Don't Put Your Hand on Mickey's Hat-A Family Vacation--NEW TRIP REPORT 5/24/14

This is a GREAT picture! Love it!

But first I want to say that I am very happy you did not get flooded or have any storm damage during the recent storms. I have a DIS friend who lives in Moore OK and has been posting updates on FB and my heart goes out to the people in that region. I have always lived in the NE/Mid Atlantic so its very hard for me to envision that type of weather.

Tokyo dining - almost booked it for June but Denny does not like sushi. But that tempura shrimp looks really yummy so now I might have to rethink this. Lovely view.

Honey Boo Boo - :rotfl: I have watched reruns of the show several times when I run indoors on the treadmill. I always run to whatever is on TLC because its so mindless for the treadmill and I actually find June (the mom) to be entertaining. That's cool that you recognized them. I guess they fall into the category of celebrities, but that might be open for debate. :confused3:rotfl2:

Very scary stuff with the tornadoes and the flooding. I'm glad you guys got away without any damage.

That might just be the best Snow White I've ever seen! Great pic!
Lovely view at Tokyo Dining, looks like a great meal!

They were great! They came out with their handler, and there was a little boy of about 4 with his back to them, so the snuck up and surprised him! We thought it was too cute and thought why not? You hardly ever see the Prince out too! The food was really good. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Looks like a super trip! Great photos and love the pillow pets. Great find on those!

We had a great trip. Those pillow pets are amazing and they have so many different choices. We got the Stitch in 2011.We were riding back with my dad and Jackie from Orlando to NOLA and then the next day Jeremy and I were driving back to Kentucky. That is 20 hours of car time. I picked up Stitch at the Poly gift shop. It worked so great on the way home and also on the couch for resting, when we went back, Jeremy got Perry!

Glad you are okay! What a scary time that must've been for you!

Love your pictures of WS, I get a little snap-happy there also, so pretty and so many things to look at!

Dinner looked great- how was that green tea cheesecake? It looks good! I always have to end my meals at hibachi restaurants with green tea ice cream, wonder if this is just as good! :thumbsup2

Love the picture of you two at the end of your post, the sky looks beautiful next to Spaceship Earth! It looks like you had a great night :goodvibes

We are definitely glad everything turned out ok! I think World Showcase is the most photogenic spot in Disney, besides the Castle! :)

The cheesecake was amazing. It was very light and refreshing and did not have a super sweet taste or funky after taste. It was beautiful that night, We love to get our picture taken there on our way out. It is usually our last picture of the trip. Spoiler alert, we ended our trip some place different this time. :thumbsup2

I know we are very blessed. I feel for you as it is very hard to watch on TV and not be able to do anything. You feel helpless. I can remember watching Katrina on TV and praying my family was ok, not being able to do anything about it, and having trouble getting through on the phone.

I thought this was a great picture too!

You and Denny should try it! They also have grilled chicken and steaks. The food was great, the service was great, and you can't beat the view. They pipe the Illuminations music in. Next time we are shooting for that!

I don't think she is a celebrity either, but she was carrying some kind of cards or pictures and when someone would come up and say how great the show was, momma would say "tell them thank you" and hand them something. She also had a few "guards". I figure the time I saw Bob Hope in the Brown Derby at WDW is a whole lot cooler!

Great pics! :)

Thanks! I hope you are enjoying them! :thumbsup2

It has been a really long week. 10 plus hours a day all week. I have to work part of the day tomorrow and I am just worn out. I am going to do an update tomorrow night! Have a great night Dis peeps! :cool1:

Hello everyone! I am back and ready to share!

So here we are now, starting our 7th day. It is a bittersweet day. You see, my dad and Jackie would be getting there the next day, and we were REALLY excited about that. BUT this also means it is our second to last day :( It also means we will be packing tonight so we don't have to cut our night short with the family the next day. But that is enough of being a downer. We still have two days left!

