Don't shoot me, just asking...

I had a friend who claims that she had a hard time getting ADR's because they are a family of 3. She said they'd rather use those tables with 4 chairs for families of 4 instead of having one empty with a family of 3. Is there any truth to this? I'm going on a trip with my 2 daughters in June and she says I should make ADR's for 4 and tell them that one person got sick when I arrive. (I really do not think I could, in good conscious, do this.)

Am I going to have a hard time getting ADR's for 3?

It can be a problem - we are three and have had that problem - have called back and asked for a table for 4 and there have been times open. It's how the computer software works. I just go ahead and make the ADR for 4 and tell them when I check in there are only 3 of us.

It's never been a problem.

We are a family of 3 and I had no trouble at all making ADR's. I was able to make them at 180 days because this was before the new system was in place, but I had ADR's for Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, Chefs de France, Coral Reef and Spoodles all for 3. I think you'll be fine making ADR's for 3 without the subterfuge.

Our family of 3 just returned from a week at WDW. We had no issues with getting ADR's for our party size......even managed a last minute Mama Melrose reservation booked at 10 p.m. the night before for 12 noon the following day.

same thing happens with a party of 2. Sometimes they say there are no opening for 2 but if you ask for 3 there are tables available.

We've never had a problem getting ADR's for a party of 3. And we always end up at at table for four. When we added a fourth person, friend of DD, we called to change ADRs and were told not to bother - party of 3 automatically gets a table for 4 at most places. The only place they suggested changing was Biergarten because of the shared table arrangement.

For almost all non-family-style restaurants, a party of 3 will be seated at a table for 4. (Are there even tables for 3?)

We didn't have any issues booking for 3 back in September. We ate at Coral Reef, Le Cellier, & Cape May Cafe. We were at a table for 4 at all of them despite booking 3 people, they don't take a chair away from you when you sit down.

I don't think so. We were a party of three and had no problems getting the ADRs we wanted. I think it's the parties that take up more unusual table sizes (1-2 or 5+) that have more trouble.

The only place I have heard of with tables shaped for 3 was at Boma. However, we cancelled our ressie there, so I haven't seen for myself. I did have to make an ADR at 1900 Park Fare for 4; I called back for months to see if they had one for 3 and of course they never did. I saw no triangular tables there. ;) I would think it would matter at Teppan Edo, though, since you are seated with others to fill the table.

I've never heard of this before.

I know there's a problem for parties of 2. But we're a party of 3 and have not had any trouble getting tables where and when we want. Parties of 3 are generally seated at tables for 4 -- there really aren't tables for 3, so it's not a problem. The problem is that they dont want to give a 4-top to a party of 2 when there are tables for 2 in the system.

In the past, we've always been a party of 4 and I haven't noticed any difference when making reservations for 3 for our upcoming trip.:)

We're a party of 5 and we have a case where are reservations are for "Party of 3" and "Party of 2" (CRT for breakfast). Hopefully they'll put us all together......but I didn't get the feeling that party size would be too big a problem -- just a space issue.....

I have a hard time getting a table for 2 but sometimes a CM will check for a table of 3 and get me in...sometimes it is a 4 top or sometimes it is a larger table with 3 chairs.
