bubba's dentist won't see her until after the trip. I've never heard of a dentist turning someone away that is in pain, that they helped to cause! Mine would come in during non-working hours for something like that.

Looking forward to your review, details of the trip, and all of the adventures. Remember, what happens in Vegas.....gets detailed in the trip report!

Have a safe trip! And I sure hope Bubba's tooth troubles will be over soon. You guys'll be eating so much!!

Don't forget that the glass bridge is actually on a different side of the canyon. I believe the main side is the west side, and the bridge is on the south side. Be careful driving out there!!

I can't wait to see the real photos of your room! The promo ones always look TOO good. I'm so excited for you guys. Can't wait to hear all about it!!