We were up early and were bright eyed and bushy tailed. We arrived at the bus stop at 8:10 am and a bus pulled up shortly. We were on the bus with two other people, that is IT! We made it to the park at 8:30 and we were walking in by 8:39. Standard Hollywood strategy applied. Jeremy grab fast passes for TSM and I would wander in that general direction. He took off with the sea of humanity and for some reason I didn't dawdle. I thought well this is the last time we will be at Hollywood Studios this trip and I wanted to try to ride TSM more than once. I figured I would walk over there and we could ride standby. Jeremy must have been one of the firsts because he was getting out of the fast pass line right as I got even with the machines. Our return time was 9:55. The standby entrance said 25 minutes so we said sure. This is what we encountered when we walked in.

IT WAS A WALK ON!!!!!!!!! Talk about awesome luck. We literally went from standing outside to taking off in our vehicle in under 5 minutes. Want to know what was even better? I won!!!! My score was 157,400 and Jeremy's was 120,200. On that awesome high, we headed back out. What to do until our return time? We decided to head down to ToT for Jeremy to ride before the lines got long.

While Jeremy was riding, I looked in the shops again. I love to look around the shops. Even if I don't buy anything (and most times I don't) the decorations in the shops are great. Shortly I received a text from Jeremy asking where I was. He came in and we looked together for a few minutes. The apple slices were not holding me today and lunch wasn't until noon, so I suggested we go to Starring Rolls and get a snack. We went and got a Napoleon to split. OH. MY. GOD. It was soooo good. For anyone from NOLA or who have visited NOLA, it tastes just as good as the ones from La Madeline's, swear to God. There is no picture though as we had to sit on a bench to eat it and I was taking no chances that it would hit the ground or that Jeremy would eat all of it.

After devouring that in like 2 minutes, we decided to walk back towards TSM. We still had a few minutes, so we thought we would stop for some pictures.

Soon we were back in Andy's room for our last spin for this trip. Jeremy won this time. His score was 155,700 and mine was 129,700. In my defense, I am pretty sure I was in a sugar coma. :)

Jeremy decided he wanted to ride Star Tours. That was fine with me as there is a little waiting area with tables and chairs to the side. The last time I rode this ride it made me a little queasy so I was going to sit it out as we had just had a snack and lunch was coming up shortly. We took some pictures on the way, of course.

When we got there, Jeremy went inside and I went to sit and wait. A very nice custodial cast member came over and kept me company. His name was Brian. He was pretty funny. When Jeremy came back, he tried to talk Jeremy into buying me a tiara since I was his princess. Before we left, he gave me a sticker of Minnie dressed as a princess. I put it on my journal cover. :thumbsup2

It was now time to start heading to our lunch ADR. It was at the Sci Fi Dine in Theater. We have never eaten there before and decided to give it a try. After about 10 minutes, we were seated in the back row of a blue car in the middle of the room. Great spot! We had a wonderful server who made sure we had everything we needed and our drinks were always topped off. We didn't bother with pictures because it is very dark in here and I didn't want to blind anyone or myself. Jeremy and I both got the cheeseburger and fries. They were very tasty. They were cooked just as we asked and the bun and toppings were all fresh. I had the fruit salad for dessert. It had grapes, cantaloupe, pineapple, and strawberries. It was very refreshing and was perfect. Jeremy had the chocolate peanut butter cake and ice cream. I didn't try it, but he must have liked it because he ate most of it.

We decided to waddle out of Sci Fi and wander through some shops and decide what we wanted to do. We had done everything we came to do. We decided to go to Epcot. As we were walking through the shops, my phone rang. It was my dad and Jackie. They were driving to Ocala today and then would head to Orlando the next morning. I stepped outside to talk to them while Jeremy browsed. After talking to my dad, we changed our plans. We decided to head to the Magic Kingdom to make sure we did everything we wanted to do as we would start out in Epcot the next morning. On the way out, we took some pictures, as per usual.

There were a gaggle of photopass photographers and Jeremy decided he wanted to take their pictures.

We stopped on the way out to take a picture of the Streetmosphere performer. He was pretty funny!

On the way out to the bus stop, a POFQ bus was pulling up so we hopped on it and headed back to the resort to catch a bus to the MK. :cool1:

Tsm walk on is the best ever! Happened to us once too, I couldn't believe my luck!

