So cruise is less than a month away.....I've checked literally 10 times a day for a cancellation since the booking window opened. I honestly may have missed checking 1-2 days.....I get the feeling I'm not going to get a cabana :-) I know there is still fun to be had but we are on a double dip so I thought maybe just maybe with double the chances one might open up....... Pity party over.......

I've done the waitlist thing before...honestly I feel like they look at you like, "Really....you honestly think you have any chance at all of getting a cabana?" But....I guess I like to beat my head against a wall.....so I still will.....:crutches:

I haven't been to CC yet but wow - those cabanas must be something else. We've rented pool cabanas at nice resorts before and so I understand the appeal. But the consistent demand for the CC cabanas makes me start to worry about my own upcoming cabana-free Double Dip cruise. I thought CC was a nirvana in and of itself? :scratchin

There is plenty to do on CC. No shortage of seating, shade, activities to do. You are getting to go to CC twice on one cruise party:.

It really is. And I know we will have a fantastic time even without the cabana. We've cruised with and without the cabana but in the middle of July in the Bahamas I was HOPING for a little place out of the sun and we don't tend to be first off the ship so when we get there all the shaded loungers are already taken. We usually just cut our day there a bit short and go back on the ship a bit earlier than otherwise.....

We looked at the cabanas on Serenity and thought they were a long walk to the beach. Maybe we missed a path somewhere?

We have had a cabana and I personally like cc better withOUT. For me, because we aren't made of money and I grew up with less money, I want to find value in everything. And the ONLY thing a cabana gave that was valuable to me was a structure over my head. But then that structure took the rest of cc away from me, because I felt I had to stay there to get the value. If you are anything like me, don't do it.

On our first cc visit I did the 5k, I changed into my swimsuit in the public bathrooms, rinsed off, and had one of the best, most relaxing days of my life. I've since learned the beauty of going back to the ship to change after the 5k but still, just sitting on the beach on an included lounger under the included sun, watching DS play on the included beach, and maybe having one drink (not included lol )...it's just so nice.

The cabana added nothing to my cc day but stressing that we weren't getting the full value of it.

I will note that DH and DS do not share my feelings. But DH grew up wealthy and DS is growing up in our circumstances which are better than my childhood, so they have different backgrounds.

But really, a day just on cc with nothing extra can be total bliss.

Put your name on the wait list you ever know.
We have gotten one while we were on the waitlist...
Don't stop checking day and night. I have also gotten one a week or 2 before the cruise.

Good Luck.

There are a few cut through paths so you don't have to walk all the way back to the runway entrance. But for me, not being on the beach is a no go for me at SB. Plenty of umbrellas and chairs, especially in the afternoon, and they will still bring you drinks.

We have had the cabana and not had the cabana. A double dip at Castaway Cay cabana-less is better than no Castaway Cay at all. :) Keep trying, you never know! Plans change all the time for people. Fingers crossed for you!

Do cabanas usually always go to concierge? Is it possible to get one without being concierge? What is the booking window to book one? Hope this isn't hijacking your thread.

Booking windows open based on your Castaway Club level.

Platinum level (as well as Concierge) - 120 days out
Gold level - 105 days out
Silver level - 90 days out
First time DCL cruiser - 75 days out.

For the most part Concierge and Platinum get first crack at the cabanas, followed by Gold CC members. After that they're mostly gone. BUT, as noted, plans change, sometimes one may get cancelled, so just keep checking all the way up to cruise date. And ask to be placed on the wait list onboard, if you still haven't been able to book one.

Yes, it's possible to someone other than Concierge to get a cabana, you just have to be diligent.

I think it was on our cruise in 2011 that we lucked out and got one a few days before we docked at CC. DH decided to surprise my daughter, her hubby and me with one and went to guest services to see if any were available. Turns out there were 2 open at SB. It was a splurge that was well worth it IMO. The most relaxing 6 hours that I can ever remember! Keep checking with Guest Services after you board. You never know.....
