Guess where we are? Picking up pizza to bring home to eat for dinner less than one mile from our house! We. Are. Finally. Home!

Our WDW vacation is officially over for 2013. :-(

Bring on 2014 planning! I'm thinking June.....

Boo to being home, I mean who really wants to leave Disney?!!but glad you made it safe.

Hello, everyone! Sitting in our room waiting for the latest storm to end so we can head over to Hollywood Studios. My daughter has decided to try Tower of Terror and I am very excited. Cross your fingers that we don't need to leave through the chicken exit!

On a negative note, I had to use the laundry for the first time in three stays here. I have to say I was very frustrated and disappointed. In the one laundry room by the pool, only one washer worked. In the second laundry room, there were two washers and one working dryer. I washed my one load there and took it over to the other laundry room to dry it. An hour in the dryer and everything was still wet. I folded, then carried my wet clothes to the front desk and let them know the condition of their laundry rooms. I was not the first one to complain this morning or this week. People are very frustrated and vocal about it. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside from July 6th-14th and they had very convenient laundry rooms (nothing convenient about having to carry laundry from any of the upper floors at the Beach Club to the very end of the hallway on the first floor) in the buildings and they were big and all equipment was working. They also had machines to purchase soap and softener, which the one laundry room did not have here. Very discouraging for a deluxe, when the moderates are doing a better job. The laundry rooms were also not very clean. Even though I was disappointed in the situation, I found myself defending the Beach Club to many visitors who were upset in the laundry room. They were disappointed in many aspects of the resort, mainly the conditions of the rooms, and it made me sad. I love it here and hope that they do listen to the concerns and correct the problems.

I had the same issues with the laundry rooms. On my first date with Sam Adams in the quiet pool laundry room, I lost $2 in coin to a broken washer. I had two loads to do. So I prolonged my date with Sam to do both loads there. On my second date with Sam, we moved to the indoor laundry room with one working dryer for two loads of clean clothes. The room was disgusting! Garbage was all over and food left behind. It did not sour my opinion of the BC at all. Like I've said before, it takes a lot to upset me at WDW....broken laundry rooms, chanting tour groups, constant rain....it all rolls off my back!

Catho and RWathen...please report this!
This sounds like a recurring problem and there should be NO recurring problems in a deluxe resort (or any business for that matter). Please report this so others don't have to go through what you did!

Catho-I agree with prune1977 (great board name if I may say so)....Welcome Home, dang it!

Ryan- Please let us know the ToT outcome.

So glad you made it home safely..........still raining here!

My poncho has become a permanent part of my evening attire.

Washers have been a real pain in the patootie!! I even got up and headed to do clothes at 6:00 am. And still had to wait behind someone...only one working

Is this true??? I can add someone as a day guest to my CL room for $25 a day. And once I get to the resort pay the additional room charge I can have them added to magical express too for thier flights. Honestly that just seems too easy???!

I figured my Dis friends would have accurate info.... Cm's sometimes make me nervous

Thanks Dee (and others). A bright spot in a dark day

Sorry to hear about your sad day- sending positive energy to you.

Like a duck!

Heard someone else complaining about the laundry during my stay- about several broken washers and the rest occupied.

There also need to be more working dryers- especially during the months when it rains every day and stuff gets wet.

Not good!

You must be relieved to be home after a long, exhausting trip.

Great question!!! I know I have heard that about regular rooms, but never thought about if the same charge applied for CL day guests.

Also waiting for an informed response from someone who has done this.

I need to exhale and and extend a big refreshing thank you to the participants of this thread. Your good nature and positive outlook is infectious. After spending the last few days participating in multiple discussions about MagicBands and FP+ I am exhausted from what feels like negative vibes. My customized bands arrived today and the kids were super-excited to see their names on both the box and the band. I admit the presentation is quite nice and I may be as excited as them :cool1:

Thanks to you folks I can't wait for our first YC stay. See you at SAB (I'll be the guy with a shaved head rockin' a red MagicBand)!!

Here are the bands if anyone is curious

Speaking of rain... This is how we managed the poncho issue:

Some of you know that I have an unhealthy obsession with string bags and Ziplocs.

This is how we packed for the Disney parks last week.

We rolled our ponchos into a large (2 or 2 1/2 gallon bag). Any other stuff we brought into the parks, like moleskin, extra memory cards, camera batteries and journals for notes, went into another, smaller plastic bag. We also carried another empty large ziplock to keep everything dry if it rained. We would wear the ponchos and then the string bag and contents would fit into the bag. When it stopped raining, we tried to wring out the ponchos, roll them up and place them back in their bag so they didn't get everything else wet.

It was great going through bag check. We had two clear see-through bags that the checkers didn't even have to open, and someone else carried the deflated string bag in their pocket. Once past that point, the two bags went back into the string bag.

PS- my bag was custom made by DISer Mickeystoontown. She often adds a Mickey Head outline decoration to the bag but I preferred to have mine without one.

PPS- the observant reader may notice that some of these bags are Hefty, not Ziploc. A rose by any other name...

can anyone tell me the size of the daybed? Thanks :)

:welcome: to the thread

Not sure if you posted when I was away- I haven't updated the list yet with new friends.

Here is the info on daybeds from the FAQ. From what I understand, there are two different sizes of daybeds in the rooms. One is larger and suitable for an adult, the other is better for a child. The CM who checks you in to your room should be able to tell you if your room has a daybed, but may not know which one.

Our room last week had a daybed and it was perfectly comfortable for my 15 year old 5'8" son

Kicking myself! I had a tape measure with me- of course- but I didn't think to measure the daybed!

Will my room have a daybed?

Some rooms at the Beach and Yacht Club have daybeds. You may request a room with a daybed, but it is not guaranteed. You may also request a rollaway cot to your room when you arrive. This is provided free of charge and is subject to availability.

There are two types of daybeds - one that fits a normal sized adult and the other that is best suited for a small teenager or a child. There is no way of knowing at the front desk which type of daybed is in what rooms. It's totally luck of the draw and the CM can't tell you which is in your room if you get a room with a daybed.

Daybeds

Some rooms have daybeds, which may be requested when you make your reservation, but are not guaranteed. Families of 5 (over the age of 3) are given priority access to the rooms with a daybed.

You may also request a rollaway cot to your room when you arrive. This is provided free of charge and is subject to availability.

In the middle of packing and had to come on and surf through the thread. Can't wait to be on our way tomorrow. We are going to the dark side first staying at Portofino Bay and will be "home" to the YC on Thursday! Love the thread and DIS. Keeps me updated to all the need to know news and fills my Disney addiction. :goodvibes

Can't wait to be back at Disney and relaxing at SAB! :cool1::banana:

Very cool MagicBands! Would love to have them for our September trip at Beach Club!!

Oh, yay! That photo of our youngest son's daybed with Mickey and Donald makes me happy. On Christmas morning, a little goofy joined the gang - so now he has three "guys" with him every night. :)

TIME4DIZ, love the photo! Every time we feel like vets, Disney throws something new at us! Those are great. :)

Sorry Catho, this is the most depressing thing I have read on this thread today !:rotfl2: .
Isnt amazing how L-O-N-G it takes for a WDW vacation to actually happen while you are waiting for it , but how short it really is when you are enjoing it !:confused3
Dont worry ........... now start planning for the next trip !

We are already planning for our next trip and we have 3 days to go until our current trip :cool1:.