I'm glad you enjoyed sci-fi, it's such a cool place to eat!

I was in shock. We literally didn't stop until we were at the top of the down staircase. We really liked Sci Fi! It was definitely worth checking out.

We decided to head to the Magic Kingdom from Hollywood Studios after talking to my Dad and Jackie, who were on their way to Ocala! We decided to grab some fresh water, so we hopped on a bus to POFQ. When we got to our room, we had this waiting for us.

We thought this was really cute. Loaded with two new bottles of water, we made our way to the bus stop. Soon we were boarding a bus to MK. We get off the bus and head inside and BAM, huge crowd. We decided to go ahead and see what we could ride. We stopped for some pictured as we headed to Tomorrowland.

We headed to the fast pass machines for Buzz and picked up two. What better way to enjoy time until your fast pass than multiple rides on the People Mover? We head on over for back to back rides. Here are some of the better pictures from those trips.

When we got done, we headed over to Buzz. Jeremy won. By a lot. Like embarrassing amount of points. We decided now was a good time for a bathroom break. When headed to the restrooms under the People Mover behind the stage. Once done, we came out and noticed a show starting on the stage. It was a dance party. There was a DJ and several characters dressed up. Jeremy and I sang and danced and watched the show. I have pictures of course. Want to know the best part of the show? Watching Disney characters do Gangnam Style. You read that right. Gangnam style. I have photographic evidence.

And the Pièce de résistance

We will leave this the large size so you can revel in the amazingness of this photo.

We decided to head over to Fantasyland to check out how busy it was. It was packed. Teacups were not too busy, only a 15 minute wait. We got a pink teacup, my favorite! Here are some pictures.

We headed over to Liberty Square to check out the Haunted Mansion. Here are were all of those people were heading. Wait time was 45 minutes. No thanks, we will come back tomorrow. We continued onto Adventureland to check out Pirates and Jungle Cruise. Both were at 40 minutes. Nope, we will come back for you too. We decided time to park hop again! 3 parks a day, two days in a row. ;)

Come on back and see where we go and what we do!

We decided to head out to Epcot to see what we could get into. We headed out to the Express Monorail platform and soon Monorail Saints pulling into the station. :rotfl:

You know me, anything Black and Gold is Saints related.

Moving on. We were soon transferring at the TTC platform. I didn't take a picture of that Monorail because, well basically, I had just gotten off the Monorail Saints. :)

I love this ride. First of all, I love taking the Monorail anyway. But this one I especially love. You get some amazing views on this ride. You are traveling through the trees and then all of a sudden there is Spaceship Earth and a great ride through the park. So without further ado, here are our pictures.

We went in and headed for Spaceship Earth. We love this ride for many reasons. A.) it is a classic, B.) it is very relaxing, and C.) if you are lucky, your back will pop when you are heading backwards! :)

After we headed out, Jeremy decided he wanted to ride Mission Space. It said there was a 10 minute wait, so I said sure. I found a bench and waited. And waited, and waited, and waited. He came back about 40 minutes later. He said nothing big happened, just the wait was longer than advertised. I was starting to get hungry and he was getting tired so we decided to head back to the hotel since we would be back in the morning. We wanted to head back now as we needed to eat and pack as tomorrow was our last park day :( But on the other hand, Dad and Jackie will be here tomorrow!!!!

One last pic on our way out.

We got back to POFQ and went to the cafeteria and grabbed some grub. Jeremy had shrimp and fries and a brownie for later. I had a pepperoni pizza and salad and a cupcake for later. No apples you say? Well we were going to use our last quick service credit for breakfast the next day as we had a sit down lunch and dinner scheduled for tomorrow and a sit down meal for breakfast the day we left.

We had a nice time eating and talking about our trip and watching the Duffy bedtime story. Soon we picked up our desserts and headed to the room. We packed everything up as we knew we would be late the next night. We were going to head out early Saturday so Thursday night was the only good time to pack. We watched the Disney Channel while we packed and had our snacks. It was off to bed for us as we were going to have a long day tomorrow!

