It's official! I'm coming back in 2014! My girlfriends and I will be staying at YC for the Princess Half Marathon. We are staying LV from 2/20-2/25. I'm hoping to switch to a CL room once the discounts are released.

You'll see me dragging my tired behind into the hot tub at SAB after running the 13.1 miles of the PHM. Whoever took Johnny Depp (I'm looking at you Nannette!) better return him before February!

This will be my first half marathon and what better place to do it than at Disney. Everything's better at WDW so maybe 13.1 miles will seem more like 3.1 at home! Wishful thinking!

I'm thinking of getting a t-shirt made that reads "will run for a Grey Goose Slushie!"

Couchy, I hope they lock that jerk up for years! Whoever hits my BC friend then yells at her deserves more than a misdemeanor!

Yeah:cool1::cool1: I love the shirt idea as well. Then when you are tired during the race you can look at your shirt for motivation;)
I am not a runner. I've done an 8K thru downtown Chicago several times but that's the extent of my running. This is going to be a challenge...both mentally and physically. I've said for years that the only half marathon I would run would be the Princess at WDW. When my friend said she had signed up, I gave it some serious thought and I'm going for it! We'll be the five middle-aged sorority sisters chanting and doing our secret handshake as we run walk thru YC! Ha ha ha. Just kidding!

Just pace yourself nice and easy. The thing about running is you can walk a minute or two if need be. You can always keep your legs moving. Nice and easy. :goodvibes

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek: I just now saw this, bless your heart!!!!!!!!!!!!:hug::hug: I hope you get a settlement from that crazy bad driver enough to pay for your WDW trip! What an insane thing to happen!! Thank goodness you're ok and the doggies are ok :dog2::dog2::dog2: I was in a pretty bad car wreck last December with a deep bone bruise on my left leg and it is still there. :( Those are very painful. I hope you are resting and recouping now and feeling better.

Thanks for the well wishes. Yeah not real happy with the guy who hit me. He is still trying to make it my fault:confused3 Anyway, just resting and yeah bone bruises are seriously painful

The Princess Half is in February. The WDW Marathon is in January. There is a a half marathon on Saturday and a full marathon on Sunday. If you run both, you get an extra Goofy medal for a grand total of three medals. I have a friend who does it every year.....she's crazy, I mean Goofy! New this year is a Dopey challenge...if you run the 5K on Thursday, 10K on Friday, half marathon on Saturday AND the full marathon on Sunday, you will receive six medals....one for each of the races plus a Goofy medal and a Dopey medal. If I did all of that, I would be dead!

Expedition Everest 5K with obstacles is in May and the ToT 10 mile is in October. The ever popular F&W half marathon is in November.

Expedition Everest one sounds SUPER fun! I'm not a runner either!

And my hats off to anyone that runs a 5K, 10K, half, and a full in one weekend. That's just INSANITY!

We are checking in to the YC this Sunday  and I am wondering about the security of leaving our carry-on bag with bell services in case the room isn't ready. I expect DD will have some electronics in hers; just curious about how/where stuff is stored. Also, I think I read somewhere that valuables can be stored at the front desk? Anyway, what do most of y'all do with your carry-ons while waiting for the room?

The Tikiman posted on his FB page today that "Just wanted everyone to know that was worried about refrigerators that I got a report from Disney that they completed refrigerator replacement at the Polynesian, Boardwalk, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge."

Thanks for this. I also intend to place a garden grocer order. DD only eats yogurt for breakfast and DS has too many fussy food requirements to be listed here. I would have made do with a cooler if absolutely necessary, but I'm glad it sounds like I won't have to.

A few weeks ago, I remember seeing reports about the washers and dryers being out of order?

Has anyone been by the laundry area lately?

WHAAAAT? How is that even possible? Like you would THROW yourself in front of a moving car? AYE, AYE, AYE! People these days never cease to amaze me.

That guy should be glued to a boat in Small World and forced to ride and listen for a full week

Hello,

We are going to be arriving at the Beach Club in one week! The excitement is killing me and since it's a surprise for our 2 DS I can't even share it with that many people!!

Since we will only be there from Wednesday to Monday we decided to rent a car for ease of getting around and a quick departure from the airport.

We will be only carrying carry on bags and not checking any luggage. My only concern is how will I get my sunscreen there. I know that I can probably buy it at the Marketplace but think that it will probably be expensive there.

Is it possible that I send a bag via magical express even though we aren't taking the bus?

Or I was thinking I could ship it there but would have to use the USPS and they might not let me send the sunscreen.

I would prefer not to stop on the way. Got to get the biggest WDW fix I can!!

Thanks,
Lois

Does anyone know if the marketplace sells any other water besides Dasani?

According to an order sheet I have for the BCVs- the Marketplace sells gallons of Zephyrhills water and bottles of various flavors of vitamin water: Dragonfruit, Rise and Power-C. I also see "Smart Water" (20 oz bottle) listed for sale

Maybe someone who is going soon can check to see if these or other varieties are available.

Hi. I used the laundry facility by the quiet pool last week, Thursday I think. There were "out of order" or "broken" signs on 2 out of 4 washers and 2 or 3 of 8 dryers. At 11pm/midnight-ish had to wait for the person already there to finish so I can throw in my loads. She first tried using another washer that turned out to be not working properly & was able to be refunded her $2, but only after the wash was complete. Waste of time if you ask me. The washers that were operable were the 2 closest to the entrance of the laundry room- one on left, one on right. The two rear ones weren't working. One dryer on each side was out & I think another, but not a huge deal compared to the washers. The change machine & soap dispenser were working ok as far as I know but didn't use them- I go already prepared with quarters, detergent pods & fabric softener sheets. Good luck!!

Have a question about the laundry/washing machines. Anyone know if they are front loaders or top loaders? Just wondering if I should take HE soap?

Thanks for the quick response!

That's what I was hoping...er, I mean afraid of. I really didn't want to do laundry on vacation anyway!

You cannot use Magical Express for your luggage if you are not going to be using it for your own transportation.

You can certainly ship a bottle of sunscreen to yourself but I would think by the time you paid the shipping fee and the cost to have it delivered to the business center it would be cheaper to just buy it at the Marketplace. At least, that is what I would do since you are driving from the airport and don't want to stop.