Wow, sounds like a busy day with all the park hopping athe crowds, but sounds like a good one at least! Lots of fun rides in there.

We did get a lot accomplished. We love to park hop!

It's Friday! This means another installment! I have a busy weekend ahead of me. I have to go get a manicure (I know hard, right? :rotfl: ), pack, and drive to Nashville Sunday afternoon to fly to Greenville, SC to train a new client. I will be flying back Tuesday afternoon. I will then be in office Wednesday, off Thursday for the 4th, and back to work Friday. So basically I am getting zippola done next week! :thumbsup2

So here we are. The first part of the last day. We woke up a little sad as we were going home the next day. We were also excited as our family would be in today!!!!!! Jeremy was moving a little slow this morning. He had been sick during the night for a little while. He felt fine this morning, but was tired. We decided to just take it easy and not get into a rush. We were going to eat at the hotel. Of course, since it was our last day, I had to have my Disney Bling on.

We headed over to the food court and picked up breakfast. We both picked up the Bounty Platter. There were several seats available, but it was pretty noisy and chaotic and with Jeremy being tired and on the verge of grumpy, we decided to head back to the room to eat. On the way out, we noticed a table outside available. It was nice! We sat and had a nice leisurely breakfast and enjoyed the music. Since we were all ready to go, we headed to the bus stop as soon as we threw our trash away.

We soon were on a bus heading to Epcot. The plan for the day was to enjoy some rides, have Jackie and Dad meet us at Epcot, and eat lunch at the Rose and Crown. Even with the slow pace, we still made rope drop! Jeremy will make rope drop even if he has to crawl! :) We decided to head over to Ellen as we had not done that yet on this trip. Jeremy's artsy picture with what I call the LSU flower bed. :rotfl:

We had a great trip with Ellen and we beat Stupid Judy! We decided to go ride Nemo. A quick not so hidden Mickey on the way to Nemo.

We had to stop and get a pictures of the birds of course.

We found Nemo in the big ol' blue. On the way out, we decided to go to Figment. And of course get another picture.

When we got out of Figment, my Dad texted and let us know they had just gotten to the Grand Floridian and would be checking in and getting into their room hopefully and then head to Epcot. We had an hour and a half until lunch time. Plenty of time! Jeremy and I decide to go ride the Malestrom and then ride the Gran Fiesta Tour and then meet Dad and Jackie at the entrance to World Showcase. We slowly walked to Norway. As we were walking through Mexico, a small catastrophe happened. It was a fairly breezy day. We were walking past La Hacienda. The breeze picked up and I felt something hit the back of my head. I figured it was a leaf and kept walking. About 5 seconds later it felt like something was moving on my head. I thought uh-oh, I have hairspray on my hair. I bet it was a bug and it is stuck. I quickly reach up and grab the bug and pull it away. I look at it for about a half a second and my brain registers it is a bee. About the time I am dropping it, my thumb starts to throb. Badly throbbing. So you say well Ashley, bee stings hurt, but they are not that bad you big baby. Did I mention I am allergic to bee stings. Like whatever gets stung will swell big time and if I get stung enough times I have to go to the hospital right away allergic. Um, this is not good. As I look at my thumb with the stinger hanging out, I can see my thumb actively swelling and it had been five seconds. I call for Jeremy who is a few steps ahead. He comes back and gets the stinger out. We head to Norway and I go to the bathroom to wash it and let cold water run over for a couple of minutes. Remember the rash I had at the start of the trip? Well I still had a couple of doses of Benadryl in my backpack. Score! I got those out and took them and made myself a wet rag to keep it cool.

I head back out to meet Jeremy and we head to the Malestrom. I am kind of disappointed as now my thumb is killing me and it is throbbing all the way to my wrist and I was stung on the tip. This is going to be an awesome day. I knew it would get better, but it still hurt and now Jeremy was asking every 5 minutes, "you feel ok?" Love that man, but he wore me out. :rotfl: He also knows me and knows I am hard headed and wouldn't say anything about feeling bad until about 5 seconds before I passed out. :rolleyes1

The ride was fine, and I was getting my Disney cheer back. I figured I was in good hands because Jeremy is very attentive and with all the cast members around, help would have soon arrived. We went back to Mexico and I gave the flowers a VERY wide berth. When we got to Mexico, we got a text from Dad saying they were pulling into Epcot. We went in and took a trip with our feathered friends. When we came out, we headed towards the World Showcase entrance and saw my dad and Jackie.

Hugs all around! Yay, we were together finally! We headed towards the Rose and Crown and checked in. We sat outside for a few minutes and were soon called. We had a great table and wonderful service. Jeremy and I had fish and chips. Dad had the Ploughman's lunch and Jackie had Cottage pie. Jeremy had the sticky toffee pudding and I had Panna Cotta. Here are some pictures.

We were totally full and ready to head out. We were going to ride with my Dad and Jackie and head to POFQ. They had gotten me a really amazing print for our house for Christmas and had brought it to me instead of shipping it. They also brought me a great print of St. Louis Cathedral. We had my dad's Father's Day gift to give him. Since it is past Father's day, I can tell you what it was! He is a Civil War buff and we got him a coffee table book of Civil War Battlefields. Some pictures on the way to the parking lot.

Goodbye Epcot! See you next time!

Awesome towel animal. That is so creative.

Nice pictures from the monorail.

Bummer to the bee sting. You are so lucky you had your Bendaryl. It must stink to be that allergic.

Love Rose & Crown.

You got some great shots in Epcot.

Nice that you got to meet up with your dad. Sorry your trip is coming to a close. And sorry I got so far behind.

I love Ellen! It's such a nice ride to relax on. And beat stupid Judy of course.
Yikes @ the bee! Glad you had your Benadryl avoided a real problem!
Yay for being all together! Sounds like a fun evening!

I love the towel animals! They are nice to come back too at the end of a long day.

My husband loves to take pictures of scenery. We always come back with well over 500 pictures on our cards.

I was definitely glad to have the Benadryl with me. Luckily it stopped throbbing after a couple of hours. It does kind of stink. It limits to some extent what I do outside with our yard. Pretty much zero blooming plants as they attract bees and wasps. I am lucky my allergy isn't worse than it is. I am not allergic enough to need an Epi pen, but I still keep one in the house, just in case.

Rose and Crown didn't disappoint!

I really enjoy Ellen! It is a nice break from the sun and a good place to catch a little snooze.

I was glad I had it too! I sure did not want to have to go to First Aid and I am glad it was only on my thumb and not some place more sensitive like my head where it was to being with!

We were very excited to be together. And we were going to finish our trip and start theirs off in the Magic Kingdom with a very special dining reservation!

Hello All! I missed Friday night update so I thought I would throw in a short one today. As I told you last week, I had to travel for work. Well, I started feeling a small cold come on 2 days before I left. By the time I got off the plane when I came home, I had a massive sinus infection. I have felt pretty bad for the last week. Luckily, I am starting to feel better so I thought I would share a short update.

When I left off, we were going to head to POFQ and then the Grand Floridian. We headed to the front of Epcot and walked out to catch the tram. We didn't see it and only waited about 2 minutes and decided to walk to the car as dad said it wasn't too far. We walked out to the car and were quickly piling in. Soon we were headed to POFQ. When we got there, we went and took our presents to the room and then took dad and Jackie around to show them the hotel. We had this in our room:

We walked around and showed them the docks, the pool, the lobby, the bar. They liked it, but even if they weren't DVC members, I doubt they would stay there. Too much like home and we all take a vacation to get away from home!

We headed back out to the car to head to their hotel. We were going to take the Father's Day present and drop it off and we wanted to see their room. I don't understand why the self parking is across the street here. :confused3 As much as a room cost a night, you think they would put the valet lot across the street and self parking by the hotel. We sat and visited for almost an hour before we headed to the Magic Kingdom for the night. This is where the update will end. Next weeks will be about our last night :( But, before I leave you, I will post our pics from the Grand.

See ya real soon!

I agree that the self parking at the GF is terrible. Hate it and I don't understand why it's so darn inconvenient. Nice pictures of the GF. Can't wait to stay in the villas one of these days.

I agree that the self parking at the GF is terrible. Hate it and I don't understand why it's so darn inconvenient. Nice pictures of the GF. Can't wait to stay in the villas one of these days.

And since they took the valet parking away as a DVC perk, it makes even less sense.

The villas look like they will be amazing!

We are now going to start our last night. We walked out of their room and walked right over to the boat dock at the Grand Floridian. Soon we were on a boat heading to the Poly and then on to the Magic Kingdom. We got there right around 4:30 in the afternoon. We stopped for a picture on the way in.

We decided to head over to Tomorrowland and see what we could do. We got fast passes for Buzz and then headed over to Carousel of Progress. We found out why we had to watch the scenes more than once earlier in the week. While we were watching, a lady decided she didn't want to watch anymore and got up and left the theater. The sad part about all of this? We had received a 5 minute talk from the cast member advising not to leave during the show. It amazes me how many people do not listen. After CoP, we went to the People Mover. Here is our one picture from the ride.

It was now time for Buzz. Jeremy and I both topped out at 999,999 before we got to the photo part. Jeremy and I both leaned back and put our hands behind our heads for the picture. Unfortunately it was too crowded to get a good picture. Here is a picture of our scores.

Next up was a stroll to Adventureland. Here is a picture Jeremy took while we were walking past the castle. I really like it. I think it looks really lovely in the soft light of the setting sun and the lights just coming on.

We headed to Pirates and took a quick ride to see the red head. After this, we headed over to see Madame Leota. She wanted us to stay, of course. We had time for one more ride. We decided to close our trip with It's a Small World. An oldie, but a goodie. A trip down memory lane! Can we ride one more time Daddy? :rotfl:

So where were we going for dinner? Here is a little back story. Several months prior to our trip, I get a call from my dad. Through our conversations, he realized we would be leaving Disney the day he was arriving. He and Jackie decided to arrive on Friday so we could spend the day together. Back to the call. It goes like this.

Dad: Guess what I just did?
Me: I don't know. What?
Dad: Just booked a reservation for 4 on February 8th at 8:05 pm for Be Our Guest.
Me: You are coming in early?!?!?! AWESOME!

So we headed to Be Our Guest to check in. A few pictures while we waited.

Soon we were seated. A few pictures while we waited for our server.

Our server came over quickly and soon became my new best friend. My dad ordered a bottle of wine for the table. She asks how many of us are drinking. He says the whole table. She immediately says, "I need to see the princess' id." WHAT? Really?!?! You are my favorite person. I happily pull out my id and hand it over. Just when I think it can't get any better, she says the following. "I would never have guessed you were this age. You look much younger."

After that wonderful start, we ordered. Dad got the French Onion Soup and the shrimp and scallops. Jackie also got the shrimp and scallops. They both said it was very tasty. I was not very hungry, so I just had French Onion Soup and a side salad of mixed greens and champagne vinaigrette. Jeremy got the NY Strip. Some food pictures now.

It was all very good. We decided to get two desserts and try them out. Jeremy and I had the Chocolate Cream Puff and Dad and Jackie had the sugar free Lemon Cream Puff. They were very tasty and a great way to cap off the meal. Here is a picture of the chocolate cream puff.

We soon headed to meet the special host. Some more pictures of the restaurant.

At this time, the Beast was there taking pictures. I hope they continue to do this.

We decided it was time to call it a night. We had 7:00 am breakfast reservations. So what did we think of Be Our Guest? It was great! It was absolutely gorgeous inside. You need to check it out at least once. Since it was our last few minutes of park time, we decided to head into the Emporium and pick up a few more items. When we came out, we got one last picture.

As we were walking to the front, we got to hear the Kiss Goodnight. What a great way to end our trip. We headed out and caught our bus back to the resort. We got back to POFQ about 10:30 pm and headed to bed.

Don't leave yet! There is still some more to this trip. Check back next week!

I agree that BOG is simply gorgeous inside! So glad you enjoyed your dinner there.

How does one get up and leave CoP in the middle of the show? I didn't even think that was possible.
